Have you tried to talk with your husband on how you can support him to get back on his feet, is he willing to get back on his feet?

It is better you start working with him to stand up and be a man so you can have your own home, it is more peaceful in your own home.

Who's going to take care of the baby? The step mum?

To those saying get a restraining order, I'm not sure how that would be useful in OPs situation.
A restraining order means OP has to move out of her father's house , because that is the abode of her step mother.
Her step mother won't move out for her, and they can't be together in the same place
Now if OP moves out, there would never be contact between them ever again anyway, so what is the point of the restraining order?
I doubt the stepmom would care if she never sees OP again.

I will never understand how people get married and have kids in certain conditions

OP, why are you waiting for your husband to give you money for everything? Didn't you have a means of making money before marriage?

I'm so sorry if I sound harsh, but do you people think marriage can run on vibes and Inshallah? At the end, the only victim here is an innocent baby.

Why will you birth kids you can't sufficiently care for?

At first, I was wondering why you wouldn't be with your husband, but even he, is living at the mercy of his sister, why won't your stepmother do anyhow, when she knows neither you nor your husband are capable of bringing hail and brimstone upon her?

This is the worst time to be stuck in the same house with an evil witch.

I pray your daughter heals, and I pray God protects her, from whatever harm that witch will want to further inflict on her, but you cannot protect your child, when you live at the mercy of the tormentor

Anything can happen at anytime.... I am blessed with 4 girls... We are both doing well and have source of income in 3 places.... My wife is working and I am working too... I quit my job
and said I should for focus on my other job where the profit is high.... Which is the greatest mistake of my life now..... Not everybody give birth just to have babes....Don't judge anybody if you are not in their shoes or know what they are going tru. They may both have plans for their marriage and didn't work out the way they expect it... We learn everyday...

Did I insult anyone? Why will you insult me unprovoked?

I am a very wise person, that is why I have my own means of making money, and my husband losing his job will not make me so broke and homeless, I have to return to my father's house and live at the mercy of an evil stepmother with my baby

The only fools, are people who have kids without stable, certain income from BOTH parties. If you had any sense, you would agree with me, but foolishness and an idiotic need to have children you are incapable of caring for, will drag you into impoverishment and engaged your own kids.[/quote]

I'm married with one kid. My husband lost his job when I was seven months pregnant. We are no longer living together. I'm back to my dad's house with my step mom and 4 siblings.

Things are not easy for us here because my step mom hated us from day one. She only cooks for herself, my dad and her children. She don’t give me and my baby and my brother from the same mom food. I have been managing with the little money I get from my husband. I do cook for us to eat that’s a story from another day.

Last week I went to meet with my husband to get money he promised to give me to stock up foods for us during this lock down. I left my baby with my brother only for me to come and meet my brother carrying my baby. She was screaming in pain and when I looked she had burn in her body from her right chest to her right hand. I almost collapsed because I left my baby very fine in good healt.

My brother said my step mom was preparing tea for her kids so she had left the hot water in the pot and my baby fell on the hot water. I got angry at my brother how could he be careless not to watch my baby when he knew our step mom don’t like us. I almost hit him and my step mom didn’t care. She acted like nothing, not even a sorry to me. My dad says I should be quiet accidents do happen and it’s nothing to be angry about. His words really shocked me but what can I do.

What pained me is my little sister of 5 years opened up to me that it was my step mom who poured water on the baby because she caught my baby eating her bread she left and she told her to keep quiet if she tells she will beat her and she pleaded with me not to tell her mum.

I knew she did it because she is very wicked but because I had no proof, I had to be quiet but now her daughter has confirmed she did, I want to deal with her because am so angry seeing my baby in so much pain.

Why pour hot water on a baby just because of bread? I hate her and I want to pour hot water on her too while she sleeps so she can feel the same pain she put my innocent baby.

Should I pour hot water on her too or what is the best way to deal with this witch?
Pls let it slide....it's an accident..my little daughter fell of the bed today even while I was so close to her... wanted to pick up my phone... didn't see her trying to cling on me...her cry really hurt me...
Things like this do happen so I won't want u to take it too personal...for ur own peace of mind
I understand that u are deeply hurt ..just take as an accident

I don't know the nonsense people are saying on here. Pour hot palm oil on her if you can't find acid. But you'll have to wait till a time when you're able to move out of the house, so far away where no one can contact or visit you except your husband. Not even your brother. That witch must get a taste of her own medicine. I'm suspecting you're yoruba.

She has every single right to feel entitled. It's HER FATHER'S house!
Is that what grown-up married women do in Germany?

They go back to their FATHER'S house and feel entitled to getting fed by their step-mum, when they aren't contributing financially to the house?

It is not feasible.

To go to court, you even need a lawyer, from where will OP get a lawyer in this situation?

The court will say what they want and the household will do as they please. The fact that OP's dad was passive about the harm that came to his grandchild, shows, that when it comes down to it, he will kick out OP for his wife and nothing will happen. A married woman has no business in her father's house, if she wants peace, she better get out of that house, because a restraining order won't do jack, the stepmother has kids she can still send.

The entire idea is not even feasible. No be everything court fit settle. She can't even prove the stepmother hurt the baby, her own brother said it was an accident.

Miss, do you know that there are provisions in our laws that protect kinds from harms way? This is a toddler being abused by a grown ass woman. If the OP is serious in pursuing the case there is an organization called federation of women lawyers in Nigeria and I can assure you that they will jump at this case. The OP already has a confession from the woman’s daughter, all she needs to do is to find a way to record her statement and use as an evidence in court. (Na everything human right related, court fit settle- that much I can tell you)

One thing is - most Nigerians do not know nor understand their rights and that’s why people trample on them at will. Having said that, until the father decides to ask her out of his house, she has the right to stay there despite being married. Marriage doesn’t negate her entitlements it might be limited in this instance but it’s still there.

You cannot preempt the court and orders are binding on all parties involved. Should anyone go contrary, that will be adjudged a contempt and the person is liable to a prison time.

I don't think that is possible with a 10 month old baby. Who's going to take care of the baby while she's at work? And for any kind of work she might be able to do from home, a capital will surely be needed

Life is dynamic, thinks can get silly so quickly and things can get juicy so quickly too. Different folks with different life experiences, it can happen to anyone. One can't be termed squarting in one's parents house moreover life's vicissitudes took her there temparily . OP please don't do anything silly the worst you can do now is get her reported to the police for possible prosecution in court apart from this give her an arms length and stay cool it will be well with u sooner than u expected. We should all learn to accomodate and help people who are in need
All that aside, she shouldn't be feeling entitled to anything.

Providing a bed for her to rest her head is already a big favour to her.

Where are the so called innate maternal instinct and innate female nurturing nature that bluepill agents have been talking about? The very same falsehoods that has led people to wrongly believe mothers always care and love more than fathers. Don't let anybody deceive you, males are the kinder, more ethical, and more compassionate gender.
Thank you Martinez, you have said the truth. Even this OP would do same if she is in the step-mum shoes, women are just naturally wicked nothing more.

But that my comment was not directed to the Op, it was to the guy I quoted that said his wife was packing his excreta when he pooed in a potty, what kind of disgust is that? Come to think of it self, is the man handicap that he can't pack his own excreta? Must a woman suffer to show a man that she loves him? Can't a woman show that she loves a man in riches? I hate when people dignify poverty as if its an achievement, it is a sick mentality.
