@kerzhim, FKK was right. If OBJ was there,he would have crushed them.He would have nipped it in the bud before it became this hydra-headed monster that has become near- intractable now.
It's easy enough to criticise the likes of FKK and Reno, but these guys are clear thinkers. They have served in government for goodness sake. So, their experience counts a lot. You cannot just discount what they say as romantic idealism.

Obasanjo is a true nationalist who sees every part of Nigeria as his constituency unlike Buhari who is highly sectional. Obasanjo would have bombed sambisa forest back to stone age and razed to the ground any community that is seen to be aiding terrorist activities. How do you expect a Buhari that once said that any assault against boko haram was an assault against the north to confront terrorism head on.

Buhari's nepotism and tribal bigotry is a major impediment to the fight against terrorism.

Same Obasanjo that this evil Boko Haram started during his tenure and got out of hand during the tenure of the ineffectual buffon?!

Mumu FFK won't stop amusing us.
All his foolishness is only for his fellow zombies anyways.
You will see them masturbating to this foolish news n
soon.
Just watch.......

You are a very wise man.

FFK, All the money you stole and crumbled Our only National Airways as the Looting Minister of Aviation during the era of the ineffectual buffon will be your downfall Mumu FFK.
See him mumu mouth.....

Sarki did more than this you know. He has since been redeemed and now He is standing for the truth. vociferously supporting what is right and so on.

You guys play politics about everything, including basic facts about the insecurity of this country.

FFK just voiced his opinion and imagine how you are insulting and attacking him, trying so hard to justify the failure of this administration.

Bro you may be safe for now, but the way things are going, it may eventually go round the country and it may even come close to you. which I don't pray for or wish for.

Stop being this sentimental, and stand in one voice with several others out for the security of this country. that's the least we are asking for.

Agreed to certain extent. But let's remember Bola Ige, Okadigbo, Odi and Zaki biam communities. Who create religious tension in the middle belt starting from Jos north LGA in plateau state. Check all his ministers and appointees from middle belt and tell me their religion. You will know if you want to know. Buhari is facing a lot of saboteurs and he is a coward that cannot take the kind of measures somebody like OBJ would have taken. Upon that they are still calling him tyrant.

Highly unlikely because of the following reason....

The decades of neglect of the North East.

Boko Haram is one of the logical progressions of poor governance and failure to invest in education and social development in the North East. When people percieve that the government has failed, they turn to 'alternatives' like Boko.

That's why fixing the North East is going to be hard work, and it is the state and LG level that have the bulk of the job.

VERY TRUE TALK. IN MY OPINION OBASANJO IS ONE OF THE BEST PRESIDENT WE HAVE EVER HAD. THERE IS NO DOUBT HE IS NOT A SAINT, BUT ON THE GENERAL HE WAS SOLID IN MANY ASPECTS.
IT WAS OBASANJO THAT INTRODUCED EFCC & ICPC TO FIGHT CORRUPTION. UNDER OBASANJO, OUR NAIRA WAS ROCK STABLE & SOLID. UNDER OBASANJO, NIGERIA WAS NEVER AS INSECURE AS IT CURRENTLY IS. UNDER OBASANJO GRADUATES DIDN’T NEED TO GO THROUGH HELL TO GET A JOB, BUT RIGHT NOW THE LEVEL OF UNEMPLOYMENT IS PRACTICALLY UNPRECEDENTED. OBASANJO HAD LOTS OF TECHNOCRATS IN HIS CABINET, SO THE COUNTRY WAS MOVING FORWARD. OBASANJO ALWAYS DISPLAYED IRON HAND TOWARDS ANY INSURGENCY OR TERRORIST GROUP.
ONLY THING THAT MESSED OBJ’S LEGACY WAS THE MESS THAT THE 3RD TERM AGENDA BROUGHT.

I think we never know what we have until we lose it.

To add to your points above.

When Chief Obasanjo was sworn in on, he met huge debt of about $35billion (year 2000 figure), with Paris Club Consortium being our biggest creditor with $30 billion payable to them.

Our External Reserve was a paltry $3.7 billion, with the country in need of progress, institutions, industries, and need to fight corruption.

As at May 29, 2007, Obasanjo left a Nigeria with external debt of almost zero. Our total debt was $3.348 billion, which included debts incured by the 36 states of the federation.

In 2004, President Obasanjo created an account to save excess crude revenue accrued to the country, called Excess Crude Account.

The Account was $0 as at time of creation in 2004, but rose to $22 billion in December 2007 ($9.8b earned between 2004 and 2006, and $12.3 billion earned in 2007 alone).

In the area of External Reserve, the Obasnjo government performed extremely well by taking our reserve for meager $3.7 billion to a whopping $45 billion.

All these he achieved when oil price was $30(as at 2003) and it was at $90 when he left.

Why must we always go back to people that ought to be called Elder state men, to rule us?

Buhari, Atiku, Obasanjo, Babangida, Tinubu, El-rufai and an inexhaustible list are Elder state men. All these people should stop ruling us, if they really want to feel important, they should all form a cabinet under Young (Max. Age 52yrs) President.

Let us learn from the 1st world country that entrust their economies and security to young intellectual and not old brains, that ought to be retired.

oga!
theres one thing u should learn and compare really well with an open mind..
OBJ knew the reasons for the uprising of the militants then, and he solved it with the vice presidential slot, thn the President in person of GEJ.

we need problem solvers, a leader not delegating his primary duties to his CoS..
a leader that sees his nations problems and abandon foreign trips to tackle it with the support of ready service men and technocrats..

Remember; a saying goes, any conflict or uprising of whatsoever within a territory or nation that cant be silenced in the space of 24hrs, is government attached or sponsored in any way..

it's appalling when one sees a supposed informed Nigerian youth deviating from the fact, for the sake of sentiments. Obj refused to bribe the militants in the Niger delta . Eventually, he ended up taming them. I remenber how he silenced The political sharia. The people of odi would never forget this. During obj era, in case you were living in the moon that time, our oil reserves were at the highest peak since independence. Our oil export was stable. Who be that militia to gbemu? Asari dokubo self later bow to baba...Who born dem? The few attacks on expatriates were later curbed. I remember obj killing the head of boko haram that time. Nigeria was super peaceful under him. Our economy also received a boost. I pity my country with the kind of people we have in government today. Most of whom arent even worth to be local govt chairman

1.The debt relief was part of a package.
In 2005, several African countries had their debts cancelled. Nigeria got 67% of its debt cancelled (other countrhes had their entire debt cancelled). Obj paid the balance from our reserves (which some economic experts critiqued him for...I didn't and thought it was a good deal).
He certianly would have still had debt if it wasn't for that package.

2.Oil prices were on an upward trend rising from $19 in 1999 to $60 in 2007.

3.Also, our import needs were not as much as they are now.

Since Obj did not remove fuel subsides (which he should have, because by now, there would have been investment galore, and more refinereis would have been built as a result) and did not get us off oil (took us down to 88% of our revenue comming from oil...which is good)...economically he was not a good leader.

And on topic, what did he do about the neglect of the NE.?? (Nothing). Though the governors of the area take more of the blame.

Obasanjo was equally a coward. He allowed the festering of sharia caliphate in the north. He turned the other way when those fanatics started agitating for sharia law in states like zamfara and bornu..it was what led to the 2001 sharia riot where many easterners were massacred and a bloody reprisal followed suit in aba. Yaradua inherited his mess..not all of us forget history easily.
