MrEgghead:But why is everyone rushing to federal university despite the fact that their jamb score can fetch them the same course in state University. For example me, I have tried UI 3 times now, beside are you a doctor sir |

Damson22: As far as a school is duly accredited, there's absolutely no difference. Cost and program stability/continuity are reasons why federal schools have more applications as compared to state schools. |

can someone transfer to medicine after graduating as a dental student pls I want to know and the level they will start me if it is allowed |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by ejehijustice(m): 7:25pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
Jerrypolo:Yes, you will start from 500L after which your dental certificate and licence will be withdrawn from you... Dentistry is not inferior to medicine, it is a specialty of medicine that has carved its own niche for political reasons. Finish your dentistry, I am sure you will fall in love with it and not even think of switching later. Dentistry is tough bro, it is a combination of medicine and dentistry, so be prepared to work your ass out. All the best! 3 Likes |

Damson22:Many people prefer federal universities because of their school fees, taste and presumed prestige. You can easily get MBBS in other federal universities than UI. UNICAL and UNIPORT for example. I'm a medical student. |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by MrEgghead(m): 7:45pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
Jerrypolo:If you enter through DE, you'll start from 200L, that's the norm. I heard there's a short process of getting MBBS after BDS but I don't know if that's realistic. |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by neuroboy4: 7:55pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
ejehijustice: You know, It's wierd how Dentistry is a combination of Medicine and dentistry. I've heard the same from someone else. |

neuroboy4: Nothing weird. I just think the usual statement of 'the combination of medicine and dentistry' has being over stressed. |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Nobody: 7:27am On Apr 05, 2020 |
Damson22:State universities are very expensive. Again, some candidates are fascinated with the popularity and big names the federal universities have made for themselves. But medical school is the same everywhere. Moreover, the only difference between third world medical schools and European or American medical schools is solely technology (Hi-Tech equipment and facilities). Aside that, some of the lecturers trained abroad. |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Nobody: 7:35am On Apr 05, 2020 |
ejehijustice:It's not true. Just show me someone who has done that. While a medical doctor who wants to study dentistry will enter 400 level dentistry at UNN, the medical school is silent about admitting dentists into 400 level medicine. So, it's not a reality. In India, dentists wanted a bridge course to switch over to medicine, but medical doctors resisted it. It's only practicable in America and the UK for those who want to specialize in maxillofacial surgery. |

Mandeyy:Hello Chief Mandeyy, Is it advisable to go become a Consultant OMFS (Trauma Maxillofacial Surgeon) in the UK perhaps after FWACS/FMCDS? Looking at the one year VTE, series of exams(ORE/LDS, MJDF/MFDS, MCRS, FCRS) and having to go back to Medical School for MBChB/MBBS. I earnestly look to hearing from you. 2 Likes |

horpeyemmi66:Nigerian medical fellowship isn't recognized by the UK. So, even if you become a consultant maxillofacial surgeon in Nigeria, when you get to the UK, you'll have to start all over again. 1 Like |
