ceaser: You made a purchase and checked how much was deducted? They debited me at a rate of 377. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 12:54pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
BetaTechnicians: I was actually surprised with testimonies about GT. I have known them to charge high rates so I just try to work with USD card as much as possible. You can get their USD debit card |

mctfopt: Thanks. Please like what is the price range, before I get swindled with inflated price? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ceaser: 1:54pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
BetaTechnicians: Oops. I only reckoned with the check out price that was written in Naira. Perhaps I'll have to compare to what was deducted from my akanti. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ceaser: 1:55pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
ojeysky: How to go about that? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 2:37pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
ceaser: Get a USD account, sign up for a debit USD card, that's it. There are some annual charges though |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by BetaTechnicians: 2:42pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
ojeysky: How about funding? Wouldn't that be your duty? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by BetaTechnicians: 2:44pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
ceaser: Just did a second transaction on alibaba and rate was 368, aliexpress transaction was about 3 hours ago |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by BetaTechnicians: 2:45pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
ceaser: 2k per meter should be fair, more or less. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by eleojo23: 3:07pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
BetaTechnicians:This is still good. I am ok with anything less than 390-420. |

BetaTechnicians: I chatted GTB customer care and they told me today's exchange rate is 368. Access told me today's rate is 380 but it was 415 yesterday |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 5:34pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
ceaser: A seller just told me 2 feet is 8k. BetaTechnicians: Yours is definitely cheaper |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 7:11pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
BetaTechnicians: The thing is unless something has changed recently, I found GTB rates to be more than what you get from Aboki |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 7:17pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
mctfopt: Perhaps there is a thickness aspect that impact the pricing, do we have any picture of this thing |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 7:38pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
ojeysky: Of course the thickness determines the pricing. Check copper bars in either building material or electrical shops. Make a choice from what you see. It looks like this picture from a jiji seller https://jiji. ng/ojo/building-materials/copper-bar-11643575.html As usual you gotta join the space in the url. |

mctfopt: 2ft for 8k ? The market is free |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 11:11pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
BetaTechnicians: Just reporting what a seller said. Not in any way associated with said seller. In open market, any seller can sell at whatever price he likes. The onus now falls on the buyer to buy or not. Also most of these sellers ain't that educated, so I won't be surprised if he is giving me wrong info. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Systrom(m): 8:04am On Mar 18, 2020 |
Quick question on inverters Charging my inverter batteries from the grid / mains (PHCN) while using a prepaid meter will be consuming my meter token/units very fast. And charging with a generator will be burning fuel and still end up reducing / weakening battery life. So what’s actually the purpose of inverters? As either way, it’s costly and you end up losing |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 9:44am On Mar 18, 2020 |
Systrom: Inverters (with inbuilt chargers) provide you power from your battery and charges your battery. You may consider including solar set-up to reduce the cost on metered utility supply. 1 Like |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by eleojo23: 9:59am On Mar 18, 2020 |
Systrom: You are only looking at the money aspect. Have you forgotten that you will be having 24/7 electricity with the setup plus PHCN? If Nigeria were to have 24/7 electricity, we will not be paying all these 1k, 3k or even 5k+ we pay as electricity bill, it will be way higher Anyway like someone said, add solar panels. That's the only way you can truly say you are off grid. 3 Likes |
