I guess it has a thing or two to do with customs and tradition; keeping up with the family name and all that. You dont have a child, you're treated like an outcast. You have children, all female, you become an object of mockery. In aspects like this, I'll give props to the Hausa man who doesn't give a damn what his wife gives birth to insofar as it's a human being.

For the US and most countries with excellent healthcare system, the success rate for sperm sorting is 74% for girls and 82% for boys while IVF which is more costly has a 98% success rate. In Nigeria, its hard to know the rate because most people see it As playing the Almighty though i've personally witnessed a male child born through IVF.

Na Men dey determine the sex of a baby because their sperm is carrying an Xy chromosome. So na wetin them give the woman go combine with the mother's X to determine the sex of the Baby
if them give X chromosome to the woman then the baby will be a girl (XX) and if the man give a Y chromosome it will combine with the mother's X to make a boy (xy)
