So my my observations are true , in the sense that Nigerians or Africans tend to more emotional on the subject of the church, including myself....but I always try to find some logic around it so i am not fully cocooned. On the basis of what works for all, let's focus or analyze which of them matters in this pandemic. Its agreed that survival is now everyone's goal, staying alive. Well the six hours stipulated by the govt for markets to operate, people can choose a favorable time to go market to avoid over crowding. People who earn daily income, low income earners are vast majority of people you find in the market. How many poor people can shop online,or even have access to internet services. You cannot buy perishable items online. Can the poor who are vast majority buy 200naira worth of garri online? Now for the churches, leveraging on technology can helpful, like live streaming services E.t.c. I am no pastor, but are we no longer walking in the spirit, and not in flesh, then what are we saying. Or don't we believe our prayers can be heard ,except we are in church complexes? God remains the omniscience, the best scientist and technologist. Man' wisdom and ideas that led to these tools or inventions came from God almighty. For remittances such as offerings and tithes, online banking can be utilized. I know some people will miss showcasing new apparels, dress, designer shoes, cars ,handshakes, hugging, pecking ,in Church Its food to the stomach and survival my people...oooo These are my PoVs. Remain blessed .... stay safe. It will surely pass. 1 Like |

Chosen1984: And the solution would come from church? . Even the Vatican was locked down. Now ask yourself, the Asian countries that defeated the virus, how many churches do they have there? Even North Korea did not have a single case and you are talking about church. You must be living in the dark ages |

lomprico: Church gatherings act as synergy for most young believers, same way a school caters to the academic needs of a whole... We could easily ask all learned parents to homeschool their kids, or the kids learn at home by themselves through books... However, I have to concede the point that most church or religious gatherings should be more of voluntary, and not compulsory... With the breakthrough in online worship streaming, unsafe gatherings shouldn't even be up for discussion... Bishop needs to sit this one out... This argument will merely engender strife!!! |

Zooposki: If he can offer to feed his congregation through out this coro era then it's fair for him to ask government to allow church services . Some pastors are in anguish and clamouring for change because of drastically reduced revenue. After corona we can live our normal lives........ Very simple |

There's God in everywhere... God is omnipotent, omniscience and omnipresent. What will need at this time is prayer to heal the world, not church gatherings.... I wonder why bishop oyedepo will stress on church gatherings, is he trying to tell us that God doesn't answer when you pray alone. Market is very essential in this time, we need food to stay alive while will pray for God's mercies. This gesture from the federal government is not targeted to the churches/mosques alone, no schools, aviation suspended and many other sectors suspended. Nigerians go to church but they don't read Bible. |

Covid 19 has indeed brought to the fore the very structure of the Christian faith as expressed by modern day pentecostalism. It has called to question the very definition of what the church is, what faith or The Faith is and what it means to be a Christian, a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Posers: Has anyone lost his or her salvation due to the lockdown. That is, has the loss of fellowship with one another led to the loss of salvation. Answer, yes and no. Has anyone lost his or her faith, love, kindness, gentleness and all the fruits of salvation.. Has anyone lost any of the gifts of salvation due to the lockdown. Answer, yes and no. There are a lot of arguments beyond the time I have since I am at work but simply put: The Church leadership and structure has not done enough to make real 'fishers of men'. That is, Christians who are spiritually self sufficient and capable of conducting the works of God independently of the church structure. 4 Likes |

Seriously, if you were at Balogun market yesterday, you would understand the fact that the partial lockdown is meaningless. Absolutely meaningless! Left that market at 3:30pm. Got to my destination (in the same Lagos state) at exactly 8:45pm. The traffic was crazy. The only thing that made sense in my view is the use of face masks. At least, 70% of the people had face mask. If the church can enforce the use of face masks, hand sanitizers and temperature check, then the government should simply go ahead and lift the lockdown. It is absolutely meaningless keeping some industries and sectors inactive. |

Chosen1984: Fellowship with God is not defined by how much you can go to Church they are two distinct things. Seeking God through men is not seeking God but man. Indeed foolish Generation. Read 2 Corinthians 11 on the true Apostle, and then you will not be so blind. |
