Amadu Bello, Balewa, Akintola and Okotie Eboh was killed by Nzeogwu and his gangs including
Yoruba officers, and they were not elected so cannot be said to have carried the mandate of the generality of Igbos. So what concerns Igbos with the actions of military men?
During the pogrom, they retaliated against Igbo military officers, why kill thousands of civilians who were not in the army? Gowon started the war but know the Biafra will come to pass!

You don't dictate to a people how to react after you murder their leaders and refuse to bring the perpetrators to justice!

That you expect them to act 'rationally' after such a grievous injustice and disruption of their world, just shows the deep narcissism of many Igbos.

If a small group of Hausa barbers in Onitsha woke up one day and slaughtered all the Igbo leaders, including the Obi of Onitsha with machine guns in cold blood, and were allowed to walk free for 7 months by the Hausa ruler of the country, would Onitsha residents target only Hausa barbers, or would they target Hausas?

If Hausa officers kill Igbo leaders( Igbos do not have leaders they worship), Igbos will not go killing Hausa civilians in Igboland. They will target the officers. Have you wondered why Northerners kill Easterners even till now if there is a comic cartoon of Mohd in Denmark? That's their way! They kill with very little or no provocation from their victims. Show me one incident where Igbos started killing other Nigerians in their midst

All this is hypothetical rubbish. Igbo leaders have never been targeted for slaughter by people from other regions, plus with no repercussions to the murderers, so YOU DON'T KNOW how they would react if it occurred.

Which Igbo leaders? Do you think if Okpara was killed only by Northern coupist in the military,
the Igbo civilians would start killing Northerners in their midst? That's preposterous! Igbos would never do that. Igbos have been in Nigeria since 1914 just to start from there yet have never killed Nigerians in their midst.

No wonder you are taking this position, completely out of ignorance! There was a meeting of all the leaders of the groups that made up the eastern region including the political leaders, religious leaders, judicial leaders, academic leaders, military leaders. Remember we were operating regional governments but Ironsi only replaced the premiers by military governors but all other institutions were regionally operated as it were in 1963!

Igbos killed Nigerians in their midst. They killed the Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa, plus Akintola, the leader of the western region, plus Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, leader of the North. Plus Brigadier Maimalari and others.

Who asked you to go and kill leaders of other regions in cold blood?

Why did Igbos and Igbo elders not command Ironsi to bring the perpertrators of such heinous murders to justice? It was Yorubas and Hausas that pled with him for 7 months, to his deafening silence.

Because YOU do not ''worship your leaders'' does not mean others don't ''worship'' theirs, inugwo? Umu anuofia.

It was simply Igbo arrogance and narcissism, and feeling they were better or superior to other Nigerians that led to the whole debacle. Now you know better.

You are educated so you should understand how the military works. Nzeogwu, Ironsi, Ifeajuna, and the yoruba officers in Nzeogwu's team do not answer to Igbo civilians or Yoruba civilians. They were military men with no mandate because they were never voted for. There was no referendum or election in Igboland were these people were elected as representatives. It's like punishing the North for the sins of Abacha who has no mandate from the North. If you're finding a way to blame the Igbos for the actions of coupist and dictators then you have no honor or integrity. I wonder how a person who know how military
dictatorship work will say Igbo civilians will tell Igbo coupists and dictator what to do. Did Abacha not dethrone the Saudana of Sokoto? Stop talking like a child!

Again, another block head who thinks any criticism of Biafra must emanate from a non-Igbo person. You Igbos actually think you own and control the thoughts of every Igbo person, with your little, ignorant mosquito brains?

Must be your low IQ.

Get this, you dunce. Millions of Igbos like myself do not agree with IPOB or believe in secession.

I know it hurts you to hear that. But you see, God, in his infinite wisdom, created us all with independent minds. YOU decided to subject yourself to the dictates of, and loyalty to one 'tribe' out of the earth's millions of ethnicities and nationalities, purely for your own imbecilic, irrational reasons.

There is no natural or divine law that says you must support or approve of everything the ethnic group you were born into, does. YOU chose to be that way.

No matter how much you try to make Igbos be your herd of cattle who all think the same way, it will never happen in a billion years.

And this attitude should be really scary for anyone contemplating living in a future ''Biafra''.

It is very obvious that such an entity would be a vicious dictatorial hellhole where diversity of opinion is suppressed, with dissenters hunted down and maybe even killed.

Your Biafra will be just another failed African banana republic, and it shows everyday in your primitive herd mentality/utterances on this site.

As for the rest of the garbage you typed up there, you can lie to yourself all you want. In this same Africa, the genocide of millions has occurred in various places over the past 500 years, and NOTHING happened to the perpetrators. Just as nothing would have happened if Gowon had allowed his troops to finish up the job.

