the rate at which people commit suicide is now becoming worrisome even in Nigeria.
their should be public campaign against it and relief offers to potential victims

Suicide is caused by the spirit of materialism
As we evolve as a society with wants
A society which honors the haves and talks down the have not
Who reward fake lifes
Those who cannot bear the pains of being left behind
Those who cannot be contented with the life they have
Those who have allowed money to rule over them
These people have been possessed by the spirit of materialism
And the end result is suicide
Depression is not the true killer here but greed

Living in Nigeria is expensive, dying shouldn't be.

Was contemplating suicide (by jumping on a rail track) but this post might have changed my perspective a bit cry

Use the 3rd Mainland Bridge enroute the Lagoon instead of the rail track.

1. It's cheap
2. You will get to heaven cool.
3. You will get to heaven with your complete body parts.

Mental health issues need to be advocated for more in Nigeria. Socio cultural and religious systems prevalent in the country have led so many to untoward silence which has worsened their condition

Once upon a time

Nigerians where described as the happiest people on Earth .. who would have known that under APC and buhari Nigerians would spiral into a depressive suicidal epidemic ?

How ironic that Nigeria has one of the highest suicide rates in Africa currently, mind you 98% of suicide cases go unreported in Nigeria due to the following reasons: social stigma to the surviving family members, police negligence, and general lack of information.

Alas buhari will be remembered forever as a scorge that nearly blighted out the future of Nigeria

Nice and Long write up.... One solution I will want to suggest to the FG. Is to change the Normal railings on the bridge to a see through iron netted fence(2.7m high).... Though it might expensive but it will go a long way to help reduce the rate for jumping into the lagoon so easily...... But government should do the needful naaa. The situation is getting out of hand

Did you just say Nigeria is expensive? You need to go other African countries and live there. The government is not doing well, who are the people in the government, civil service? Ghanaian?

The most useless fact about this lengthy article is the lack of statistics that would tell us the number of suicide on the bridge since it's construction... Instead they gave us the statistics in other countries.

You didn't finish reading it. The writer mentioned that the govt should build a barrier to deter future suicide attempt. Thank you.

He had hurriedly disembarked from an Uber car that morning on the pretext that he had stomach upset and was nauseous. The car had picked him up in front of a hospital close to Sosanya Street, Gbagada-Soluyi en route to Ikeja airport where he would board a flight to Abuja – his parents’ place of residence.

So, what was he doing on 3MB? Just wondering ni o, cos the route from Soluyi to the airport has nothing to do with the bridge.

He was just telling us about the bridge.
Maybe he knows that government don't care so he didn't bother to suggest to them
