An overhauling of state’s IGR collection scheme

There is a need for some states to overhaul their IGR collection mechanism. Ordinarily, one would have expected a state such as Anambra to be the leading IGR state in the south east. That is not the case today as Enugu State is clearly in the lead.

https://businessday.ng/business-economy/article/how-three-regions-account-for-71-percent-of-nigerian-economy/

Poor Anambra, they make so much noise, but they are the poorest.

Dear Op

We all know you are just trying to generate insult to the north...

You're in a revenge mission via how I exposed your lies yesterday...

Kano alone is in every aspect more productive than all the eastern states...

Apart from Assembling and packaging fake products in Aba what other things does south east contribute to Nigeria?? Nothing

They're all traders scattered all over Nigeria... Benefiting from their host communities!!

The north at other hand deliver 80% of food produce in Nigeria...

Tomatoes, Beans, fruits, groundnut, soybeans, cow milk and many others...

Na we still dey give una meat...

Cows, goats, rams and jacky that some of u consume...

The north just need to invest more on human development... And watch her hit her peak

The north is too blessed...

So now I want the easterners to tell me apart from trading... Tell me what other things do you guys contribute to Nigeria?

What is it that Nigerians consume that is produced in igbo land?

stop this nonsense. everybody must not be a farmer. the north are mainly known for farming because they are not that educated like the easterners. Easterners do not like farming because they believe in education and are well educated and are majorly the doctors , professionals and outspoken people you can find for anything engagement ( including trades). even the north can not sell their produces without the help of the easterners.

more so, the north does not give to Nigeria but take take take. everything the north produces are all individual business. the tomato's etc are all sold by their respective owners and the money goes to the individuals. unlike the other part of Nigeria that contribute to Nigeria.

How do you help the north sell their products? They truck their agric products to the SE for you to help them sell it to the rest of Nigeria? grin grin

Are all your people in the North and all over Nigeria selling not individuals selling and keeping their money?

This is the most ridiculous, condescending and absurd post in this thread.

Learn the context of this thread. An Igbo man opened the thread to mock Yoruba. He asked what Yoruba contributes and he says the north feeds Nigeria with agricultural produce. And I told him we also feed the north and East.

Nobody feeds anybody because we all buy those foods. But I can also assure you that igbos in ondo state pick ogbono, offor, Okazi leaves free of charge. We don’t take a penny from them. You can come here to confirm.

You’re right about this sir, an igbo woman usually comes to my neighborhood (a new site) weekly, to pluck different kind of vegetables and leafs, she plucks up to 2 big sack bags (bigger than beans sack) whenever she comes, no one talks or raise an eye cause yorubas are liberal and accommodating, only if another ethnic group can do that in the East

Finally you are confirmed OLODO square

You have more IGR but can't take care of your needs.

While eastern states have less igr but are taking care of their problems.

And then somehow you feel better off than those who rank higher than your states in sustainability index.

Are you okay at all?

The problem is what is the number of your workforce, number of projects, the amount of your budget etc.

If you budgeted 200 naira and you received 300 and added your #10 IGR,you are bound to have some money left but less development compared to another person that budgeted 550 naira and receives 400 naira and adds his #100 IGR totalling 500 naira.

It all bores down to the fact that if the individuals are separated from their feeding bottle, the one that makes #100 IGR will have more money and development than the one making #10.

Ogun state still has more muscle than all SE states combined without FAAC.

Yes you are right ,Over there in India there must be more then 600 Ethnic groups, India is a subcontinent not a country. When i went to study i was amazed to see their diversity,Iran, North Pakistan, and India`s Northern sides (Punjab, Kashmir, Delhi, Himanchal Himalaya) are the same people, while South is entirely different. Indians people we see are mostly from south,(Now i can somehow differentiate where they are from), while Northeast have mongloid features. But you are wrong at one thing. Over there there is no clash of Tribes and casts (99%) the only issue is Muslims vs Non Muslims(Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, Sikh, Atheists). Most of the problems are coming from Muslims in India. While non Muslims have two kids max, Muslims will have 6 at least. They get free ration, Free healthcare and Free Schooling (yet dont send kids to school). Now Muslims are asking a new land for themselves. I think every African nation(Particularly Nigeria) must provide land for Muslims and and make separate for Christians (With Not a single Muslim). All tribes can live together but Muslims can not live in peace with Non Muslims.
Goke7:

guy for me there is no winner here, what do we even achieve in all this in the first place, we all pushed ourselves this far all because we refuse to acknowledge our strengths and weaknesses here and there which is all part of who we are irrespective of wherever we came from, the indians that you mentioned earlier that are in very good numbers there, do you how how many ethnic groups are in India? over 600 so if they want to be dissecting them one after the other, does it worth it and really matter, see if igbos top the list, I defer and if yourbas top, others should defer too. At the end of the day what we all want is mutual respect for one another. This idea of calling others cowards, dummies and all unprintable names to score points is not just worth it. Look at the edos you said that are doing well, don't they deserve some huge respect too?. My summary is that let's always let go when we know some folks edge it over us as we also edge it over them in other areas too. Merci

If Federal allocation cease coming to the states, it implies all the resources in Ogun state will be controlled by Ogun state government because the Federal must have hand off resources to all states. grin

Don't forget, Ogun state is the largest producer of solid mineral resources in Nigeria and the largest producer Kolanut.

My dear I do not work in BudgIT ,neither was I the one that compiled the table.

The same body that said Ogun IGR is bigger than all south eastern states ,also indicated in their ranking that Anambra state has better chance of survival in the absence of federal allocation compared to Ogun state.

That a greater number of south eastern states have higher chances of survival than many southwestern states.

And I ask again WHY?
