Wow congratulations on your admission. What course are you going for? Is it undergraduate or Masters or PhD? Cheers. [qquote author=Vokay91 post=87078077]Hello everyone, Masters in Employment Relations.

Firstly I would like to appreciate this platform and everyone who’s actively involved for all they do.

I have been gathering notes from this platform for some weeks now and they’ve been really insightful.

Please I have a challenge and I haven’t really seen people talk about it.

My dad and I bare different surnames.. I bare his grandfather name while he bares his grandfather’s. I have just been granted admission to MUN and I intend to use my dad as my sponsor for my visa application. I am confused, I don’t know how to prove he is my dad.. or am I just worrying myself for nothing ?

Please I need advice on this .
Thanks

I think if you can provide copy of your original birth certificate which shows your dad's name as your biological father will work. If you can show copy of your father's birth certificate and a sworn affidavit confirming what you have explained, I think you would have jumped over this particular hurdle.

Hi all,

For CAQ application, do I need to show "financial ability" for tuition and living costs covering for whole course duration or just the first year?

For CAQ application, do I need to show funds/provision for sustenance of family (spouse and kids) staying back in Nigeria, while I am away studying?

Can people with direct experience whether as applicant or with knowledge of similar application help with this question?

Thanks.

Good day, please my cousin wants to sponsor me to school in Canada. It is one year course in a college. I have been given admission. He wants to use his company account to sponsor me. What are the documents he needs to give me that i will send to embassy? I have a registered company since 2016, married, have a car, have a son. Please gurus in the house, help me out.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Nobody: 10:25pm On Mar 01, 2020
Using a company account to show as proof of sponsorship I must tell you it won’t fly
I would advice you are better off using a personal account

Please can anyone suggest universities in Canada that accept 2.2 graduates. My search has been fruitless cry cry

U cant do a masters in a Canadian university with a 2.2... it's close to impossible to be admitted if u apply.. your best bet is a college.. search for courses related to your bsc and not offered in Nigeria

Pls tell your cousin not to use his company's account as your sponsor.. once u do that, denial is imminent.. he should use him own personal account..

Dont be discouraged. As long as you can find someone to give you a statement of account, then you are golden.

Truthfully, I had less than what you have right now when I decided to start. I also didn't have up to that available for my spending when I arrived.

So you would still survive if you apply yourself and have a good spending culture.

Another thing/advice to all who are already in Canadian schools (colleges and universities)is to be actively engaged in your school’s sports activities, be it soccer/football , track and field. Many schools in the US will offer you full scholarship once you are good in your chosen sports.

I’m a recipient of US full scholarship via football/soccer after my college education in Canada. The Nova Scotia community college has a very good soccer/football program and sometimes they play matches against community college teams from the Eastern USA. So get involved in your school sports teams, you never know what opportunities awaits you in that aspect.
Congrats!
It would be wise to also consider longterm plans like securing your permanent resident status before moving to the states. The ban would currently hinder you from getting same in the USA. So calculate your move very well.

you can, but I don’t think you can get a scholarship for post grad. I got mine over 10yrs ago when I was in my late teens and it was for undergrad. But no harm in trial
This explains it grin

When you’re ready to apply for school in Canada, just go for a 2-year program in any college outside of Ontario. It’s cheaper, stay away from 4-year university because the funds you will need to present at the embassy is too high.
College programs are cheaper and since it’s only for 2yrs, you’re only required to show proof of funds for 2yrs as opposed to proof of funds for 4yrs. Besides, colleges are cheaper than universities and you can always transfer to university after your 2yrs of college. In that case, all you need to get your BSc is additional 2yrs of study in the university, since you already have 2yr-diploma from a college.
This was how I did mine. I graduated from a Canadian college (2yrs) and transferred to a university in the US to obtain my BSc within 1.5yrs. Good luck and wishing you all the best

This a good plan but it is not entirely true.

Firstly, you are not required to show proof for the entire duration of your program. You only need to show proof for 1year only, then show the source of the funds. Not all colleges are cheaper than the universities in their yearly tuition.
Example:
The college in brandon, manitoba (ACC)charges about 14-16k for tuition. The university charges about 12-18k depending on your degree.
So your primary focus should be on securing that with a lower yearly tuition.

Secondly, depending on your type of degree, obtaining a USA degree may make things more difficult for you if you intend to remain in Canada. This is because when you bring that degree back to canada(mostly for professional courses requiring licensing) you would be regarded as an international graduate and face the same trouble like you schooled in Nigeria or Europe.

So that means I have to send 2 mails to the school; my secondary school transcript and university transcript separately... Guess I gat to burn more money grin
Thanks for the advice
Note that it can also be REJECTED.
The university is already aware of the format your school uses in typing these transcripts to them.
1...it is addressed to the school in a typed up letter attached to the transcript
2....it is stamped on the flap after sealing it and signed
3.....I dont know about your school but some schools indicate student copy on the transcript they give to their students.

My advice:
Put in the work and stop trying to cut corners. You might end up penny wise.

I'm not, but i know someone who is a citizen. Can i use their details?

Or Do you know any company you can recommend?
They would need to pay for it with their credit card. You can sign the consent form and send it to them to help you process it.
My thoughts on you doing it yourself is thar your IP address clearly would show you arent in canada and you may not know what their legal name is. Also, you cant do it without their consent as that would be impersonation.

I don't have any specific company to refer you to. Sorry!

Ok sir. What if he decides to transfer the cash into my account. I will get the bank statement and take it to embassy? What if he also gives me his personal and company bank statement. He may not have much in his personal account like he will in his company account.

You don't need to show any proof of finance for CAQ.Complete the CAQ form, attach a passport photo, photocopy of ur international passport and admission letter .The proof of finance will be done during study permit application.

Good day house.
Please I was rejected on the 29th February but I haven’t gotten any refusal email telling me why I was rejected. I applied through the paper route but later linked my application online. Please how long does it take to get the refusal email?
I plan to reapply soon so I need it.

Hello everyone, please I need your experience based input.

Is 4month statement of accounts acceptable from my sponsor?
I read online through the cic page that 4months statement of account is what is needed, but people have been saying 6months.

Has anyone used anything less of 6months and got approved?

Please contribute

Mine was done over a decade ago and back then (I don't know of now), right after graduating, you can file in for your PR (a.k.a Landing papers), and while that's in process, if you show the CIC proof of your pursuit of further studies in the USA, (in my case, was via scholarship), they issue you what they call minister's permit that allows to go across the border back and forth, until you get the final Landing papers. But you're right, one must consider the long term plans.
Things weren't as stringent back then as they are now.
