My only concern is that the operation was so easy and successful. They didn't even try to rapel the attacks. In fact I am not even sure those guys losed any of their fighter. If it only takes a shot from Boko boys to get this amount of weapons, then we are finished. We are in a terrible situation.

Certainly If that Guntruck with AA guns and Those IFV fired Niger soilders would have been able to Gain Balance during the attack....

Military have been lying to us repeatedly, so we don't really trust their press release untill they release the pictures of large number of dead boko boys. They are no more using their usually rounded numbers like 200 or 400, it is now realistic numbers like 105 and 134 without pictures, hmmm.
Mind you, I didn't believe that Chad killed 1000 Boko boys but they really dealt with them.
Meanwhile, it doesn't mean that I am not in support of NA or my country but they should always come out with the truth to their citizens and corruption in high places within the military must stop.

Yesterday was supposed to be a free road movement on Monguno-Maiduguri road. Tho it was closed down by the Military due to some ongoing operation. The truth is that the Military needs to close down Maiduguri-Monguno road and Maiduguri-Damasak road for a month if they are going to get rid of these bastards. Normally when the Lake Chad axis becomes too hot for ISWAP they usually cross the Monguno-Maiduguri road towards Borno central. Some sources have been seeing them crossing at the wee hours of the night, i think the military should put up on drone surveillance at night on Maiduguri-Monguno and Maiduguri-Damasak roads.

Honestly part of me don’t want to believe what you’re saying. But the scene doesn’t had up, four killed, 7 military graded vehicles of deferent types and several cache of ammunition’s captured.

Mr Yusuf Gadgi, the Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Navy, on Wednesday challenged the Nigeria Navy (NN) to start building its own warships.
He said that the NN had the required competence and expertise to build its own warships without any intervention.
Gadgi said this on Wednesday after a Stakeholders’ Meeting and at the end of a three-day oversight visit to the various naval commands in Lagos.
He said that during the course of the committee members tour, they noticed that boats and ships were produced at the Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island.
“During the course of our visit, we noticed that the Nigeria Navy acquired some boats from South Africa. If South Africa can produce boats, we have our own naval dockyard to do so.
“What stops the government from investing in the naval dockyard to an extent, since it has produced some of the boats and ships we want, why can’t we increase its capacity?
“We as the giant of Africa will be able to produce boats and ships for the babies of other West African countries,” he said.
He also said that one of the issues the committee would work on would be government’s centralised opinion on the navy.
“We have a competent navy that will be able to look at the kind of ships that they want and look at the type of vessels they want.
“We should be able to empower and allow them to have free-hands to acquire those things.
“Not other agencies buying vessels and ships that cannot even stand the test of time, ” he said.
Gadgi assured the command that the committee would look into the challenges facing the navy, especially, in the areas of finance and recruitment of personnel.
“As a committee, with the challenges we have seen, we are willing to make decisions that will further promote operations of the navy considering the commitment shown by officers and the Western Naval Command,” he said.
He said that a larger stakeholders’meeting would hold in Abuja after all the members of the committee would have submitted their reports.
“We know that after going to the central and eastern commands, including the units that operate in all those areas, the largest stakeholders’ meeting will still hold in Abuja.
“There, we will be able to digest the challenges and find lasting solutions to all the challenges being faced by the maritime-related sectors, ” he said.
He said that the committee had identified intimidating challenges which if they were not looked into, they might dent the prestige of the Nigeria Navy.
He assured them that the challenges would be solved.
He, however, commended the Nigeria Navy and the Western Naval Command for their tremendous works on the maritime front.
Rear Adm. Oladele Daji, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, also commended the committee for visiting the command and identifying with some of the issues confronting the navy in general.
“The visit of the committee has been very enlightening in terms of advice and areas of intervention that will ensure that the operations of the Western Naval Command are enhanced.
“I want, on behalf of the officers, ratings and civilian staff members, of not only the Western Naval Command but all other commands in Lagos, to sincerely thank you for your energy and drive, the commitment and sincerity of purpose with which your committee performed its oversight function.
“We have been receiving delegations before now but this has been the most engaging and most productive, ” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee members’ visited the Navy Ordnance Depot, Special Boat Service and Joint Maritime Security Centre.
They also went to the Underwater Warfare School, Nigeria Reference Hospital, the newly commissioned apartments for personnel, the Stadium, the Nigeria Navy Secondary School and the Naval Air Base within the Ojo barracks.
They were also at NNS ships in BEECROFT, Naval Base BEECROFT, Naval Training Command, the Naval Dockyard Limited, Naval Doctrine and Assessment Centre, Forward Operating bases in Igbokoda and Badagry respectively.

