He's a very good presser. Recently his pass success rate has improved. When in position, he transitions the ball quickly from defense to attack. He shields the defense very well.

And no, Ferdinand is not an organiser. He has always been the junior partner. Slaven Bilic organised him at West Ham, Woodgate organised him at Leeds and he was struggling for organisation till Vidic organised him at Manure. Even when he went to QPR as a senior man, he couldn't organise.

Can't believe I am agreeing with you but you nailed it.In modern defending the centrebacks act as a partnership, one attacks the ball, the other tracks the runner. Both Centre backs dont do the same job. Most people will always believe the more aggressive partner is better than the calm ones who read the game better that's why it always comes down to preference and style of play we like.

The issue now is that one gets to do more than the other every time.
