Tourism is not about "world class" infrastructure. In the villages there's tourism, even Soweto has tourists. Mzoli's Place in Gugulethu is also popular with international tourists because of the ambiance. It's just a regular kasi chillout spot. Forget about your kayelitcha and gugs,Cape Town remains one of the best cities in the world in terms of infrastructure. Most tourist come there just because the city offers the best city life.Those few who goes to gugs,are just adding some extra stuff in their package,but the truth is,no one is paying thousands of dollars just to come drink a cheap beer in khayelitcha.
Same applies in TZ, tourist come for Kilimanjaro, national parks etc,they stay in superb hotels,but after doing all what they came for,they add up village tours,school visits,etc.
You can't run a best tourism industry without having infrastructure.
Have u asked yourself, why are the same tourists don't go to Congo,or somalia,or chad,or south sudan and drink beer with the locals?
