The Truth about the True Ethnic Origins Of Past Head Of States In Nigeria. by SlayerForever: 3:49pm On Feb 15, 2020 |
The thread on front page "True Ethnic Origins of Past Head of States in Nigeria" shows that indeed the Hausa/Fulani ethnicities are not as populous as majority of Nigerians think. The situation we have in the North is such that every politician who hopes to climb the political ladder adopts the Hausa/Fulani identity though in truth they are/were never Hausa/Fulani, an interesting case being Atiku Abubakar. If a proper census is conducted in Nigeria the truth is that many will come to discover the Hausa/Fulani are no where near the numbers they project, the Fulani are particularly a small ethnic group . At the very most the Hausa/Fulani together will take up 3 states across the North. As a single standalone ethnicity the Hausa/Fulani are not the most populous ethnicity by a distance. |

SlayerForever:. In the Core North or more correctly, in the areas that made up the Old Sokoto Caliphate, the Islamic identity supercede ethnic identity. You can climb up the political ladder if you are a Muslim regardless of your ethnic backgrounds. 2 Likes 1 Share |

oyatz: But most will still go on to claim the "Hausa/Fulani" identity which helps to perpetuate the claim by the government that the "Hausa/Fulani" is the most populous ethnic group in Nigeria which is grossly inaccurate. |

SlayerForever: What exactly do you mean by 'claim the Hausa-Fulani identity'? Please name three politicians who rose to power just by claiming Hausa-Fulani identities? 1 Like |

oyatz: You don't know what I mean by claim? Many of them have been called Fulani erroneously and they don't bother to dispel such misconceptions. Many even ride on it because it is politically favourable. No need mentioning you're from an unknown ethnic group when you can claim Fulani, more favorable as a Muslim with the Dan Fodio connection. Even Bukola Saraki has flaunted a Fulani tag (how true is it he is descended from the Fulani?). To your second paragraph, so my saying they've claimed Fulani on their rise through the ranks now means claiming Fulani will automatically get you to the seat?! You don't consider political calculations, loyalties etc. Are you thinking that narrowly? Hmm. |

SlayerForever: Please show us one Newspaper publication where Bukola Saraki declared 'I am a Fulaniman' I am very sure Fulani politicians will laugh hysterically at him, if he is too naive to do that. Those who truly belong to an ethnic group don't need to declare to Nigerians that they belong to the ethnic group. For instance, you won't see Nwankwo Kanu or Chief Emmanuel Nwanyawu telling whoever cares to listen that they are Igbos or Sir Shina Peters or Femi Otedola organizing press conference to tell the Nation that they are Yorubas. 1 Like |
