That's where the official agitation will start. Our governors, senators and representative need to make this demand through the executive(Mr President) while carrying the law makers, the people and media along.

How long will we wait for FG to generate and transmit power? We can build this through contribution. We have done this in the east and it worked.

This National Grid nonsense is counter productive.

We have to take bold steps.

I quite agree with you that the bolded is nonsense and counter-productive, but it ain't gonna change anytime soon.....certainly not with us just blowing grammar!

The unified and centrally controlled economy in this so called 'federal republic' is benefitting some people who want to control everything so they can divert and corner a large chunk of benefits to their states, regions, politicians and businessmen, and it's these people that will work (both overtly and covertly) against any moves to decentralise the Nigerian political-economy so every region can answer their papa name and develop at their own pace!

Bring any smartass/i-too-sabi bill to the national assembly....they're waiting for you! wink

Don't go there....

Abakiliki is coming up well but comparing it with Owerri is comical ...

Three five star hotels in Owerri alone ...

Owerri has a bigger economy and better buildings than Abakaliki, but that's to be expected as Abakaliki is a relatively new state capital! However, i believe Ebonyi in general and Abakaliki in particular has a better quality of road network than Imo and Owerri respectively! Also, i believe Ebonyi in the past 5 years has progressed at a faster rate than Imo mainly due to leadership. However, Imo (for now) still has a bigger economy than Ebonyi!

The camera is very dull

I think it's stills taken from a video.

A state that wants to market itself well should ensure high-quality pics of its projects are put out on the net. Anambra and Enugu (to a lesser extent) seem to be getting this right in the south-east.

You really have a long way to go. Maybe you are one one of his jobless TAs from Abakaliki that feels that Ebonyi state is just Presco junction, Spera in deo and Udensi roundabout. No need to argue with a timid and naive Abakaliki man that is carried away by disco lights.

Remind your principal that Afikpo South, Afikpo north, Ivo, Ohozara LGAs and many more do not have electricity since 2015. #restoreafikpolight

To us Ebonyi may not be USA cos its one of the newest states created in Nigeria but she is doing so well to even be compared to state that have started up to 30yrs. Don't you have shame? You want a new state to be compared to London over night. Ebonyi is developing and developing very fast. Eboyians are becoming more educated, they are doing better in businesses. Yes, some still huck on the street of major cities but that number has drastically reduce... you can't tell me about me state. I graduated from UNN with good grades. In my department alone I can't count the number of Ebonyians that are there and we are in every institutions in Nigeria today doing very well academically... we are moving and improving, our rural areas are developing. you talked about my local government, Ohaozara. How dare you said we don't have light? Who the bleeb are you to say such? we have lights and the road is SUPER TIED, same to Afikpo, cos, it's close to Ohaozara LGA. like I said, we may not yet be compared to IMO, ANAMBRA or ENUGU cos they all senior Ebonyi in existence with morethan 30 or 40yrs. But we are far more better than most SW states and northern states. and if you don't like the beautiful growth being experience in Ebonyi today pls and pls, leave there for us. We don't need distractions in this our early stage now. We love our state with our heart... I believe by now you should have known that

This goes to show that a pig remains a pig no matter how you try to brush it up. I am ashamed at the low IQ my fellow super lion is displaying here. If after passing through UNN and you still have this mentality of seeing disco lights as development, then your timidity is 'follow come'.

You can't talk about development without education, health, water, electricity and human capital development. The disco lights you are celebrating will stop working soon.

His predecessors balanced their projects. They established EBSU, gave foreign scholarships and did well in health, water, roads, rural development and human capital development.

Once more, remind your master that while installing disco lights at Presco junction, Spera in Deo and Udensi roundabout, Afikpo north, Afikpo south, Ivo and your Ohozara LGAs have not had electricity since 2015. #restoreafikpolight

It is a white elephant project.

Entrepreneurs create jobs not students.

Igbo businesses will not move. The town does not have the population to support buying and selling businesses.

Skilled labor generated is meaningless without industries to work in. But without industries , what skilled labor will the vocational schools be teaching?

You cannot teach for non existent industries.

Umahi is a failure. Just like all past and current sitting state governors. No difference.

My brother I get your concerns. But as you know Rome was not built in a day. This is the first time Ebonyi state is having a governor that has really worked since its creation in 1996.

No governor in the whole of Nigeria since democracy has accomplished half of what Umahi has accomplished with his state's minimal allocation from the FG.

You need to see the face of ebonyi. There are quality roads everywhere. Ultra modern road networks and fly overs. Meanwhile onye ikpeazụ is struggling to build one for 5 years in Abia state.

Ebonyi are building an airport. Wow. If we see good make we talk am o. I know Umahi has his flaws, but he's the best thing in Igboland since Peter Obi and Sullivan Chime.

Umahi is an Engineer. Let him fix the infrastructure like he has done. The next governor should probably be an economist or sociologist. Ebonyi will get there.

I never imagined in my life that I will in my life time see an Ebonyi state like this.

Once again, I get your point, but let's be patient we are on the right track. My prayer is for Abia state to have its revolutionist.

Ala Igbo ga adị mma.

Engineer Dave, you have passion for development and infrastructure.

I am pleading on behalf of manufacturers and upcoming industrialist in igbo land for an Eastern power generation and transmission.

