IHate9jerianss: Yea I hear you. How am I emotional? Cos I don't favour your flop narrative. Rich. Even Joker got dethroned 4th week by Maleficent (debut weekend) and reclaimed Title later week. We'll see who has a last laugh. |

KoiceReloaded: Okay, I agree with this one. But Birds of Prey ain't flop status yet until after a Month. It could still gain LEGS. I don't see Sonic troubling too much if it holds well against it this weekend. |

DandeNumeruno: Guy u funny DIE. You think with such massive undertaken or acquisition they'll start gaining profit within 2-3yrs. So tell me how has Disney's Fox acquisition been going. Really smooth Right? In case you don't know WB has brands they could run to: Games, Merchandise, Comics, Theme Parks etc. DVD sales could still boost profitability after theatre run. Only WB Montreal (Game devt department)alone sef will cover those loses. You hear of MK 11 ? Or the Incoming New Batman and Superman Games (Rocksteady) those ones alone will amass over $1.5bn with their exclusive deals. Even old Injustice game still brings the bucks. You know how many IP franchise WB has that could spin money in the future. Harry Potter, LoTR, Matrix etc. Even topping HBO and CW with that is a steal for the TV department. AT&T got plans mate with HBO Max giving their woeful Streaming platform a huge boost. Seems WB has been recouping their losses somehow, cos these Flops and underperformers year round would have warranted some high profile sack since. Expecting some movement in the next 3-4months. 1 Like |

IngeniousLeez: yeah i know. i did a research and lo and behold WB is making bank from it's other ventures. it's movie division needs to start performing asap. heads will surely roll if WONDER WOMAN become the latest flop in the string of flops. |

IngeniousLeez: Historically, movies perform best in their first week. If you study the graph below, you'll see that the future doesn't hold bright for BoP. It's a flop in the making, cuz it's only gonna get worse from here on out. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Anytime when a DC film hits theatres struggling, Suddenly everyone is a Box Office guru. So the GURUS pls tell me and expatiate the success levels or difference between these scenarios. "Cos I'm not understanding". @Dandenumeruno, Koicereloaded, Mekaprime, Armadeo JeromeBlack Urahara etc. If we all Agreed $500mn is the profit point of Birds of Prey at production budget of $84mn. That's 5.95x it's production. Right. Kindly explain this then.—> Doctor Strange grossed $677mn in the box office and was produced for $165mn, that's about 4.1x its budget. And it was deemed a very successful HIT. THEN EXPLAIN PLS how does B.O.P need 5.95x it's own budget which is half of Strange's to be profitable. What of Ant-Man with a $130mn production budget and final gross of $519mn. That's 3.99/4x it's budget. It was DEEMED financial success. Then how come does Birds of Prey need a similar gross when it far significantly cost less to produce?? Or suddenly box office calculations has changed which I'm not aware of. All I see is Cherry Picking and nitpicking on what's favorable to one's argument. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

KoiceReloaded: Going by the above & if Sazam is regarded as semi-profitable, with a production budget of 100m, Shazam grossed 300m(3x) to be declared semi-profitable. In the same way, BOP doesn't need 500m to be termed a success, if the estimated production budget of BOP is $97m then 97× 3= $291m is all it need to make that second tier of yours. One misconception DandeNumeruno has which I'll tend to correct is that BOP is a low budget movie & not a high budget movie, so, what is seen as a benchmark for success for one is not the same for the other. $500m just to be termed successful that's like 97×6, i don't think so bro, else you are expecting it to land on the first tire. So i agree with abduleez1 on his profit & success estimation. 1 Like |

mekaprime: Okay, but I know what I know. FYI, being semi-profitable doesn't make a movie successful. A movie is successful when it doesn't have to rely on ancillary market to cover a sequel's marketing expenses. 1 Like |

mekaprime: didn't know that BIRDS OF PREY was a medium budget, thanks for the correction. but it doesn't matter. the same rule applies to both high budget and medium budget films. |

mekaprime: point of correction, BIRDS OF PREY isn't low budget, it's mid budget like JOKER. same rule of thumb apply to mid and high budget films. only independent productions aka low budget films are exempted from this rule. |

IngeniousLeez: The general rule is a film makes profit if it achieves revenues that are 3 times production cost. I'm sure Birds of Prey is therefore already profitable. I've not seen it but I suspect it may become a video game which is another big source of money. What of toy figures etc? 1 Like |
