The concept of Tax is you give 10% of your total profit (it can be daily,weekly, monthly or however you decide to pay it) to the church. The tithe is then used to take care of the full time pastors who have no other work than pastorate work.

Sure, there are some pastor that has abused this concept and they are practicing whatever it is they are practicing (Which can’t be Christianity really).

Some misconceptions:

1. Tithe has nothing to do with your salvation. There are even some believers that don’t pay their tithe to the church they attend but some to other church’s and some to the orphanage.

2. Tithing is not a fast money scheme. Just like every giving, the general belief is that if you give out, somehow you will get it back. This is where most misconceptions about tithing comes from.

I’m paying tithe not because my pastor forced me to pay but I pay because I want to be one of those who use my resource to help the church. If I stop paying, no one will hold my trouser.

Where are they killing twins now, to start with? You would just bring unreasonable things. No pastor should do what is against the law of the land. Tithing is a religious belief that is not criminal, by law. So it shouldn't be faulted and called a fraud.

I have this uncle of mine. He's the richest in my extended family. He imports in one of the markets in Lagos. In fact, he's a known name in that market. A multimillionaire to be specific.

This man is religious and so believes in tithing. To the extent that his sales girls must calculate his tithes from every day's sales and pay it in the bank that day. If they make any sale after they've paid, they will add it to the next day. He has a particular bank account for his tithes.

Now me, I'm not a consistent tither. I pay when I want and if I want. But when I discuss with my uncle. He tells me

"If you know where and what tithing has done and taken me to, you won't ask me to stop"

So what should I do? Argue with him that it's a lie? It's his experience. It's his testimony. I don't believe in it doesn't change the fact that he saw something in it.

Second story

In my previous place of work, one of the secretaries was my friend. We talked and all that. So one day, we were discussing about spirituality, and I said I don't believe in Witchcraft ( truly o don't). S

She laughed and told me I know nothing. She told me her story. She has only one child: a girl. She was barren for 17 years....17 good years. There was no form of healthcare they didn't try, but they could find nothing. They even tried surrogacy but it failed.

The issue I have with all these stories of relatives holding destiny is they are illogical.
1) you are assigning divine power to humans or lesser beings

2) if I had diabolical power, why would I not make myself rich instead of making someone else poor? Like all that child witch nonsense - why would a child make his parents suffer when that suffering would transfer to him? The whole point of selling your soul is worldly success

3) the funny thing is that even fraudsters will tell you they are children of God and attribute their success to God's will. There was a surreal episode on 419eater where the fraudster was telling the scambaiter that his god would deal with him.

There's no scientific proof for that as today's science is yet to explore many technologies that ancient civilizations could master.

My sources are from some literature on the extinct races and gods and goddesses. Not the kind of things that would interest an atheist.