The Nigerian Navy has suspended the resumption for training of successful candidates of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 30. The candidates were initially scheduled to commence training at the NNBTS, Onne Port-Harcourt, Rivers State on 8 May 2020. However, this resumption date is no longer feasible in view of the current national efforts at containing the spread of COVID-19.

The contract has made it clear that delivery completion will be in 2024 albeit it projected. I have said this several times over the past month.

Just like l said the contract sum total is $593 million and I substantiated it with a US government substantiated gazetted documents by a state department. I even posted the link which has now gone missing with several of my posts.

But to pre-empt the usual spurious claims that I am just saying that now. Screen shot of previous posts by me alluding to the same thing.

Training pilots and technicians, building and upgrade of airbase, ammunitions etc In reply to your fit for purpose, Each wing of the wing long 2 has 3 hard points for carrying bombs and air to surface missiles, that makes it 6 bombs or 6 air to surface missiles in total. The A29 has 5 hard points to carry various ordinance and two.50 cal internal mounted guns. On YouTube the difference that the A10 makes to the Soldiers on the ground is using its GAU-8 Avenger guns, not it's "precision bombs". General Adeniyi said not less than 15 gun trucks. In situations like this, which would you prefer overhead, a wing long2 having 6 bombs to expend or an A29 having 5bombs to expend and could go on several staffing runs?

The general actually gave two differing pieces of information first there were 8-10 gun trucks and then 15 gun trucks. Thats the detail.

They were in close proximity to Boko with small trees and shrubs typical Sahel savanna terrain.

With a clear identifiable target with open spaces that marks the demarcation between friendly forces and foes. Any aircraft can do the job with precision ordinances and or missiles as well as a strafing run.

With the situation that General Adeniyi described l would have none. Troops are too close to the enemy and a strafing run will kill friend and foe.

I gave a very recent example with the French Mirage sent to help the IS forces caught up in a ambush fire fight in Niger. In which 4 US soldiers died. French pilots did not engage could not distinguish between friend and foe.

My preference would be too buckle down wait till night fall. Switch of all our vehicles off have a zero heat signature and allow the Wing Loong II UAV that gives us 30+ hours silent endurance to identify targets with its 12 ATGM's as compared to the 5+ hours fly time over head endurance of the noisy A29.

At nightfall with temperatures drop the FLIR from the Wing Loong will see and identity the Boko gun trucks like Christmas tree lights very clearly. Ground troops to coordinate and engage Boko with small arms fire ONLY and enduce Boko to use thier gun trucks which will further increase thier heat signature and easy identification.

As you know one A29 will procure 30 Wing Loong II UAV's. But just 2 will do the job comprehensively. Then our guys can go in and mop up and the UAV over head will be able to pin point individual Boko elements for our guys to neutralise.

There is a reason why we do not use our drones often..cost of munitions.The tucanos is a balance between loiter time and cost of maintenance and munitions.
We cannot pretend to think that the war with bokoharam will end anytime soon.
Also,whenever the tucanos come in,it will be valuable for transition into the Jf17 for recruits,counter insurgency and border patrol. Drones don't have the speed to make a kinetically accurate hit with a dumb bomb,and targeting remotely with such is tasking.

I will like you to consider even postulate on the comparison of costs between USA procured precision munitions and Chinese procured munitions of the same ilk.

A MQ-9 Reaper costs $30 million it's ATGM's according to some one here $115k which l find to be within the general price range. Those will be the same or very similar to the ones used for the A29, that is the Hellfiremissile system used on multiple platforms by the US and it's allied partners.

The Chinese Wing Loong II costs $1 million and it's ATGM's I dont think more than $20k, l really dont know, but we can agree they will be way cheaper than the USA ones.

Which is more long term sustainable and with far less running costs❓

The UAV does not need speed it can hover over head silently at 15,000 feet for 30 hours with all its ISTAR capabilities as well as its 12 ATGM's.
