Very true. Murtala Abacha and Babangida remain the best leaders we had. Just imagine how nigeria would be without them. Infrastructure we have today was built by them. Roads they built many years ago are what we are still ply on today. Most standard structures in nigeria universities were built by them. What they build today is not of standard. I wish we go back to the military era |

Senator Smart Adeyemi is very right. Military rule is better than the present democratic government in Nigeria. Our leaders are working for their pockets not for masses, that is why they can do anything to get into position. |

And this is a man people killed themselves over to bring to power in the battles for Kogi West. The solution, to his and his colleagues inability to govern effectively according to him is to destroy the very institutions that enables him make the stupid statement. How can one be so retarded. It goes once more to show that these folks just donot have answers to anything. They are just incompetent and incapable of rising to their responsibilities and I blame Nigerians for tolerating such mediocrity in the face of the myriad of national problems besetting Nigeria. Mr Smart (complete misnomer). Do you consider yourself value for the millions paid to you to do just one job, legislate to make our lives better. Please. 2 Likes |

Nothing better. When was he born? Corruption started during those military regime time. Abacha, OBJ, Babangida n co. looted Nigeria deeply. The foundation they laid is what the current democratic government is building upon. The problem starts when they started believing in one Nigeria between a very diversified people. It was the amalgamation that produces the shithole we have now. 2 Likes |

Only someone that has been cheated and fallen victim to injustice by election riggers and electoral malpractices will agree and make such comments. Someone that rigged himself to power will disagree. There is no free and fair election in this country |

Slawormir: Yet you ain't educated enough to read properly of what smart Adeyemi said " the military era is better than our democracy we re currently running'. He hasn't called for military to take over and ofcourse he said the truth. All the best infrastructure was achieved during the military regime, as much as there was corruption, there was discipline not the way someone will claim an Italian has virus just to be able squander money, Italian we haven't seen or how snake swallowed money or to renovate National assembly for 30Billion etc 1 Like |

Democracy has not worked in Nigeria because, most people are clueless, which isn't surprising because the Nigerian constitution is the chief of cluelessness on why, how and, when it works. The underlying principle is - Absolute power corrupts How do you stop Absolute power from resting with solely one indivdiual or a group of individuals leaving the vast majority at their mercy? Install checks and balances at every point. Power is dynamic - it is the ability to do work/ability to get a thing done or things done ----- Just like energy can neither be created nor destroyed but transferred from one form to another, so it applies to power in a given location. A cell for example that has lot it's ability to suppress divsion will to replicate uncontrollably to it's death. A Government that does not revere it's people is a cancer --- and will die a slow and painful death. The larger share of the power should rest with the people - through voting that's not just limited to once every few years but to votings that's conducted when the people indicates that it's needed. |

I have said it time without number, military regime is 100 times better than democracy regime we have here in Nigeria. All major infrastructures and amenities are constructed by the militaries. All highways linking south to North, south to east, infact all over the nation are constructed by the military. Our democratically elected Presidents have been constructing Lagos to Ibadan, the Niger bridge, refinaries, sea ports for decades. I still remember how colonel Marwa, then Lagos State governor single handedly constructed major roads from cities to streets to villages, massive electrification project lighten up rural areas. IBB constructed third mainland bridge, he didn't put toll gate but when this mumu people came to power, they constructed few kilometres of bridge linking ikoyi to lekki, they put their ATM toll gate. I still remember how IBB uses the DIFRRI project to construct roads and electricity to villages. Tell me what democratically elected ones have done for the pass 21years apart of embezzlement of public fund. Look at Lagos to Ibadan road, second Niger bridge, our refineries, sea port etc which they have been constructing since OBJ era. If they are to construct Lagos to Kano road, won't they construct it till they kingdom come. I personally preffer military to democracy regime because I have been opportune to withnes both. Imagine seeing touts, criminals and grade one illiterates high jacking elective post because they have boys, guns and illegal money to sponsors there way through. Over 50% of the elected senators, representatives, house of assemblies and councillors are either touts, criminals or forge certificate to be there. I pity Nigeria, them say make we go school, we go school, spend years and pay thousands of naira, if not millions to be educated, still we still dey Waka about street looking for what to do. Yeye country. |

How ironic it is that a man named "Smart" should be so incredibly st.upid! Didn't this knuckle-dragger live through military rule, or was he born yesterday? Or perhaps he thinks all the Abacha loot the FG is still recovering simply fell from the sky? At least the younger ignoramuses who long for military rule can blame their ridiculous comments on the lack of meaningful history teaching in Nigeria's failing school system, but Adeyemi has no such excuse. To yearn for the days when men in khaki could steal with impunity while jailing journalists, bombing newspapers and hanging community activists like Ken Saro-wiwa is the height of depravity, and ought to be enough to earn automatic expulsion from political office in a half-sane country - which Nigeria has never been, especially not when men like Gowon, Buhari, Babangida and Abacha were f***ing the country up. 6 Likes 1 Share |

helinues: Every word he uttered was apt and on point... How exactly has 20 years of democracy outperformed the same number of years of military rule??! He did not categorically say it is preferable to return to military era, as the moronic Senate President would like you and I to believe, rather, he was quite clear on the pressing need for this democracy to actually function by an electoral reform that will ensure only people of tested leadership and integrity get anywhere near key decision making positions. Many of you are not intelligent on this forum... Pity!!! |
