IDENNAA: U have misunderstood me.. Tell me what Awazeim has been doing in the RB role that Shehu didn't do when he started playing the role ? This isn't light and darkness issue at all..they are both makeshift right backs..they should make way for natural right backs while they play their normal position... 3 Likes 1 Share |

poseidonsaiz: Timo Werner is better than Martinez ,Martinez cannot even average 1 goals every 2 games and you are here saying something else Go to that same google and see Werner stats Why won’t they buy Martinez when he is argentine and he plays with Messi ? Please tell me what is special about 17 goals in 48 games ? Are you going to compare it to 71 games in 117 games ? Thank you |

Danielnino00: Until we get a natural right back who can play better in that role we will continue to use make-shift right backs. This is not an issue of they making way for any natural right back player. |

AllforJesus7: They are in a "rebuilding process". Plus they have not been doing well at age grade competitions for the last 8+ yrs. They are now reaping the fruit at senior levels. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by ChrisKels: 8:34am On Mar 06, 2020 |
Icon4s: Can u define that "rebuilding process" as regards this sqaud? Sure you know the ages of bulk of this squad? Besides Salisu, Ghana does not have any other quality young player U23, Myron Boadu wouldda been a good mention, but, no how that boy is slipping off the fingers of the Royal Dutch Football Federation |

Who else noticed Martial was totally rubbish yesterday and even had the guts to get angry that Ighalo went for his hattrick. To make matters worse he stormed out right after the match. |

Friday03:Enough of makeshift arrangements. It distorts the balance and the dynamics of the team. Now that we have natural RB, let Awaziem slug it out for his own CB role. |

Mujtahida: The natural right back should slug it out with our regular starter in the position. Awaziem has performed too well for us to write him off just because we have a natural at the position. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli:Well for now yes but ultimately as the team reaches peak evolution, I'd prefer a situation where as much as possible particularly in defence players play their natural position. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 10:23am On Mar 06, 2020 |
ChrisKels: Rebuilding is not limited to young players. This is a senior national team. And so even if you plan injection of new young players you still need to keep some older ones for a balance and transfer of experience. You steady the ship first with the available players and then you start the injection of new blood. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 10:31am On Mar 06, 2020 |
Mujtahida: Modern football is dynamic. These days footballers typically find 2-3 positions cormfotable to play in. The National team is such that if you have deficiency in a position you cannot go to the transfer market to get a player for that position. And so the best bet is to convert one of your utility players to fill that role. Utility players are priceless especially in the national teams. That is why they will always make the squads even though they maybe termed "average". On a new Natural Right Back, he first has to prove that he is better than our make-shift right backs before he can get a place in the team. Not because he is a natural RB then he has to walk straight into the team. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 10:42am On Mar 06, 2020 |
Icon4s:NO doubt modern football is dynamic but all I'm advocating for is that players like Awaziem (he's done well in the RB) should play in the position where he is most suited which I believe is CB if the natural RB comes good. No matter how dynamic, players have positions they are most suited for. The less makeshift arrangements we have the more balance there'd be in the team. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by tbaba1234: 10:43am On Mar 06, 2020 |
Awaziem is more solid defensively but Ehizibue will give you more as a right back going forward. He is also comfortable as a right winger. His pace helps him get up and down quickly. It depends on what we want. If we are under pressure, Awaziem might do better there. Ehizibue can even play infront of him to tighten the right wing. 1 Like |

Mujtahida: That's all nice and dandy but guys should still be there on merit. The security we have with Awaziem at rb shouldn't be understated. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by tbaba1234: 10:49am On Mar 06, 2020 |
I also prefer players in their natural positions. I.e The positions they play weekly at club level. They wouldn't have to make major adjustments from their weekly routine. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 10:50am On Mar 06, 2020 |
Mujtahida: He still has to prove he is better than those we have in the CB pairing. Talking about players' best positions. Player A's best position can be Position 1 and his second best position can be Position 2. Meanwhile Player B's best position is position 2 but Player A is still better than player B in position 2. Then let player A play position 2 except if player B proves he is better in that position. Simple. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 10:56am On Mar 06, 2020 |
tbaba1234: This is the ideal situation. But the truth is that these days there is hardly any national team that is adequate in all positions. This is why utility players always make squads because they are used in make-shift positions. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 11:01am On Mar 06, 2020 |
oloriooko: Well for me it could be either hit or miss. Let's not forget that Martial didn't do so well when Zlatan took his number. That said I feel Ighalo must start against City. Otamendi and whoever will not want any parts of him. I would play Mata on the right and James on the left. Also my prayer request from now will include Paul Pogba. That guy will be immense for Ighalo. He spots those runs easily and we all know the quality of his passes 1 Like |
