People put too much emphasis and almost all their faith in a degree.

University degree is just like a foundation to greater heights, nothing else.
If u don't want to push wheelbarrow, become a gas attendant or a conductor for a start then get a degree.

Wise people use their degree to secure a Job, save substantial amount then start a business and when the business is big enough to feed them and their family, they resign from their Job.
The money u get from a Job can't make u live, it can only help u survive.
Salary as a whole is like a bribe u take so u can forget ur dreams.

My advice to u is this, get ur certificate, use it to start a life but don't depend on it.
Modified
Don't depend only on ur cert in d next 10yrs, have more streams of income

but dont u think its a waste of money if someone spends five yrs in the unversity paying huge tuition fees and when he graduates he dumps the degree.it would be better such a person learnt a hand job instead of spending long yrs stressing himself and wasting money in the university.

If you study well, hard and carefully. Your bachelor's degree will be the best thing to ever happen to you.

Don't allow those who failed in school to deceive you with "School na scam" talks. It isn't. It is very important, if not, thousands of people won't be applying every year to study.

Just be focused and work very hard.

This can only come from a school drop out, someone who graduated with pass, someone who studied courses like iceblock Engineering or Nylon technology and someone who wasted his/her time in school without learning anything from his/her field of study.

Certificate get level incase you don't know.

Anyone who graduated with a good and presentable result with lots of knowledge and skills relating his/her course of study will never make this statement, because there's are certificates that will feed a whole kindred for 30+ years.

I edited my earlier post concerning the issue, u can recheck again.

Personally I feel Degree gives u ego, learning a "Hand job" is good but I'll advice anybody and everybody to get a degree even though it's useless to them.
There is this pride that comes with a degree, If someone has a handwork which pays him or her very well, the person can still get a degree later in life, u can even go to school at age of 60. To me going to uni is never a waste of time but putting all hope in that degree is a waste of sense and brain

well i wont advise someone to go in school to earn a degree that is not applicable in the modern world cheesy.at least even if u not making use of the particular degree at least the job u doing is related to the degree or the degree u earned is helping u in ur handjob.now imagine someone who read business administration doing a private biz when he has graduated ..thats something or some who read mass communication working for a newspaper or someone who read agric working in a research institute or having his own farm .but it doesnt make sense if u read engineering in school and when u graduated u now selling recharge cards online or u read microbiology and u now selling hair wigs or doing bitcoin promo.

Forget all those degree courses with big, sophisticated names. Youll either end up unemployed, underemployed, or 'over-employed' (good job, good pay maybe, but no single time for yourself or anyone. Your life is practically forfeight)

If you're killing yourself to get admission just forget it. If you're still in the early years of study just dump it. Go learn a technical or digital skill, or use those funds to start a business. You'll surely end up better off than your graduate mates. They will even be working for you.

With the present digital information age knowledge is within the reach of anyone anywhere, not restricted to university walls.

Universities are just money-making ventures for their owners. They don't care one bit about your future.

I graduated with a CGPA of 4.26, I'm a soil scientist, I graduated February 2020, my dream is bigger than what salary could offer. Even if I graduated with 5.0 I'll still advice anyone to start a business

Your dream is bigger because you didn't study your dream course. You can't tell me you applied for Soil science. Never!!

You accepted it out of desperation and ended up studying what you don't like or have passion for, that's why you aren't concerned or interested on what it could offer you.

I applied for medicine lol, my Jamb score was 198, I believe that was why I didn't get the course, my utme score was high 270, but lemme tell u, I will still prefer business to medicine even though it pays well.
Yes I was frustrated when I got the course but I came to understand how the outside world rocks thanks to this course.
Sometimes the best option is not the right option, we need a course that prepare us for the future not a course that prepare us to get a job.

Moreover soil science is a course u could easily secure a Job except u have no idea what the course entails then u can say anything about it

By Medicine, you mean Med/Surg? If Yes.

Now, imagine you studied this your dream course with happiness and focus in school and graduate with a good result just like you did in Soil Science, do you think you would have made such statement "if ur certificate still feeds u 10yrs after school, then u are a failure"?.

No! You won't. Because we both know what a good result in Med/Surg can do anywhere in the world. And please, stop saying you prefer business than being a qualified and professional medical doctor. cheesy

We know it's a lie.

its not a lie, I had passion for medicine, I really do.
But at this moment, I have passion for money lol.
As a consultant in d medical field, they pay u 700-800k monthly, same with professor, but see ehn, business fit pay u 5mila, 10mila, 100mila if u want to ball high etc in a month.

I may not be saying this if I got my dream course because that course may not open my eyes and I'll still wallow in my stupidity.

People have passion for money o, no worry when u leave school, u go understand say money comes before profession.

See ehn, If u drop Otedola/Adeleke(multi millionaires) and Ben Carson(med doctor) , wake me up from deep sleep and tell me to choose one, I'll choose Otedola. Who profession epp?
Na money be fine bobo

I accepted the course I studied in school out of desperation. Has to be the greatest mistake I made In life yet.

But I think destiny has a way of design to suit every man's fate.

I don't want to call the certificate a waste of time and scare resources. No knowledge is a waste

Did you say "When I leave school"? cheesy cheesy grin

I graduated years ago and I'm not regretting going to school. You said you HAD passion for Med/Surg, but AT THIS MOMENT, you have passion for money. Bruv, your current passion is a result of your inability to follow your initial passion. Fact!

See as you bend mouth dey talk 5milla, 10milla and 100milla a month. How many Nigerian business men do make such a month as gain?

Stop deceiving yourself with business fantasies, being a successful business man is not easy as you think. Stay woke and stop making unnecessary statements about certificates, when you've not gotten one.

we all have what makes us happy, if cert will make u achieve ur dreams, then it's cool, my dream is bigger than what certs offer and I wish to retire at early age, therefore cert won't do me any good, it's individual preference
I bend mouth deh call d mila abi? lol. Moreover I didn't say I regret going to school, I just said I won't use my cert in the next 5yrs.
I will not want to continue this debate any further.

My degree is very useful to me. The course I studied in college is a course I already had in mind since my junior secondary school and also seen people who studied that course and how their progression has been in the manufacturing industry. Let's assume I studied Accounting in school, I will strive hard to become a chartered accountant. My advice is go for disciplines that will make you multi sectoral. Why should I go and study petroleum engineering all in the name of working in the oil and sectora and limit myself to one industry.
