The country is just hopeless. Nothing to show off. Common maiz they can't produce. Always depending on Tanzania to feed them. Bunch of lazy hungry skeletons grin grin grin
They have what is called maize scandal. grin

They also have to import almost all the fish they eat making it very expensive unlike Nigeria that has serious aquaculture industry. Fish consumption per capita in Kenya is a ridiculous 4kg per annum.
They are too lazy and uncreative.

I agree on that railway project, That was Chinese trap and we are deep in it.
bad that our government did not listened to Russian Banks and Exim Bank India (Both refused to fund citing non-feasibility of capital return and thus the project). And China was just waiting for this opportunity, Chinese rate of Interest is too high and their terms are just meant for trapping the countries.

We should have listen to Russia and India
obaaderemi:
You took the words out of my mouth, brother. grin

The Dangote refinery and fertilizer plant would have an impact on Nigeria's economy in a big way and even impact on the whole west African subregion. Kenya has no such project. The biggest they have is an overpriced railway that keeps bleeding money. grin

This is important: THE REST OF THE FORWARD CURVE HAS NOT CRASHED. The curve is down but the contract for June delivery is still at $22/barrel and July is at $27/barrel.

The $1/barrel May price may mean that storage is fully contracted but it is not clear yet
I tell you these Kenyans are poorly educated! They even listen to someone like sufferingand smiling. grin

They just learnt here that oil transactions have different monthly contracts.

These arguments are not trivial banters. We lecture you people on everything from science to culture to economics to entertainment here. We have taken it beyond what the foolish op intended. That's why he dare not show his ignorant self here. grin

Your country should tread carefully with China. They mean to trap you and their focus is the Mombasa port. Traditionally and historically, Kenya's coast has always been part of China's wider plan to colonise your part of Africa. In the middle ages a captain called Zhang He or something docked on Kenya's coast. They had so much influence that by the time they left, they left many Chinese bastards behind and a culture of basket weaving. cheesy I guess they still remember Kenya is low hanging fruit.

Yesterday you finalize realized Ghana is bankrupt (and meaning of the word) and you're now projecting. Kenya economy is humming along. Whatever we will lose in tourism sector - we will gain from oil stimulus package. Kenya is not in any lockdown.

Sorry to disappoint you

The Ghanaian economy is running full head-on

With 5 billion dollars at our disposal to spend

This is how come we can offer our citizens huge relief packages in COVID.

For Kenya, it is BANKRUPT and Tullow is chasing your government broke ass for it 2 billion dollars else they will seize a portion of your country.

You're now projecting. Kenya has no BOP issues nor is anywhere near bailout. That is Ghana. Kenya's economy is humming along. The cargo plane are flying vegetables, fruits and flowers to Europe. Kenya tea and coffee is being exported. The economy is doing great apart from hotel industry. We didn't go into any copy-paste lockdown.

grin grin grin

you don't need to lie

Flight record says no plane has taken off from Kenya in 2 months because Europe is closed to business.

Your government has already made everyone know that your economy is broke

Without dollars input into your country, your yearly BOP issue that makes you borrow 3 billion dollars yearly has gotten worse with no one to loan you money.

A country that this Monday borrowed 1B for IMF under emergency is bankrupt.
We owe Tullow nothing. Zero.
The contention is what Tullow will deduct when and if Oil ever goes into production as their SUNKEN COST.
We didn't ask them to come and explore oil.
They are going bankrupt with the Jubilee oil field of Ghana..and we will sell the oil block to someone else.

We didn't underwrite their exploration...but once it goes to production...they will be allowed to recoup their investment..before we start taxing them.

And slowpoke the contention is how much they need to recoup...we think 1B dollars is more than enough..they want 2B dollars.

But seeing Oil is down and out.....we have to prioritize renewable energy and forget about Tullow.

India is your trading "PARTNER"?? Must be a joke, Tell me Apart from that Crude, what else you can offer to them? Cassava?? Partnership happens among equal ones (Comparing with India or China etc will not place you among them) . And Can you deny the fact that India is your biggest customer?? So if your Biggest customer in in lock down and has almost 75% less demand these days (Not to mention so many cheap purchasing options at his door) will it not effect you?? Isnt a logical question?
Now you said you can make money by selling Petrochemicals, What do you mean? Do you have standard processing capability? No you dont. and Who will buy? Definitely Not Europe (They use EU 4) and Definitely not India as they uses even more strict standard BS 6. Accept it there are so many sellers and almost no buyers at all. BTW Dangote will be worlds largest refiner? Are you dreaming? Forget about India`s and China`s refining capacity, did you even looked at Saudi Refining capacity before even posting this? Wait just 30 days and you will see massive layoffs in your every sector as funding will halt. Telling lies here will not save Nigeria. Answer Logically with facts if you can and if not then do something for your country, Kenya is facing Locust problem and will overcome. Kenya is a country of Human resource not OIl DEPENDENT.

None of our dollar inflows has gone done except tourism - and we are saving hell lots of dollars from oil. So we are doing great. In fact the economy will probably grow by 10% if oil prices are kept at negative zone. We are about to save 2-3B dollars we use to import oil and related products.

Yes a country that was issued 1B because of it creditworthiness and the fact that it was fluid with enough money at it disposal.

The reason why IMF doesn't want to give Kenya any more money is that Kenya is highly debt distressed and sending IMF false data such that IMF and WB doesn't know how they can help you in the mess your economy is in.

China is refusing to give you debt relief because, since the 5 years grace period passed, you have been unable to pay the yearly debt servicing amount.

grin grin grin grin

Cry me a river, Your country went begging Tullow to come and explore at your own cost
according to the contract.
The agreement was that, If they find oil in commercial quantity the production will pay for the exploration cost.
If they don't and they want to pack out of your country, Your government is liable to pay them the full amount of their exploration in no certain terms.

Now they've brought you a 2 billion dollars bill and your government is crying that it is too high

Time my friend is the best arbiter. The crisis your country is facing with oil at negative theory is not simply economic - but there is possibility of your gov collapsing.

You really 90-95% on oil to fund your gov operations - from local authorities to Abuja federal - and that is now GONE WITH THE WINDS

Again projection. Locust had little if any effect. They came in January - a non-planting season. We got record rains last year - and the rains haven't stopped. Locust affected I think 5 out 47 counties. Zero economic effect.

Kenya we are doing fine. Nigeria you're basically down and out.

At least Ghana still have cocoa, gold and aluminium.

If you had borrowed 1B from World Bank - you'd have a point. You borrowed from IMF. That screams we are bankrupt. The rest are details. Tullow oil will not exist next year. Many oil companies are filling bankruptcy. Nigeria as the country is also filling theirs.

Just because you are in copy-paste lockdown don't think everyone is that dumb.

Here is one anecdotal evidence that our vegetables, flowers and etc are getting flow out.

Cargo planes are still on business....and so are cargo trucks. Airlines are converting the passenger planes to ferry cargo - coz people still need to buy Kenyan vegetables...but have no use of Nigerian oil.

Airlines are fighting to land in Nairobi and offload horticultural products.

“Like all other airlines flying to Kenya, Ethiopian Airlines has a landing permit to load cargo both on passenger and cargo planes. Currently, there are many airlines which are loading cargo on passenger planes out of Kenya,” the airline's management notes.
