kabe1: No offence, but U sure say that tiny mosquito go fit do all those things u talk? 12 for $329 million equates to $25m+ each. With that kind of money, we can still do better. What happend to the su25 someone mentioned? We still can't overemphasize the importance of dedicated gunship platforms as well as armed UAVs for 24hr all weather surveillance and attack. Air force needs to address that. 6 Likes 1 Share |

phazotron: Tiny but the sting will bring hell and destruction from above. This Tucano jet is specially designed for COIN operation and quote me there is no assets in its class that cheap, easy to maintain, that can bring destruction to terrorist, precise munition and targeting system .......etc I know why some people don’t like this jet, one it’s a turbo-aircraft and solely for COIN and it can never be used for air power projection. But we have a serious internal problem we need to deal with, we can always get aircraft meant for our air space cover and power projection in the nearest future. Until few days ago no body knew the army was doing some serious shopping which deal was activated almost a year ago. Who and some equipment are still coming in from Russia and Eastern Europe. 2 Likes |

PRESS RELEASE STOP DEPICTING THE MILITARY AS BRUTAL IN YOUR DRAMA SKITS 1. There is no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a variety of measures to stem its spread in our country. Some of these measures include restriction of movement, lockdown and stay at home directives which are being enforced by various government and security agencies. Some creative Nigerians found it expedient to provide comic relief through the production of funny jokes, graphics, drama skits and video clips to entertain the public. The materials are circulated through social media. 2. Unfortunately, most of these clips circulating on social media bordered on the Nigerian soldier and projecting the military as lawless, brutal and being harsh on people flouting the stay at home order pursuant to the lockdown and stay at home directives imposed in some states in Nigeria. There is no doubt these drama skits and video clips denigrate and cast the military and the security forces in a bad light. 3. This development creates a wrong impression and general perception of our soldiers negatively and projects them as undisciplined and brutal. Thus, creating an erroneous impression of the military. We are well trained and dedicated professionals that perform our Constitutional duties diligently and dispassionately with utmost regards for human rights and rules of engagement. 4. It is wrong to continue to produce such drama skits, video clips and graphics at the expense of the excellent image of the Nigerian soldier. It affects troops morale and has a broad implication for national security. No nation or good citizen make jest of its military. Therefore, we are appealing to well-meaning Nigerians and producers of such materials to desist forthwith. The military or security agencies should not be made the subject or focus of those skits at the expense of a key and strategic arm of the security architecture of our great nation. 5. On our part, we will continue to discharge our Constitutionally assigned tasks professionally respecting human rights and rules of engagement. We will also investigate the source of such props and costumes and ensure that military uniforms will not be used to denigrate the military. Nigerian Army Air components is still a pipe dream. I don't see any tangible thing happening to that effect even in 5yrs time except something urgent is done. You can't be talking about establishing an air wing with our pitiable defence budget majority of which goes into recurrent expenditure. Infact we don't have more than three operational T-72 tanks as of present. We hv not really seen the need to look for other sources of funding the Military other than the annual pitiable budget, if truely we have leaders that can think it won't be difficult to source for at least $2bn yearly from the private sector/public apart from defence budget to fund the military. Out of the VAT sef 2% can be budgeted strictly for purchase of equipment yearly but we no dey reason in this part of world. |

GENERAL BURATAI ON A TOUR TO ARMY SPECIAL SUPER CAMP NGAMDU, * Directed Troops To Brace Up For Final Defeat of Insurgency * Assures Troops of More Fighting Equipment In continuation of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai's tour of troops' locations in the north east theatre of Operation, the COAS has assured the troops of Operation Harbin Kunama IV of the provision of additional military hardwares and platforms to enhance the speedy completion of the ongoing war against insurgency in the North East. The troops are on training at the army special super camp at Ngamdu. He directed them to take their training seriously in preparation for the speedy conclusion of the war against insurgency in Nigeria. Gen Buratai gave the assurance while addressing troops at Army Special Forces Super Camp Ngamdu in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno on Thursday the 9th of April 2020. He said that the Nigerian Army had taken delivery of more equipment and platforms that would be deployed to various theaters of operations across the country. The COAS directed the troops to take advantage of their new additional equipment and platforms to hasten the final defeat of insurgency in Nigeria. He further enjoined the officers and men to ensure that the recent setback experienced does not deter them from defeating the terrorists and assured them that with more commitment, courage and resilience insurgency will soon be history in our country. According to him, "as you all know, we have been on this ground for long and I expect us to remain resolute, selflessly committed and push for the total defeat of the Insurgents in the coming days". "I assure you that what is remaining is very small but it will require us to put more efforts, more determination and more courage to complete the remaining part of the battle soon". Recall that of recent, we had setbacks which must not be allowed to happen again, - We will not allow any further casualties both in men and equipment. Recall that the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gen Buratai has been on operational tour to various troops' locations in the North East theatre of operation since on Monday the 6th of April 2020. He also visited Army Super Camp 1 at Molai and the Special Forces Super Camp 12 in Chabbol near Maiduguri on Wednesday. COAS was also at the Forward Operating Base at Alau Dam, outskirts of Maiduguri and also personally led the troops on reconnaissance around Mairimari Forest located southeast of Tamsu Ngamdua in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State. Similarly, the COAS went round Maigilari Forest in the east of Tamsu Ngamdua in the southwest of the same Mafa Local Government Area. These areas are generally seen as the routes and directions of approach into Maiduguri by the Boko Haram/ISWAP Criminals. 1 Share

phazotron: Just check out the bombs we bought from America and cross reference it with the ground attack bombs the US has in it's inventory, you will see that I am right. Intact, US SOCOM (special forces command) will buy 75 units of Super Tucano to be used by US special forces. The SU-25 is a much better ground attack plane than the Super Tucano but it lacks these important attributes, low maintenance, ISR capability, Loiter time (over 10 hours) and low flying cost. The Tucano can also be used to train Nigerian air force JF-17 fighter pilots. This is why the Tucano is a better option. We need a lot of UAVs, not just armed ones. If you look at Russia and Turkey, even Iran in Syria, you will see that they employ a lot of UAVs in combat. This has proven to be effective. But Russia and Turkey will use UAVs to track terrorists for hours, when they head back to their base the UAV will relay coordinates to fighter jets that would come and bomb the place or artillery to shell the place. Very effective. Watch how Turkey used UAVs to trail these guys and neutralized them with F-16 fighter jets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9z8FbJ589s 1 Like 1 Share |

How will they convince their people to support that senseless action, you forgot they are advanced democracies? France can do it for Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Mali, CIV because they surrender 60% of their wealth to France, why will France do it for you? No need to mention the US, can you pay the US to fight your battles? You think sensible countries will sacrifice their people for a useless refinery like we did in Sierra leone & Liberia? Look at your mouth & sense of entitlement, they should fight for you, are they your house boys? if you can't fight your battles why did you bother asking the same global powers to grant you Sovereignty? You would've remained an overseas British territory so British SAS will fight for you. Nonsense!! 7 Likes 3 Shares |
