I have never made it but I reckon you should have used warm water. Anyway, sprinkle it with olive oil and eat it with ham or meat and some veggies and it will be tasty. It looks like it is supposed to to me. I like Ciabatta a lot, especially with meat and salad.

One thing you have to understand is some great innovations were born out "mistakes".
When you make something, it doesn't have to look or taste or be like what inspired it.
Yours look good as well, and I'm very well sure it tasted great also. Just own it!
Looking at the both pics, I'd go for yours because the other looks too dry to me.
Know that you have the ability to create new things out of old ideas.

I used warm water. I guess the problem came from over flouring while I was trying to shape...it was too fluid and wet and was just sticking anyhow.

What's ham again. I ate it like that jare. It is one of the best bread I have ever eaten. The taste was super unique with its crunchy outside and chewy inside. I love the bread but the stress no be here.
