Is ecobank in distress. I ask because it is unusual for a bank to keep having network issues for almost two months. You can't make transfers, you can't withdraw
Worse case is that most of the branches are closed the few open don't have network. Why will a bank choose to frustrate its customers unless it is in distress

Source: https://dailypost.ng/2020/05/04/breaking-buhari-govt-receives-312m-abacha-loot-from-us/

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has announced that the Nigerian government on Monday received $311,797,866 of the Abacha loot.

The money was repatriated from the United States and the Bailiwick of Jersey after a recent agreement.

Malami, in a statement by his Spokesman, Umar Gwandu, said the amount increased from over $308 million two months ago to $311 million because of the interest that accrued.

He noted that the litigation process for the return of these assets titled “Abacha III” commenced in 2014, while the diplomatic process that culminated into the signing of the Asset Return Agreement in February.

“This Agreement is based on international law and cooperation measures that sets out the procedures for the repatriation, transfer, disposition and management of the assets.

In line with the 2020 Asset Return Agreement, the fund has been transferred to a Central Bank of Nigeria Asset Recovery designated account and would be paid to the National Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) within the next fourteen days.

“The NSIA is responsible for the management and execution of the projects to which the funds will be applied,” the Minister has said.

Malami said the money will be used to fund projects including Lagos – Ibadan Expressway, Abuja – Kano Road, and the Second Niger Bridge.

To ensure transparent management of the returned assets, the Nigerian government promised to, “engage a Civil Society Organisation, who has combined expertise in substantial infrastructure projects, civil engineering, anti-corruption compliance, anti-human trafficking compliance, and procurement to provide additional monitoring and oversight.”

Covid-19 is dealing a hard blow on major businesses, I just saw a major transporter listed on the exchange using their interstate vehicles to convey staffs of various companies back home.......Left me wondering the most important rule of public corporations "When Business is good It's very good but when Business goes bad it Stinks"...

Looking at the banking charts especially GTB and ZENITH on the daily and weekly timeframe, you can observe a trading pattern that is consistent for sometime now.

I will make a prediction for next week based on what I have observed. If it pans out, then it's confirmed.

Going into next week, there will be profit taking which will lead to a new higher low (new support), before the bull will continue. I hope am wrong but we see.

Profit takers are tired of taking profit again at the tier 1 level grin. they left tier 1 and focused on tier 2 today. only U & A in the FUGAZ decided to succumb (the U is a confused fellow, it had no business succumbing grin grin).

We see how tomorrow pans out

. That is going to be a back breaking acquisition. They are barely out of the woods they are diving into acquisitions. Pay better dividends they hardly do. For most of these companies the situation is that shareholders keep working for the companies instead of the other way round. Na only management dey enjoy both dividends and stealing from cash reserves

You just spoke my mind. Infact i dont believe in any FUGAZ, we probably only have UGAZ in Nigeria. First bank is only waiting for one more crisis to go under. This bank is being managed like civil service. One yoruba adage decribes first bank better it says (Oga ta,Oga o ta, Owo alaaru a pe). In English it means wether the boss(Shareholders) sells or doesnt sell, the laborer(Management) will earn his wage.

Someone even posted on Twitter that FBN will sell at N6.50 in 2 weeks time. Where is the liquidity in Nigeria to move it? Is it the foreign investors that dont know where our forex matter is headed that will invest in FBNH? Do you know how many investors have been sucked in by FBNH who are just waiting for any marginal gain to offload? The managers of this company are not serious. Until i see 2 years of better financial performance i cant put my money here.

This company also depicts everything wrong with Nigeria, so much potential but little to show for it. Giant of Nigeria yet getting thrashed by small pikins.

So whats the current fair value of the Naira, 380 or 450? I think the CBN is determined ( though foolishly) to hold the fx rate down till Dangote start pumping fuel.
