Most of the reports i have seen is about "returnees", all these returnees brought calamity on us... Personally I'd have advocated for people to stay wherever they are.. it's the most effective way to contain the disease. Stay and don't infect people here... But a country would find it difficult to close it's doors on it's citizens abroad... Remember we never encounterd something like this before, unprecedented is an understatement... As safari said about natural selection, some people will die, many will live... Me, I kannat die... |

Health workers , Essential duties personnel, Government officials, Security and law enforcement officials, Religious leaders , Opinion leaders , Media, Every citizen.. No need for unnecessary civil wars . We need EVERYONE to work together. We are on the same side . We are fighting the same cause . Let’s share positive information. This is no time to prove superiority over another . We can defeat any form of this scourge as we all play our roles . Those who pray ,pray . Law enforcement, enforce regulations, Health officials and government, tell us what to do , Media - don’t play to the gallery. Citizen .. Take instructions. Bashing pastors and religious leaders at this moment isn't love for humanity. its just a window to vent your already deep seated animosity and bitterness. Moreso,it's cheap tokenism. In such times we all must come together and fight a common enemy and not highlight your own parochialism. Stop hating. Let's spread information. Courage . Education . And not use this to fight civil wars By Pastor Chris Segun Onayinka |

Starboytwo: TheGoodJoe: https://www.nairaland.com/5658831/coronavirus-travellers-china-lagos-quarantined/1#86224553 This was my comment January, 30, 2020. You can see how much time we had to prepare and get things right but this incompetent government chose to play football with people's lives. I think it is time we wake up and fight for positions in this country. If we continue allowing selfish fools to run our lives, we will pay the cost of their stupidity. Let this be a lesson to us and time we seek for the right leaders to run this country. Men of high intellect and moral standing. This has been a terrible episode. All we can do now is to pray for a miracle. |

Danielnino00: On the emboldened, I disagree. Nigeria has only 5 laboratories with Covid-19 testing capability. 2 in Lagos (LUTH and NIMR) and 1 each in Edo, Osun and FCT. This is too poor. Ideally, every state should have a laboratory capable of carrying out the test. As at March 18, these 5 laboratories combined had done a total of 68 Covid-19 tests. https://ng.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/covid-19-information/ I don't have the current data but this shows clearly we are undertesting and the actual number of coranavirus cases in the country could be more than the figures released by the Government. To put things in perspective, all countries that embarked on increased and widespread testing with aggressive contact tracing recorded astronomical rise in cases. In the State of New York for example, (a megacity just like Lagos), as at March 1 there was only 1 case of Covid-19 but as at today the state has over 20000 cases. What changed? Answer: Aggressive & efficient contact tracing, increased and widespread testing in the past 2 weeks. Bottomline - we are not doing enough tests so take the numbers released by the Government with a pinch of salt. 1 Like |

A few weeks ago Safarigirl was telling us how Coronavirus will not survive among black people.....something about our genetic makeup being stronger than white peoples' and other nonsense of the sort. She was telling us how closing our borders and taking other proactive measures will amount to "identifying with white people". . At the time I just siddon dey look am. Now breeze don blow..... This is what happens when you substitute common sense for wokeness. To Safarigirl, I hope you go out and mingle freely with as many people as you can this season. Remember, your genes are superior! 13 Likes 2 Shares |

TheGoodJoe: I am now in enforced LOCK DOWN add to that LOCKED out of Nigeria effectively. So time to reflect Our so called political leaders have always been self seeking, they have never cared, so what's new. Corona reminds of the saying that the UK, USA, etc is a leveller, no impunity and no big man. Corona has levelled our politicians they are not immune. Trying to replicate the temperature climes of the West artificially with A/C and thier uninterrupted 24hr electricity will speed up thier deserved demise. Covid 9 thrives in lower temperatures, let them keep feeling cool. The poor who are forced to endure the hot harsh virus burning tropical weather, will inadvertently reduce thier propensity to the virus. Particularly if they can observe good hygiene and social distancing. Finally, undoubtedly without any reservation, there is God that's able to do the impossible and keep you safe more so if you know him. Write up sent to me Our chickens and guinea fowls are coming home to roost. Atiku's son is positive. He is in Gwagwalada hospital . He can't fly to Dubai. The president is in town. There are no international conferences. If he needs attention, he will have to use the state clinic. That expression 'we die here' is now so real. Once we become full of the virus, no one will allow any of us into their country. If we have no test kits, then we stay here and dig graves and bury our dead. If we have no ventilators, then we will use table fans. And die like that. We die here. Abi? If the Bishops and Imams refuse to listen, they will listen when the churches and mosques are filled with sorrow tears and coffins. If NASS members wont submit themselves to tests at the airports , the chambers will become filled with Corona virus and become distinguished viral laboratories. Nobody will be flown to London or Germany. Those of us abroad will stay abroad. Let everybody sit down somewhere. I hear our girls in Italy have hunkered down. There is a snake in the monkey's shadow. I wish the virus could hold hostages and demand ransoms. It could have helped us get our stolen wealth back. For the first time in this country, if a minister falls and breaks his head, he will have to remain and be treated at home. There is no test facility in the whole of the north and none in the east. Yet we have governors. Yet we have thousands of Teaching Hospitals. Look at Port Harcourt. Nothing! UNTH and UCH can't test for Coronavirus. Tufiakwa! But it's good. Better. If it's die, we all die here! together. Dr.Ugo Egbujo A friend sent the write up below to me. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Thanks for the gloating, I hope it protects you from the virus At least the virus is going for the big men. Like I said, I have never seen the point of panicking when you live in Nigeria. All of you that panicked, did it stop the virus from coming in? 1 Like 1 Share |

komekn: Komekn welcome. I Was thinking of you just yesterday, and wondering how UK lockdown was treating you Stay Safe sha. The theory of natural selection will come into play, who will die will surely die, and those that will survive will survive. The politicians are some of the most vulnerable to the virus. So, all their poor decisions will eventually blow back on them. As usual, there is no action anybody wants to make that will stop the virus and will not negatively affect the nation. People that the virus won't kill, hunger will kill them in the name of lockdown. Nigeria is a country that depends highly on imported goods, from fuel to diesel, food and equipment, this is a consumer nation. So, the biggest issue is not even Corona being in Nigeria, it is the lack of self preservation in the country that will deal with the country. A nation that is the poverty capital of the world, Corona virus in Nigeria is not even the problem. Even if it never came in, by the time the economic impact of US, UK, and China closing down, hit this country, the virus will look like child's play. Nigeria doesn't even have foreign reserves, no savings, everything wasted, so that Abba Kyari can travel to Germany and import the virus, and Buhari can receive treatment for headache in the UK Corona virus is not our main problem. 166 people have died from lassa fever this year alone, no alarm was raised. Why? Most of the people shouting about Corona virus did not hear of them, that one doesn't affect them. I sha hope everyone has stocked up for the next two weeks. God help the poor and less privileged among us Welcome back, and we hope we are all here at the end of this virus. 7 Likes |

do4luv14:that one isn't contagious currently. It can only happen where a person inhales the fumes from an infected rodent's feaces, dem no dey transfer am from human to human. To be sincere, it wasn't Chinese people that spread this virus. Most of them were in their countries. It's the Europeans, and all the wealthy people that wouldn't sit in one place, that spread it. 1 Like |
