It has never been of use to the average Nigerian in the past 40 years

The average Nigerian likes it that way.
Being 200 million mumus, we are lovin' it like Macdonalds.

Calm down until oil runs dry and docile Nigerians refuse to have sense.

That's when you will see the real suffering because Nigerians will be taxed heavily and the tax revenue will be looted as all.

I have never seen a country as useless as Nigeria

1. I will be too old to care

2. The people who wasted the proceeds from the oil will be long dead

3. The next 49 years of oil will not make Nigeria any better than the last 64 years. Nigeria will still be under-developed.

4. Oil will have no use by then...

Day169:
This 'arrangee' marriage (Nigeria) was conceived by the couple's parents (colonialists), after an unwanted pregnancy (amalgamation) but it later waxed with love (oil).
But when the love is finally gone, what becomes of the marriage? The parties involved (major tribes) will eventually go their seperate ways!
PS.. but a divorce (disintegration) is hardly amicable. God help us!
The arrangee marriage that was formalised in 1960. The arranged marriage that the tribe that is now complaining promoted and fully participated in.

Why just the major tribes, what happens to the other 200 tribes who where forced into the arrangee marriage without even acknowledging they exist or matter? Don't they deserve divorce from the marriage and not be forced to marry another major tribe? The three major tribes behave like cry babies, they start throwing tantrums and plung the country into crisis once they lose power. The most mature tribes in Nigeria are the minor tribes, who disputes decades of marginalisation by the major tribes, they continue to move on.

Why will dangote be depressed. Dangote can buy crude any where to run his refinery and he can sell to any other country, especially west African countries. There are very few refineries in West Africa and most countries in West Africa, if not all of them import petroleum products.

And the Niger delta never could fight for resource control to develop human capital and infrastructures rather than sharing our oil resources with the whole useless country...

I pray I have left this country by that time..

Agree with you, except the crude oil is the bond of Nigeria's forced marriage. During the constitutional conferences leading to independence, oil was not a factor, but the delegates agreed to remain one country. Oil was discovered in 1959 and by then the constitution was already agreed to.

There are so many other resources in Nigeria, after oil, others will be exploited.

I agree. Without oil, we would have been much better than where we are today. The world expected much from us at independence, but we messed up.
Oil caused a lot of greed among politicians and even the military. It gave rise to our consumption economy instead of the productive economy we were building before oil.
After oil, we will be force to start producing again and fashion out a more reasonable federation, not the allocation sharing states we presently run.

It's possible. Break the constituents of water into its constituents - hydrogen and oxygen, and burn then in an internal combustion engines. The problem for now is your expend more energy breaking up the water than you can get from it.

It's true that there are many other natural resources, even the amalgamation of Nigeria came before oil discovery in 1956 but how many of our natural resources are being tapped like crude oil and how many give us revenue like it?The reason why the forced marriage remains is crude oil and the reason only core north feel uneasy to join the bandwagon of those crying for restructuring is predicated on black gold.
