The skillful ones like Torres, Vidic faced them when they're both on the pitch. The ones that are strong like Drogba, Vidic faced them too. Ferdinard was very good, paired excellently with Vidic. Just as you bring up Torres, don't forget to mention Ayegbeni. That Vidic was always ready to put himself on the line is enough reason to rate him slightly better. Same reason I'll prefer Carvalho to Terry in Chelsea. Let the organizer be organizing, we know those who are jumping in front of bullets

Defenders who can read the game do not need to make a thousand tackles rather they anticipate danger early..
The likes of Ferdinand, Van djik, Nesta are examples.....

LMFAO.....Ramos, Puyol are descent defenders at best with poor positioning ability that's why they are caught out of positions regularly and always lunging into tackles recklessly. Some of their defensive mishaps would have Phil Jones shaking his head. But I actually like Ramos.
As Defenders i dont consider them as good as their trophy cabinet might say.
However as players, captains and what they bring to their various teams they make up for their faults as defenders.

LMFAO.......Bro rest I watched Puyol all through his prime. His reputation is all about his winning mentality and fighting spirit not his ability as a defender. He is massively overrated and his positional sense is very poor, which forces him to lunge into tackles and do last-ditch tackles, which people self-service themselves silly over, despite it being a result of his bad positioning. He is Caragher with a little more brain.
