@raumdeuter, afrodoc, Ibime and all..Which national team do you think is underrated in history?

Mine will be the Netherlands team of the late 80's/ early 90's with Van Basten, Rijkaard, Koeman, Gullit and A. Winter.

On this story making rounds on Keniebi Okoko, I understand that when the power cut and backup gen wouldnt come on, the surgeon apparently cut something in the confusion and he bled out. It wasn't due to anaesthetic failure. I understand the surgeon has been arrested. Please who is liable in this case between the Hospital and the Surgeon?

This word underrated just like overrated will be subjective

When we were kids playing football, and we used to give ourselves the names of famous footballers, Baresi was usually the only defender whose name boys chose. In the midst of Rummenigges, Platinis, Van Bastens, Gullits, and Maradonas.

Would Nigeria have won the 94 ANC had the Zambians not had their squad decimated by the plane crash a year prior?

Teams can't be underrated I don't think, only individuals. A teams rating is based on results.

The new team performed better than the old team funny enough

I can argue against that but again, that may be a subjective argument like Dayo said. So maybe I will rephrase and say which team will you say does not get as much hype as the popular ones?

The Dutch team got much hype. I would say the Germans of 1986-1990 didn't get any hype from their consistent performances. Brehme is not put up there with the best left backs and Mattheus is never mentioned with Baresi, Maldini et Al for example

Teams can definitely be underrated. A great example is my Madrid team that won 3 straight champions league. They are not talked with the same breath as pep Barca even though they were better not because of achievement but style of play.

Underrated? I will actually say they are overrated. Most people rate them not for their achievements but style of play.

They can make that argument, the old team was very strong I still remember Chikabala and John Soko from Senegal 92, It was the set that dazzled in Seoul Olympics

Our team too was very strong so I cant say for sure, we beat a strong CIV in the semi though on PK

That is why I said I can make an argument against Ibime's thoughts that only players can be underrated, not teams.

Germany from 1982 to 1996

1982 world cup finalist
1986 world cup finalist
1990 world cup winner
1992 Euro cup finalist
1996 Euro cup winner

Thats probably one of the best run of any team in history

That for me will be Japanese female team. Those ladies play good football. As far as I'm concerned, they were the best team of the 2019 female world cup. I don't think they got much recognition

Finally, I've seen a like mind.
I thought I was the only one that noticed how good those Japanese ladies were. Their lack of a good striker in a mould of let's say Oshoala that could turn in goals from their multiple created chances was their undoing.

Their passing was good , they play like Pep's Barcelona, but without a Eto'o or Henry to put those final balls into the net. if they could sort their issue if la k of striker, I see them winning another world cup by 2023

I know this is probably stupid but do you know I imagined them playing against our super eagles and actually thought they'll win grin . That was how good they were.

I look forward to watching them in 2023. Hopefully, their key players will not be too old or out of form by then .

I enjoyed this game ehn, especially tournaments. These guys did not even dress their players in Jersey.

We dress our players properly and even put tiles inside to make them heavier. Plus my defenders were not even counter. They were those water bottle tops stuffed with tiles. We use their height to form wall for freekick.

For the goalkeeper, we knock 3 or 4 counters together and put tile in the middle so he won't be falling and letting goals in. It got to the stage, I even got my dad to cut me a solid square block of iron in his machine shop to use as goalkeeper

on the contrary , most of their players are pretty young and were playing their first world cup. Except their captain, Kumagai who plays for Lyon, and one or two players who are old. And I'm sure their captain will still play the next world cup cus she's not that old but was the most experienced.

The commentator even said in one of their games that the retirement of a lot of their senior players that win the world cup In 2011 affected them , most of the girls were still inexperienced at that level.
Germany also has the same issue too in the last World cup. Most of their senior players too also retired at about the same period, that was why they didn't do too well too

Yes o. Ours got boots too, by cutting round, the inner material of each crown, and wore it on them.

We used cream covers as our goal keepers to cover more space in goal.

We melted candle inside our criwns to make them strong like Gattuso. Chai. grin

Yeah I forgot the boot sef.

Melting candles was our old style but it didn't make them heavy enough. You can still blast shot through them so we used those small ceramic tiles.

Big argument before each tournament as to whether you can use your hand for cutting the ball to make it change direction. Eventually we outlawed cutting in my hood.

The game is all about technology, and whoever spend the most time modifying his team will usually win. Many of my goals were from freekicks and I modify two players in my team especially for freekicks by bending out the counter so they can chip the ball. I will bend one out well well for long range freekicks and another one just slightly for shorter range freekicks

Reason why I asked because they lost at least 6 first team players on that plane and We still only managed to eke out a 2-1 victory.

Their European based players like Bwalya and Charly Musondas father were not on the flight so they still had their very best players. Other great players like Elijah Litana emerged and they had great team spirit as a result of the crash which made them arguably better.

They whitewashed Mali 4-0 in the other semifinal. This was a Mali team that has disgraced the hosts Tunisia and dumped out Egypt from the tournament.
