The end is neigh for Abubakar Shekau, the Boko Haram terrorists kingpin, as the Rewards for Justice Programme of the U.S. Department of State has offered a whopping sum of $7 million, which amounts to N2.5 Billion, to anyone that has information about his whereabouts. I hope this will entice those hiding such information to come forward. It is my prayer that it will lead to his arrest or elimination too.

I doubt killing shekau will stop BH madness or others. Especially since they are affiliated with ISIS, they will simply chose a new leader

exactly. BH is more than just a terrorist group, its d doctrine those guys stand for that should be destroyed....elimininating shekau is tantamount to cutting the branch of a tree and not uprooting it.

Shekau's death will worsen the internal crisis between the terror groups. They will continue to fractionalize.

Will? Said it like it's a fact.
His death might actually consolidate all factions under one umbrella group, point is, it's all guesses, we don't know, all we can say for a fact is, his death won't end anything.
Fraction or not, that won't stop them from killing or hitting soft target. In fact it there is bigger fracture, it makes them more deadly, if no one is truly in control, some group might simply embark on more civilian killings in a more brutal way, not like it's not brutal as it is

Shekau's constant re-appearance in public has always been a morale booster for jihadists foot soldiers and sympathisers.
He's the only known face attached to boko haram. Taking him out will be a huge morale booster for the govt and general public and a moral killer for its followers.
I've always been of the opinion that he's nowhere near the war theatre.
These terrorists understand that in wars like this, propaganda is a necessity.

And i bet they also understood that their current profession have a very short shelf live.
So Shekau is the leader of BH, and you think he's the only leader? he is the face, sure, but like i said, take him out, another member of their so called council will take his place. Moral boaster for us, sure, that won't stop their killings

MY 2kobo. We really need more power down at infantry level. Its nice to be able to call on the air-force for strikes, but to go on a full offensive, weapons and tactics are necessary. The tactic side we are not lacking, but weapons and communication down to infantry or platoon level is key for a successful punitive ground assault. I dont think MRAPs should be used for search and destroy.Light attack helios can be used for that. You dont want to lose MRAPS if you are not taking and holding ground. The MRAPS should be saved for punitive expeditions where they are used with IFV's close at the back and tanks further out.
We all know that technicals are a problem for our infantry and bokoharam use them in a shoot and scoot tactic if we have a strong defence present. The armoured solution real time is IFVs , in the absence of IFVS, for the GI, smoke and frag grenade launchers are a must at platoon level.Smoke for concealment and frag as an indirect weapon when under fire.At company level ATGMs, (like the HJ 8,9,10& 12 ) is a relatively cheap real time alternative to constantly calling on airstrikes for technicals. Also,Sentry drones with IR, Night vision and Laser range finder, far ahead of base camp is also a must at platoon level. It will give the commanders prep time and tactical advantage in a fire-fight.
Our Infantry need to be able to go forward at all times but are being slowed by mines and technicals. We have to be proactive, both in assaults and hot pursuit tactics. We MUST NOT be slowed down by these problems when there are solutions out there,no matter the price.
The Army Command needs to raise its game.

A gang of gunmen believed to be Boko Haram fighters Wednesday night attacked Dapchi village in Yobe State.

Dozens of houses were burnt in the attack, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

Dapchi is a town in Yobe State where schoolgirls were in February 2018 abducted from their dormitory by the Boko Haram. The girls were later released in a deal with the government; but one of the girls, Leah Sharibu, was held back because she reportedly refused to denounce her Christian faith.

Sources in Damaturu, who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES, confirmed the development. They said the attackers who invaded the town in large numbers may have inflicted serious damage on residents.

It was practically impossible to call Dapchi residents because the insurgents had grounded all telecommunications installations in that area during an earlier attack last week.

A government official in Damaturu who confirmed the development to our reporter on strict condition of anonymity said “they invaded Dapchi through Jimbam village before wrecking havoc on the town.”

“They burnt many homes during the attack, but no one can, for now, confirm whether there were deaths or not.”

(Viewer's Discretion Adviced)

ANOTHER FAILED INVASION ATTEMPT AS OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE TROOPS MASSACRE MARAUDING BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN DAMBOA

A misguided attempt by some criminal Boko Haram elements to attack the troops of 25 Task Force Brigade (Army Super Camp 2) located in Damboa LGA of Borno State has met a crushing defeat in the hands of the resilient troops. The marauding criminals mounted on Gun Trucks and with a number of their foot soldiers attempted to infiltrate the troops’ location from three different fronts in the early hours of 4 March 2020.

The troops responded swiftly, bringing to bear superior fire power against the criminals in conjunction with the Air Task Force Operation LAFIYA DOLE. The encounter which lasted over an hour witnessed one of the most debilitating defeats of the Boko Haram criminals in a single encounter since the turn of the year. So far, 19 Boko Haram criminals’ corpses have been recovered while many more were observed escaping with various degrees of gunshot wounds by the troops who are on vigorous exploitation of their initial success along the criminals’ withdrawal route.

Interestingly, the gallant troops captured from the Boko Haram criminals 5 AK 47 Rifles, one General Purpose Machine Gun and one Rocket Propelled Gun tube. Regrettably, 3 valiant soldiers paid the supreme prize while 4 others were wounded in action. However, the wounded in action soldiers have been evacuated to a military medical facility for immediate and effective management.

To this end, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai hereby congratulates the troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE for their decisive victory against the enemies of our country. He further urges them to remain steadfast, loyal and resolute in the discharge of their professional responsibilities. He further reassures the residents of Damboa and indeed the North East at large of the unflinching resolve of troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in protecting the lives and properties of all law - abiding citizens.

You are kindly requested to disseminate above information to the general public for awareness. Thank you for your usual cooperation.
