Kenya has roughly 10K doctors - South Africa has 40K. Kenya Pop 47 - South Africa 57M - so you see for us to get to South Africa level - we need an additional 20K doctors - so Cuba doctors are welcomed addition.

We also could do with Ghanian, Nigeria and other such doctors.

In meantime we are adding 600 doctors annually from our medical schools - not enough - but still not a bad number

We want a healthy population.

But Ghana a country with 3K doctors - is proud to have exported so many doctors abroad. IT PURE MADNESS to export doctors unless you're CUBA.

I have given official figures. There are not good - but better than Ghana. Kenya has to aim to reach the South Africa level in 10-15yrs. That means adding 2,000 more doctors annually. So we need to ramp up training to 1K annually - and we need to import 1K annually. We got 2,000 from Cuba. Not enough...but obviously we need to go from adding 600, to 800, to 1,000 to 1,300 to 2,000 to 3,000 to 5,000 annually...like normal growth looks like.

If they are Kenyan doctors abroad - we need to get them back home. ASAP.

Already Ghana has exceed the number of nurses to patient ratio according to WHO standard, our focus now is giving more chances to private uni to run medics program, we already have one and many private institution will be coming on board in the future. our Accreditation board are already working on bridging the gap. medics program is not for dumb head like you, so we might need to be careful . and we are not going to over saturate the industry like we have in nursing .
