kikero: And the illiterates in the villages will be able to access it since your Governor claimed the App is for everybody. So the app will replace NCDC or it will convey messages to NCDC? Putting square pegs in round holes. I am sure that when the real covidd19 hit his state he will bereft of ideas 1 Like |

Agboriotejoye: No video attached to the thread. Below is the words of the governor according to the OP, which I made judgment from. According to the governor “So far, we have established about three isolation centres in the state. As God would have it, we have not recorded any issue. What we did was to develop an app that we launched and ensured that all citizens in Kogi State have access to that particular app. Answering your question concerning people being asymptomatic, the app will definetly tell you if u also qualify to test. How? Nigeria is not carrying out mass testing because of lack of test kits. The only asymptomatic people who get tested are those who had contacts with infected individuals which I believe the app shoukd be smart enough to put into consideration |

Re: COVID-19 APP: Yahaya Bello, An Embarrassment To Nigerian Youths – Ubani by Agboriotejoye(m): 8:57am On Apr 25, 2020 |
sisisioge:Get informed. There's something called contact tracing which is done to reach those who might have come in contact with a known case. Such an individual if asymptomatic will be placed under close watch and eventually take the test. How will the app solve that. For those with symptoms, how will the app differentiate between common cold and coronavirus or even malaria? You still haven't explained that part? |
Re: COVID-19 APP: Yahaya Bello, An Embarrassment To Nigerian Youths – Ubani by kayrichy: 8:59am On Apr 25, 2020 |
The APP would stil be based on complete history and physical examination just like other medical apps These apps could only give you a clue and they ain’t as reliable as you think...they are subject to many conditions depending on individual complaint...proper diagnostic test still seems more efficient and reliable.. Which is not kikero: |

drlaykay:Bro, I see Dr on your moniker. You really believe an app not approved by NCDC should replace self-isolation and calling NCDC hotline as directed by NCDC? You really believe an app can replace a doctor? I watched the interview. What he seemed to imply is that an app can tell you if you may be positive or not. With all the info out there, do you really think you need an app to tell you that esp in a low literacy and high poverty state like kogi? Will you advise Lagos with more people to replace there door-to-door testing program currently on with that app since more lagisians are educated and have access to internet? |

Agboriotejoye: Let me drop this last bit and bade you a good morning. If contact tracing were an absolute efficient reality in Nigeria or the world at large, we wouldn't be where we are today. Remember how most of the occupants of the same plane that landed vector 1 practically got lost for weeks on end? Those are people on a flight manifest o let alone the web of off record human contacts. For instance, abokiii asymptomatic yam seller came to ask your neighbour if he would buy yam. Neighbor didn't, no one did. But on his way out, he touch your gate which dear neighbour didn't touch but you did...how will they track contact there? May God help us. Keep keeping safe. 1 Like |

Re: COVID-19 APP: Yahaya Bello, An Embarrassment To Nigerian Youths – Ubani by drlaykay(m): 9:41am On Apr 25, 2020 |
Agboriotejoye:You seem not to understand me Firstly, i didn't watch the video, I'm making judgment on what the op wrote. Secondly, an App is not replacing a doctor nor doing the test. There's an algorithm you follow to know who needs testing or not. In my hospital, before you are let in, you are asked series of questions based on this algorithm, to avoid coming in and infecting people. If you are suspected, a doctor comes outside to ask u further questions and determine if u should go for testing or not. Infact, such app, if perfectly worked on will assist health workers. Things must not be first done in America or Europe before it's authenticated. And do u know a lot of people don't even know when to call the hotline, it will help to know when to call and when not to. Lastly, there's no random testing in Lagos. What we have is contact tracing. 1 Like |

drlaykay: Get me right. I never said having an app is wrong. But from all indications, the app was not approved by the NCDC. The series of questions you talked about must have been those supplied by NCDC. So an app doing the work of a doctor is not workable. I'm surprised I'm telling you this. An app can get data and submit to a server for proper processing. But for an app to determine who might be infected or not is just not workable. As you know, people may show some symptoms to a higher degree than others. It's a qualitative question not quantitative. No way an app can answer a qualitative question. Lagos state said on TV they want to do door-to-door search for ppl who may be infected. I believe their targets will be areas that have more people who have tested positive. I watched sanwo-olu say it. So except you're saying he's lying, I don't know what else to think. 1 Like |

sisisioge:All states have isolation centres but not all states have testing labs. There's a difference between the two. I'm sure you heard that until recently, Abuja was serving the whole north for testing. In fact as at then, Nigeria had only five test centres. I think it's abt 13 presently. |

Re: COVID-19 APP: Yahaya Bello, An Embarrassment To Nigerian Youths – Ubani by Agboriotejoye(m): 9:59am On Apr 25, 2020 |
sisisioge: You're talking about community transmission in that case. Contact tracing is for index cases. For example in new York where they now have large clusters of infected communities, no one is talking about contact tracing anymore. It's now containment and lockdowns. Contact tracing is when you have index case like the flight you talked about. There's a flight manifest which means all those who were on that plane are known. What is next is to establish their whereabouts and get them isolated and also trace people they might have been in contact with. I don't know how an app can replace dat either. 1 Like |

I see some comments in defence of the governor and I think it's either mischievous or downright ridiculous. An app can never take the place of physical diagnosis. The app will tell you if you are due for testing? Has the state government established any test center? How many people even have access to the so called app and can read and understand the meaning of the instructions and directions there? Are you saying there's no rural areas or settlement in Kogi and that all indigenes can read and write and have access to mobile phones that can install such app? How do you deal with a pandemic that poses existential threat to people with an app? Are you okay? I pray no outbreak in Kogi. That's what we can only pray and hope for. |

Agboriotejoye: Stop contradicting yourself. You said we've moved past that stage of contact tracking hence containment the best option now. So let them stay indoors and do a first line test with the app before going to the various centres they have for test if need be. Yes, they have testing centres and isolation centres. And yes, same way an asymptomatic person is most unlikely to go get tested is how the app is useless to him/her. I hope its clearer now...enjoy your morning. 1 Like |
