Kekekenny: Figures announced EVERYWHERE in the world are obviously less than actual cases... Not only because many are asymptomatic, but because the only way to get accurate figures is to test EVERYONE - which is impossible.. > 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Masking: I'm sure most developed countries would have contained it by then. If China can, they can I however worry for Italy. Italians are known for in discipline and for having a disregard for the law, hence the corona nightmare they face. I hope they may be turning the tide by then. Then you have Spain and perhaps Greece. I'm worried both may go the same way as Italy, Greece especially as it's notorious for inefficiency and a shoddy state. Most rich world nation will contain the virus. It's containment that is key for now and not elimination of the virus. Once contained, various lock downs will be lifted to various degrees and life will begin returning to normal. That is already happening in China. For Africa, my feelings are mixed. Because foreign travel by us isn't much, the virus reach here is limited. However, due to poor state of health infrastructure and lack of sufficient personnel, containing it may prove challenging. Foreign financial aid and technical assistance will eventually be needed and the world would have an interest in containing it down here lest it resurfaces there again. It needs to be contained everywhere before things can go back to normal. 15 Likes 1 Share |

etibaba: Emmyrichboy: Sijo01: brainworkng: While COVID-19 is a novel (new) coronavirus... Thus far it shows the same lifespan as with other coronaviruses (flu, etc.). The medical evidence so far is that, unless a person has underlying health issues, the COVID-19 generally has a 14-day (or less) lifespan. Accordingly, A 3-WEEK COMMUNITY-BASED SELF-ISOLATION AND SOCIAL-DISTANCING SHOULD BREAK THE CHAIN OF INFECTION! Even in those who have the virus but are asymptomatic (that is, not showing any symptoms), the virus will work its way out of the system in about 14 days or less (again, unless there are other underlying health issues). Furthermore, the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of confirmed cases (about 80%) will recover and many confirmed cases will only have mild symptoms. It's a virus, but the greatest danger with COVID-19 has been the high and fast rate of infection, which raises the danger that many cases at the same time will overwhelm the healthcare system with sheer numbers. The evidence thus far is that COVID-19 might well be around for a while... But the best way to break the chain of infection and to flatten the curve (of the rate of infection) is SELF-ISOLATION and SOCIAL DISTANCING.. Therefore, this is NOT going to be a case of "government this, politicians that"... This time EVERYONE has a role to play, and our COLLECTIVE conduct will determine COVID-19's impact on Nigeria! Good luck to us all! > 21 Likes 2 Shares |
