Sanctions Bro sad sad

Like seriously? You are saying if we had showed up with the cash that China would had refused to sell weaponry to us? Or Russia? Or Sudan? Sanctions don't cut it please.
Now there are no sanctions, do you see massive equipment increase? Also, why did the sanction came into being? Would we be under sanction if the NA conducted itself in line with international best practices?

Oh, I do know about US sanctions. The same sanctions are making sure Cuba and Iran can't get the drugs and equipment it needs to treat its citizens. And did you know the US just bought ventilators from a Russian company that is under its sanctions. Ironic much?

You know we can't withstand US sanctions like Iran or Cuba. Egypt was threatened when they wanted to purchase the Kamov helicopters from Russia. That shouldn't be an excuse for the ineptitude of the Army though.

Hmmm. Have you looked at Algeria? They have more Russian and Soviet weaponry than you or I have ever heard of, from the T-90 to Kilo submarines. I am not hearing about any sanctions against them. And the Americans you are talking about recently purchased Russian helicopters for the Afghanistan government.

Even if Russian arms are denied us, Italy, Britain, Switzerland, Finland, Turkey, South Africa, Sudan and so many other countries also sell arms. Is the US going to sanction us for buying arms from Italy?

Dude stop lying, it’s like lying his in your DNA.
The north east theatre his forked Big, BOrno state on its own is way too big and our neighboring borders are way too wide and porous.
Dude during the darks where BHT where occupying over 8 local government area you would learn how to use the word “freely” well.
How many years have you spent in Borno ?

Sometimes last year truly that Monguno - Maiduguri road was a death trap, but what you guys don’t know is if you want to put military check points or base at every border line or roads will make the military capability stretched which will inturn make them sitting ducks to terrorist attacks.

So in other words you guys don't know what else to do.

There are local OEM manufacturers all over eastern Europe looking for sponsorship and they will produce anything you want for you. These are ex soviet scientist and engineers who went private. What some nations are doing is to sponsor those companies and use them to mass produce weapons at cheaper rates.

Yeah, I'm quite surprised by Algeria and Egypt's case, even Serbia (a strong Russian ally) was threatened when they wanted to buy the S400 sad sad

I think Nigeria should go for Russian weapons. They're cheaper, reliable and their delivery would not have any political undertone. We should have gone for the Su 25 equipped with latest avionics instead of going for that Super Tucano which won't be delivered at anytime soon. The Su 25 is the perfect platform for this COIN war judging by its performance against terrorists in Syria.

The problem lies with the decision makers and I doubt the president's situational awareness of what's going on in the North East. The man is senile and old, but I don't really blame him. angry angry

As far as I know, majority if the weapons that has been delivered to Nigeria are either from Russia, belarus, ukraine, Czech, or China.
We've paid for some other weapons that the countries are finding it hard to deliver...... JF17
Now that most people have agreed that the US doesn't seem to want us to get weapons and that we can get from other powerful countries like china and russia like we've done with the drones MRAPs and helicopters. If US is serious about weapons not reaching us, it won't reach us. At least those weapons won't just appear in Nigeria.
I recently mentioned a case that some of us here know about pakistan wanting to deliver weapons to nigeria, and the C130 was intercepted in saudi airspace and forced to land in a saudi airport. The cargo was siezed and nothing has been said about it till today. I have been searching all over the net for news about it to no avail and would appreciate if anyone can provide a link.
That being said, I agree that our political class are corrupt and inept and even without foreign weapons, we should have fully defeated bokoharam a long time ago though it will be tough and cost a lot of lives.

True. Geographical dynamics make the war unwinnable. No matter how many defeats the Taliban are handed, they can rest, recover and get more men and material from Pakistan and other countries. Or just buy weaponry from the corrupt and ineffectual Afghan government. The US is not going to invade Pakistan for this sort of thing, nor will it openly punish countries that support the Taliban as a way of weakening the Great Satan and ending its hegemony. That is the main reason this war is unwinnable and the same holds true for the Vietnam war and Soviet war in Afghanistan.

Get all the Taliban in an open battlefield and let them face a Marine Division and let's see what happens grin Nothing will happen though, because the Americans will win. But the Taliban ideology is so attractive that they will get fresh recruits within days and more material to replace all their losses. And the war will continue.

What some here can't understand is that some countries lend the Taliban their support because it keeps the US and NATO tied down and degrades their ability to wage conventional war. It also makes them expend money and resources they can barely afford. Just imagine the US using B-2s, B-1s and F-15s to bomb the Taliban. What do you think the flight time cost of these platforms are? If they can use these kind of weaponry to bomb some dirty dudes with AKs, are they going to use space ships to bomb the Russians when they flood through Europe on their way to eliminate NATO and rip Merkel a new one? grin

But does the same geographical and political considerations hobbling the US and the NATO alliance hold true in the North East? I absolutely don't think so.

Thank you two completely different scenarios.

Getting arms from the former Eastern block is like buying sweets from a candy shop.

Anything you want can be got for a fraction of the cost of USA and Western sourced arms.

Do you know l can get a used BTR 80 for less than what it costs us to get one Toyota pick up gun truck.

Agreed without one iota of reservation.

The Sukhoi Su-25 frogfoot (flying tank) is your best bet, double the payload of the A29. It's operating costs are probably lower than the SA29.

Finally, Las Las, with some diplomatic Maradona and procurement ingenuity across the Eastern block.

We can pick up 24 very easily and depending on thier spec. Retrofit them with updated avionics and weapons suite. 12 within 7 days 24 within a month. Average cost $ 4/5 million. We will not have to wait 4/5 years before first delivery.

It's not a complicated plane to fly, so they should be operational within two weeks. The dont require high grade fuel.

The money paid for the tucanos was already with the Americans, part of the Abacha loot with them. I am not sure we could have done much regarding choice and I also hope we could get SU25 soon sha.

Idriss Deby reveals: Nigeria supports Chadian forces in routing Boko Haram.

President Idriss Déby of Chad has revealed that the Nigerian government supported his country’s military onslaught against Boko Haram.

Deby who has relocated from Ndjamena to Boga Sola in the Lac Region said Nigeria provided ‘fairly substantial equipment’, in support of Operation Anger of Bohoma..

You see what we're saying!!!
Just because Chad busted their Warehouse and killed obviously not up to 100 insurgents you claim Nigeria has nothing tangible
What about the fall of camp Zero
The Rocket Facility busted
The series of operation In 2016/2017
The single Airstrike conducted by NAF Mi17 helo that killed 300 including shekua wife
The Operation in Auno where BHT told villagers they were coming to attack..
The army switched from defense to offensive
The Operation Thunder strike and Green sweep that has been taking out High Ranking BHT commanders
Not to talk of The Deadly RUWAN WUTA 1 and 2 that saw the CH-3 drones in action striking targets almost on a daily bases
You can't compare this single chad operation to any I've listed here..
They did well I love the chadians but over hyping them because of this single operation is uncalled for
None of their operation can be compared to the one I listed her...
So the over hyping should stop..
