When will you realize that Nollywood is different from Igbo movie. The n stand for Nigeria and the character cut across. Just because some Igbo producer dominated in the 90s and early 2000 and out of tribal sentiment prioritize Igbo cast does not make it Igbo movie, though we were misled to describe it as such because there were no words to describe Nigerian movie then. Nollywood only started coming to use in 2003.

Aside the Igbo producer like chiko Ejiro and Zeb Ejiro, there were others with more sophisticated production like Tade Ogidan. Tade Ogidan move were always top notch and his cast were not dominated by actors of Igbo extraction. Several brilliant Yoruba actors and actresses participated. Some of his movie were the block Buster's of those days, out of bound, dangerous twins and others.

The pioneers of Nigerian movie were in the SW. That some Aba business men and drug dealers came into it later with tribal motives does not make it Igbo films. If you want an Igbo moviies produce it in your language and make the character mainly Igbo. You can't bank on the talent of Olu Jacob, the beauty of Omotola and the charisma of Ramsey Nouah and call it Igbo.

That Yoruba based movie came to compete with the English version is a testament to the advancement in South West. Can you showcase isimbido on international stage. The west has gone far ahead of you and you have to deal with that.

The best days of Nollywood English was in the late 90s and early 2000s. The greed of Igbo marketers is responsible for the decline when in 2004, they suspended all the big star, Omotola, Ramsay Nouah, Nkem Owoh and other just because they demanded a better pay. These guy's went to America for a movie premiere in 2003, there it was agreed that Nigerian movie should be called Nollywood and Indian Bollywood. Ghanian weren't even on stage. They came back with knowledge of what their counterpart earn abroad and they started challenging the marketer but rather than considering their case and negotiating with them, the marketer employed high handedness and banned the actors. That was the origin of the actors independence.