YOU very likely owe your life to him. Whether you want to accept that or not is absolutely irrelevant. We all know how the civil war went, and how Biafra was reduced to a starving, unarmed, helpless, hapless mess by the conflict, which led to her surrender. So keep lying to yourself since it makes you feel better. Narcissist.

I don't blame you! You don't know what we fought for. Even your statement betrays your ignorance. Was it Ojukwu that fought or Biafrans? Those who witnessed the unwarranted pogrom in northern Nigeria had a first hand taste of hatred from their supposed compatriots and wouldn't just throw in the towel. You guys have learnt nothing from the war. Today, similar things of the 60s are happening and we are still demanding Biafra. You guys still don't understand why despite the fact that Igbos are living averagely like every other group yet, we demand Biafra. I won't waste my time explaining to you. Catalonians still demand independence despite how developed their land is. Do you wish them failure too? Are they stupid or greedy for making such demands despite all that Spain did for them. Your problem is hatred.
Who are the "'you guys" you were referring to?
Most of you feel anyone against your idea of Biafra now means that person is not Igbo.

What did YOU fight for because my late father fought on the Biafran side, did you see the war?
Northern leaders were killed in cold blood and you expected some hugs and kisses from the northerners?

You want Biafra today from the one Nigeria Igbo leaders helped in creating. You want Biafra today, why not in 1945, pre independence, 1963, 1966, why 1967? Was it because Nigerians especially northerners have learnt how to deal with the Igbos that they decided to opt out? Nonsense

What led to Igbo problems is just envy, nothing more. Civilians shouldn't be held accountable for actions of military men who owe them no allegiance. It was the actions of Awolowo and Akintola that trigger the coupists in the first place; they were planning to install Awolowo.
You said Ironsi did not execute Nzeogwu, did the Nigerian military not give Nzeogwu a national burial under Gowon? Inspite of killing Northern elders and carrying the first coup?
Why did Nigeria give him a national burial? Cant you see the irony? You accused Igbos of not doing anything to Nzeogwu, a man Nigeria celebrated nationally when he died!
This is to tell you they weren't angry with Nzeogwu because his actions gave them the excuse they needed to deal with Igbos in line with the ideological hatred of Igbos by Amadu Bello!

Statement in red is bore out of idiocy. It is very nice to know you can never be in position to make decision about cleaning of a gutter. The Nigeria soldiers would have seen the worst resistance ever in human history and experience the worst case of insurgence. The Nigerian soldiers were not even able to grab young ladies from the villages as any attempt was meant with forceful resistance by returned Biafran soldiers
Abegi, resistance from who exactly, why was there no resistance from those areas that had fallen to federal forces? Resistance indeed when almost all the important towns and cities had fallen to federal forces, is it the tiny enclave that Ojukwu was defending without weapons or food that would start an uprising or resistance while the people were moving from Biafran held territory to Nigerian held territory?

Bro, it was the discovery of oil in large quantities in the Niger Delta in the early 1960s that led to the rise of Igbo secessionist sentiment. It is why they always include the Niger Delta region, which is non-Igbo, in their 'Biafra' maps. If they truly wanted ''self determination'' as an innocent aspiration, they would simply draw a map that was just Igboland, plus maybe a tiny land corridor leading to the sea for international trade. But no.. They include the entire delta region in 'Biafra'. It's all about oil.

Why did the Igbo elite/intelligentsia not appeal to Ironsi to try the coup plotters led by Nzeogwu? Leaders from the other regions did.

It was the lack of justice for the slain leaders that led to the massacre of Igbos in the north by the northern masses, not ''envy'', you NARCISSIST.
Gowon'a actions regarding Nzeogwu speak to his role as a gentleman officer and a stickler for protocol, rather than any tacit approval of the wanton slaughter of elected Nigerian leaders by Nzeogwu and his men.

You are brandishing beer parlour gossips! Zik supported the call for declaration of Biafra.
He only changed his mind after the war had started probably because of the lack of international support. People die in war. 2 million people die, does that mean we should accept servitude in order to be alive? No tribe backs out of a war brought before it because of fear of death, No! Rather the hope of victory spurs you on.

He NEVER supported any ''call for declaration of Biafra''. He acted as a diplomatic envoy for Igbos during the war, out of loyalty to his people, seeking international assistance to prevent Igbo annihilation.

When it became fruitless a year later, he told Ojukwu to end the war. Ojukwu refused, and Zik switched allegiance to the Federal Govt, and

But you guys have been accusing him of removing seccession clause from the constitution. It is on record Zik supported the declaration. Ofcourse, when he saw the casualties he chickened out. Ojukwu's fault is not making enough allies but the truth is that the superpowers had their own internal secessionist groups they didn't want to encourage by supporting Biafra.

Do you really think you're being patriotic to your beloved zoo by supporting impunity, falsehood and injustices?? For your info, you and your likes are the ones helping indirectly in bringing the zoo down.
