Is This Akwa Ibom's Biggest White Elephant Project? Akwa Ibom is going to spend 5 billion naira on a 8,500 seat church. Do you plan on sowing your seed at the state church? What should the state be spending the money on instead? https://akwaibomstate.gov.ng/ebudget2019/eBudget/mobile/025300100100CH.html 11 Likes 4 Shares

Lol Akwa Ibom states religious zealotry is comparable to the jigawa. They're one few states who are willing spend state funds build a religious center. Akwa Ibom could have used that money to improve the water supply to homes but that's not a priority. Why provide a real service to the commuity. Compare how much they're spending on a church to the water supply. They're cutting the Akwa Ibom state water company's budget. Its the same story with rural water budget. Dont worry they're ready to collect your tithes and offering very soon. Ps: the church budget is actually much higher. GreatResearcher: GreatResearcher: Athiest, buddist, cultist, or satanist they'll find something stupid to do with the money. Lol they'd would rather see a church or stadium being built then a befitting public school to send their kids to. Tomorrow the same people voting in clowns will be looking for who and what to blame. Ps: interesting side story. 18 Likes 4 Shares

What a waste of Public funds on religious grounds As if the number of churches in the state is not enough already 5billion Naira would go a long way in alleviating poverty in the state instead of this nonsense Africa is indeed in trouble 68 Likes 5 Shares |

Awol1: It's deceivers yet true project. Any country or state that invest such amount in Religious buildings while school buildings are left to rot is not serious about its future. While they should be thinking of building standard world class primary and secondary schools, they are building churches. Can Akwa Ibom proudly post pictures of world class education facilities (primary, secondary or tertiary) built in the state? 21 Likes |

Rank stupidity! Who needs schools, hospitals, potable water or even well-maintained roads when you can build yet another mega-church where the gullible can be parted with their "tithes"? It's obvious why the state government is building this - white elephant projects are an excellent way to steal huge sums through contract inflation, kickbacks, etc. - but what I don't get is why the masses who are being deprived of essential services for such ridiculous purposes never rise up in arms at their leaders. What exactly are they personally expecting to get out of such spending? 21 Likes 3 Shares |

Akwa ibomite are not religious zealot or fanatic that should be compare to jigawa state like the Op alleges.. We just found ourselves govern by a pretender who was expected to be in the league of technocrats like fashola and peter obi, But since he lack idea on how to create something epochal like his peer ,he resort to religious foolery which ruler that lack vision use to hoodwink its people... Udom lack vision and Akwa ibom are paying for it 5 Likes |

powerhouse3: Lol the comparison is apt. Who else is budgeting billions for a chuch? Did the people express their displeasure on social media and at the state assembly? They overwhelmingly voted for these clowns. Dont start making petty excuses now. The idea for this project was thought up in Udom's first term. He had the ground breaking in his second. Akwa Ibomites were not hoodwinked. 4 Likes 1 Share |
