my brother I don't know what is wrong, almost going to 2 weeks now not even 1 seed germinated, this is so frustrating,I guess the avenir seed is now Russian roulette,so batch germinates ,some don't.

I guess the Avenir you bought have the technisem logo imprinted on the top lid? if yes it's part of the recalled / condemned batch. There is a way of identifying their latest production batch

you don't have to look further this is how Cameron variety looks like,it's smaller than avenir ,spicier and easy to get instead than avenir, the pic below is two nurserys we did same time on 50 gram avenir and other 20 gram Cameron pepper, after more than two weeks no single avenir germinated, zero germination, but the Cameron pepper has 85% germination,I think the results is there for everyone to see.

I am very familiar with the Cameroon pepper. The peppery level no be for here, avenir is still a learner for pungency.
SW dont patronize it, I have not seen d fresh ones in SW b4. It is only SE that patronize it in Lagos market, and not even fresh, the black dry ones.
For better marketability, if I want to commercialize it, I wl need to learn how to dry it. The dry ones are very expensive here, just 2pcs inside small cone-shaped nylon is N20 in Lagos. And that 2pcs is more peppery than other N50 convectional pepper.
But why is it black in dry state while other pepper wl maintain their red colour in same dry state? And how does one dry it?

The popular one is furadan. Its sold less than 1.5k per kg. Its tiny granules like ewedu seeds.
When you finished dressing your bed, broadcast it same way u broadcast ewedu seed. Slightly incorporate it in by using rake, then wet it after or before applying your seed.
.
May be sellers are cheating u. Furafan 1kg is sold for N400 in Onitsha main MKT.

Am not talking about the seedlings, but the seeds pls i need it badly, I have bn searching to purchase it. All markets here really crave for the Cotonou variety. Though the fruits are smaller than avenir and co, they assume all big fruits are not peppery

The seed is scarce here as well but I will ask and get back to you if I find any

For real boss? Hope is not fake? If its real I dont mind buying 10. I have bought 1.5k at retail and 1k at wholesale outlets.
Tho Mr okoro once told me the fake is in market which i do not contest due to its porous packaging.

Hmm. I don't know if it is fake or not but I have used it and had no nematode problem so far. The one u bought for N1k, how does it look like? My own look like colored sand and from what I have read online, furadan is normally mixed with sand to dilute it.

I believe it is blanched before drying and that makes it dark in colour.

I've been told that AgriTropic recently took delivery of a new batch of seeds. I guess that's the ones that may be doing better than their earlier(stale) batch. Na ETNA I dey plant oh thanks to you guys.
I also started some Aboki variety last week and they are doing fairly well.

Intendy:

oga okoroemeka when was this nursery done? cause my recent pepper nursery is 8 days old today (Avenir) and at around 40% germination

Which seed is that.

I think your nursery is bad because

1. there's no source for sunlight.
2. the soil used is not fertile, anf you also had a bad germination rate. you wet too often etc

this is what you call good germination ,
what you have there are damping off seedlings.. and seedlings craving for sunlight

My 12 days old Avenir hot pepper. I needed to reduce picture quality to enable me attach it successfully.

Did you nurse them with tomato seeds?

Oh I see, seeds were gotten from open-source. Reason for the few tomato seeds.
Understandable.

@Jidestroud I sent you message via your email. Kindly check

Thanks

This is Aboki variety. Seeds obtained from pepper seed sellers from Kano/Bauchi. This trial is meant for half plot just to determine how well they do.

Yes there is at least 6hours sunlight daily.

The seed in this case is not the issue but your agricultural practices.
You can source your seeds from the open market and still have a good harvest.

Thanks, I see different breeds (local n hybrid). Ok, let me put it like this. In terms of growth rate, shelve life and fruiting. Which one performs best?

go for hybrid.. if you can afford the seeds.. but if you're inexperienced and this is your first time going into pepper farming, I advice you plant local opv seeds to avoid stories that touches the heart

Well done guys, you guys are great for keeping the trend alive.
From my sales record book for last year,i discovered that I made some good profit from my chilli pepper than the habanero. When there's drop in price we sun dry our chilli pepper and stored, which we later sale at very reasonable price when there's rise in price but we couldn't do such to habanero pepper we just have to sell when the price is high and low. With this development I have decided to do more of chili pepper this year 70% , 30% of habanero. The seedlings are already on bed doing wonderfully. See you guys later ..

I have a sneaky suspicion that chill is more disease resistant to pepper viral disease than habanero or bonnet.

This is the new trend o,I cannot come and stress myself for 4 month to sell at a ridiculous price, dried chill even return higher profit at a specific period of d year

Na so brother, chilli pepper make sense . At the peak period both sell at almost the same price.and when the price drop you add value to chilli pepper by sun drying .

How much was it when sold at the cheapest rate, and what type of chilli pepper did u plant. Because I am going into pepper (5 acres) this year and I am familiar with avenir type but not sure about others
