Why not allow him go for SFA after 3 months of taking the medication? With this, you will know if it is working for him. Peace!

Good day house, pls is it right to start taking routine antenatal supplements like folic acid, ferrous sulphate, calcium, Bcomplex and vitamin c during the first month of pregnancy ?
If not, pls when is the right time to start, and what's the appropriate prescription or dosage for taking the above enumerated antenatal vitamins ?

A woman is ideally supposed to start taking folic acid at least 3 months before conception. Only folic acid usually suffices until the doctor recommends prenatal supplements, but she can go ahead and start taking prenatal after confirmation of pregnancy. Unfortunately for some women, due to morning sickness they can't tolerate anything else but folic acid for the first few weeks.
Most prenatals come in a single dose tablet containing all required vitamins.

The drugs were recommended by a doctor. Does it mean that they are not effective?

Hello, can someone please tell me the dangers or side-effects associated with HSG test, because somebody adviced my wife not to try it with rhetoric that it is too early for her, despite we ttc for a year plus and a gyn recommended the test.

New sperm is formed every 3months so it'd take 3 months for him to have any sperm quality improvement while on medication

Please go ahead with the HSG. The advantages outweighs whatever dangers he 'thinks' it poses.

My point is that he needs to be on these drugs for 3 months, before you can know if it is effective for him or not.

Also, some people have used these drugs and it worked for them, while it didnt work for others.

The only sure way to know is to allow him use it for 3 months, then let him run another SFA, and then check if the motility and other parameters have improved.

BTW, when did he start using the med? When was his last SFA test?

He started using it a month ago. He did SFA in April.

Please do not listen to such fellow who thinks it's still early for your wife to do HSG. Ignorance has killed our people and this is the reason a couple will stay 10+years being clueless about their fertility.

HSG is a good investigation to check the patency of the fallopian tubes. It is listed amongst many other investigation to check why a woman who is sexually active is not conceiving. Go ahead pls since it's recommended by a Gynae.

Please one more thing, do not go about discussing your plans with people especially with regards to fertility even family members need not be aware. All they can help do is to continue to put you guys in prayers.

Most of us here are not doctors but experience and personal research has turned some people here to fertility specialists grin. This journey is arduous and will end in praise.

Baby dust to us all

Ok! So allow him take it for 2 more months. Then repeat SFA and check if the motility, count and other parameters has improved. That will enable you to know of the medicine worked for him. Take care.

No danger once it’s confirmed there’s no active infection. Except you’re talking about the X-ray issue. But then it’s always better to confirm the tubes are okay than trying blindly

Good day mamas, I applaud the good works of everyone going out of their way to help others. Thank you for lifting others. I pray God answers all our prayers soonest. Please kindly assist
1. my af was few days late and contained (sorry tmi) ewcm and slippery clots and I had cramps throughout. It's a change from my normal flow and has me worried. Before af came, I was having pregnancy symptoms and very serious backache only for all symptoms to cease completely one day and af came next day. Can anyone shed light on this.

Thanks.
