Agree that the military was not coordinated in that video. I agree that they will need retraining cos their tactics seem to be caught up in a time warp of the 60's.My observation from some posts is that too much war movies and video games have done some people no good. In a situation where opposing sides are almost at par, there's hardly any coordination. It has happened many times with the US army and their saving grace most times is calling for air cover. I'm not holding any brief for the military, the buck is on the table of past and present military chiefs. They are still failing these boys.

Bros, it's not a matter of playing too much video games or movies. That video was appalling. You'd mistaken them for a militia. Even the general is too sub-par to be a general. Tears rolled down my cheeks watching that video.. my daughter was like "daddy what's wrong" I just looked at her and burst out crying the more.

It's like all the weapons the Nigerian government is buying is not reaching the guys in the trenches.
And the attacks are not coordinated very well, very body is just shooting.
Some of the soldiers are also not properly protected, no helmet, ballistic vest and some don't even wear boots.

I've just watched the vid on the other side of the link below: I saw Nigerian soldiers moving over a scrubland terrain, no barren island of only large trees, no large rocks or ravines in a dry desert ‘scape. In other words, the terrain did not present the Nigeria soldiers with the opportunity to look like those CGI figures in war games, that you probably love, that run forward crouching with weapons and every now an then expertly and coolly shoot at enemy emerging suddenly from behind wall or vehicles. The environment was not like Afghanistan so the Nigerian soldiers were not faced with a forte like theater where they could crouch behind broken infrastructure, in order to look cool in dark shades, radioing command centre, while mortar rounds landed in the fore or background undecided

The way you described yourself weeping and gnashing your teeth in front of your daughter, embarrassed for Nigeria soldiering, made me fear the worst, which was why I’ve only now just plucked up the courage and watched. However, I saw nothing embarrassing or even disjointed about the soldiers fighting. They seemed to be meeting the situation in front of them, according to the demands of the terrain and the enemy. I am sure if they where fighting in an urban setting against opposition that is more formidable they, Nigerian solders, would be running in orderly crouched manner, one eye closed the other peering through their riflescope, and their helmets would be shining red beams like in the moves or war games.

am I the only person that don't think it's right for that field commander (video online) to dress up differently from his men?(Overall black) abi army done carry their caste system enter battle filed? I feel it's showmanship. He isn't with any weapon even pistol, no head gear etc (shioor!!) though he was moving abt with what I believe is a bodyguard.
He could easily be spotted and taken out by a BH sniper or the enemy can in desperation concentrate all their men and equipment to take him out even if it means all of them being killed.
Even in the Bible king Ahab had to disguise himself in battle to avoid being earmarked for death. Remember any thing that happens to that field commander can adversely affect the morale of the soldiers.

I am surprised because I have never seen a Soldier walking around even Monguno city without his riffle irrespective of his Rank.

Even our Catholic Priest here keeps his AK 47 at the alter during Holy Mass grin.

1) its either the real guys exchanging with BH are a Kilometer away and the soldiers here in this video are trying to catch up.

2) or the BH have been repelled long ago nd the soldiers in these video are trying to how some fire power.

This is in no way a real direct exchange between BH and NA grin. The way the commander is moving around is an attestation to that.

Note: For those peeps who develop a high BP when someone makes a contrary opinion grin Always remember you can force someone to have same opinion with you.

You are totally wrong.
It’s a matter of choice for the commanding officer or combat controller to use a weapon on the battle field. Now his own weapon that is most essential is the radio which you’ll use in Coordinating your attack and it’s evidently clear is holding and using it.
I don’t know if it’s another video you watch you can hear them saying; “Oya let’s go, let’s go and kill them now” and the commander calling it’s main fire power to charge in to the front, that clearly shows an attack is going on. For someone who as been in battle would attest to that.
You’re using what you see only in Moguno to draw up your conclusions, the only thing I’ll would like him to do is to wear an helmet and bulletproof vest to protect himself. His men needs him alive because of what he brings to the battle field, which is evidently clear.
A commander doesn’t needs a riffle, a personal pistol will not be a bad idea, what he needs his is working radio. And have seen countless of time, commanders with radio coordinating the assault most without a riffle and few cases with there riffles or pistols. But what you’ll always see them that is essential is the radio !

Commanding officer should never wear a uniform that makes them standout in the battlefield. It makes them an easy target for snipers.
And they should be armed always, can't believe I have to say that.

Keep your mouth shut young man. Now the excuse is the terrain? What were they trained for in jaji then? Swimming inside dirty gutter ,planting their head on stones and doing frog jumps.. now you have and excuse for them?

Watch this video below showing Nigerian soldiers in more suitable terrain and see the mediocrity you are supporting.

Some of you deserve to be given mob action for the kind of comments you spill here. And an idiot up there was shouting urban setting, rifle scope as if better countries haven't fought and won in more difficult terrains.

What’s your open shootout.......?

The work of the commander is to concentrate on coordinating every men & resource to effective use. If you have been on the battle field before especially in cases of NA where resource and equipment are scarce and old you hardly have chance to fire a single shot.
You rather see the commander or combat coordinator busy on the radio trying to synergy all resource on the ground.

This is not a open shoot out.
So as the commander you dash down and open fire ?
Where is your role in controlling you men into effective use, do you think combat is just about shooting ?
His that your take !!!!
I can see you’re speaking 100% as a civilian and video games/movies you watch.
Even in your movies you see the commander or combat controller always on the radio observing and controlling. In few occasions will you see him with is personnel weapon and most at times pistols.
