Igbos in Nigeria Movement (IMN) has condoled with the family and friends of Nnamdi Kanu over the alleged demise of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Kanu’s rumoured death was the major subject on social media last week with several pictures showing the IPOB leader in a casket.

In a statement signed by its President Mazi Ifeanyi Igwe, on Monday, INM said Kanu “succumbed to a combination of spiritual factors and complications from COVID-19 in Europe sometimes this month.”

Although INM differed with Kanu’s approach towards liberation of the Igbos, regardless, it said his passing will cost the south-east the diversity of voices championing their cause.

The group, however, urged Ndigbo and all Nigerians not to desecrate his memory by impersonating him, “using body doubles and doppelgangers, issuing statements in his name and continuing to operate his social media account to create the impression that he is still alive.”

As I have always argued, no one is forcing Igbos to stay. They can actually leave physically, socio-economically and ideologically to make Nigeria understand they must let Igbos go geographically.


Imagine if Igbos sacrificed by quietly moving all their human and material resources to the SE and refusing to deal with other Nigerians for trading or even social association purposes for a week?

If you are as important as you claim then Nigeria would hastily grant you Biafra just so they can keep having access to what Igbos supply you guys insist we cannot survive without.

Put your money where you mouth is. Sacrifice your economic activities all over Nigeria for even a week, if you can get all Igbos to commit to the concept , and see if you will not have Biafra if indeed you are an all-important force Nigerians cannot afford to ignore or do without.

It has been done before to no avail. In 1967, Igbos packed up and went back to the East and declared Biafra.

It did not stop your fathers from picking up guns and running down to the East to fight for 3 years to bring Igbos back into "one Nigeria"

Now you want Igbos to do that again? The way out is referendum, which is what Kanu wants.

I remember Nnamdi Kanu once told a gathering of Biafran supporters that if Nigeria could be saved, he would have been at the forefront of trying to save it rather than trying separate it. He told the gathering that the reason Nigeria could never work was the same reason the Soviet Union did not work, it was the enforced union of incompatible people. What Nigeria means to a Yoruba man is not what it means to a Hausa/Fulani man nor what it means to an Igbo man. Thats why all 3 have been fighting each other since 1914 that Lugard brought them together.

So if you are looking for good leadership and fairness in Nigeria, its not going happen, not now or ever. You can only get good leadership and fairness if Nigeria rises above ethnic, religious and cultural biases and becomes a nation and that will not happen because we are incompatible biases

Some people may not like Kanu because of the kind language he uses or the fact that he wants Nigeria to disintegrate but the truth those people do not want accept is that Nigeria is not a nation, it will never be a nation and the only logical solution is disintegration as the only alternative is that we will be fighting each other forever until Lugard reincarnates to tell us he made a mistake bringing us together in 1914

Maybe thats when the people Lugard called "Nigerians" will finally see that Kanu was right all along
