Adams and Sanusi can be categorically addressed as a former as at this moment.

Its not a new thing though.

Oshiomole has been referred to as former Edo State Governor.
Sanusi Lamido has been referred to as former CBN governor.

To be a former 'something' will happen to everyone.

Former" is regarded as more formal than "Ex".

I still refer to my babes(not dating at present as former coz they were good people). Ex has this negative connotation associated with it.

Once u hear people say ex this ex that. Beef dey follow grin