We need power in the East His Excellency. We need to exit this National Grid Nonsense where they allocate less than 15% power to the east.
Champion this project and execute it through Nestoil company/subsidiaries and Seplat.

Do this and stand long Mike okpara and Sam Mbakwe in Igbo land.

You have noticed the Nepotism bah ?

In Kaduna and Abuja, especially Kaduna, power never fails. But in the South East, if you get 4hrs power, thank God for that day.

It has been so before 2015.

Louder! Afikpo that ought to be the second city in the state has no electricity. The staff of the federal polytechnic there have all ran away to Abakaliki, the small city.

He should develop other sectors and cities too. Wasting money on flyovers where 200 vehicles don't pass in a day. Misplaced priority.

Restore Afikpo light and focus more on human capital development and health. Afikpo has been in darkness since 2015.

Previous governments in the state did not concentrate on fixing disco lights at Presco junction, Spera in Deo and Udensi roundabout. They built EBSU, roads, opened up rural communities, worked on health, water, human capital development, education, rural electrification and awarded foreign scholarships.

You can't tell me that cosmetic fixing of disco lights and painting of existing roads are what a state that is lagging behind should be celebrating. Here is the Abakaliki mall with the ecumenical center in the same location.

Kudos to Gov. Dave Umahi for his excellent high-quality projects! But apart from single building projects, Abakaliki needs a vast residential housing estate in the same quality as the Enugu Centenary Golf Estates. once the area is mapped out and planned, private entrepreneurs will buy land and develop the area based on laid down rules.

In a few years, we want to drive through an Abakaliki new GRA or a sort of independence layout filled with modern beautiful buildings and a well laid out road network.

Governor Dave Umahi is transforming Abakaliki gradually. What worries me is that every Ebonyi governor makes no effort to launch a massive housing scheme to develop a modern Abakaliki in a new location along the Enugu expressway or behind the Ochiudo city area / vast lands behind the army barracks.

Hopefully, he will map out one massive residential layout out which includes areas from low and high-density housing. Let private individuals buy land in the new layout with a mandate to begin construction within 6-8 months. If Abakaliki can have a place like that where a new city will gradually emerge, it will have been assured of it's place as one of the greatest cities in Africa in the next few years.

Always be civil and polite while making your points. Everybody must not share your view or believe in your submissions.

Education and human capital development remain the best and fastest ways of developing a place and not building flyovers, that are not needed and decorating the streets which are not sustainable. In few years, only the delapidating flyovers will be seen as the legacy of this current administration. Soon the disco lights will stop working and the future governments might not be willing to be changing the bulbs.

The investors are not coming because of your disco lights. If so, they would go to VI and not Ebonyi. They are coming to make money from your natural resources which you have failed to empower your people to manage. Anambra has 'colonized' Abakaliki and with this your mentality, it will take a longer time for Ebonyi to be liberated.

If you educate your people and develop them, you will be amazed how they will transform your place. It is not just about infrastructures but the people. For instance, take Ebonyi people to US and bring just ten Americans to Ebonyi. In few years, Ebonyi will be turned around while the US you moved Ebonyi people will turn to a ghetto.

Invest in rural electrification too to discourage rural urban migration. This will help in springing up small scale agro allied industries which will create more jobs for your people. The rural electrification will also help the artisans. #restoreafikpolight

Hey bro, I get your facts, and you are right about the cosmetic development offered by Dave. However, the picture you are painting here is not as bad as you think. Afikpo may not have HD light, doesn't really some other communities don't. On the educational standards of the state, I can tell you the difference is clear to what WS obtainable few years ago, although Dave regrettably isn't doing well when it comes to that. But ebonyi indigenes are taking education as serious as anything. Almost every family are targetting to have one or two graduates out from sch.

Then on the Anambra colonization of Abakaliki, lol, brother you are still living in the 90s. Yes! I agree, most of the houses and businesses in Abakaliki were owned by them, but not anymore. The new crop of houses you see around, ain't really in the Anambra hands bro. And this colonial mentality bro, I'll advise you to relegate that thought.

I am impressed and appreciative of how civil you made your response. That's the way to go. Having different opinions does not warrant insults.

Dave is really trying in road reconstruction. I only want him to focus on other vital sectors as well. Previous administrations gave foreign scholarships. The beneficiaries are doing very well and have been liberated from poverty together with there families. I am not sure if the current administration is sustaining it.

The indigenes that own structures in Abakaliki are mainly politicians and you should know that politics is not an occupation. Those investments are not sustainable. Few years after leaving offices, they will start selling them.

Roads get bad few years after construction but investment in education and human capital last for ages and has a multiplier effect. Rural development and electrification are also key in encouraging micro agro allied industries and artisanship. Having only Abakaliki as a city in the whole state is not encouraging. For instance, in Abia, outside the state capital, there is Aba. In Anambra, there are Onitsha and Nnewi outside Awka. In Enugu, there is Nsukka. People in other cities have little or nothing to do with the state capital because they have the same amenities as those in the capital cities.

However, in Ebonyi, it is only Abakaliki. Ordinary councillors are all relocating to Abakaliki because life is unbearable elsewhere except Abakaliki. Afikpo that suppose to be the second city in the state has not had electricity since 2015 and the town is now becoming like a ghost town. People are leaving in their numbers to Abakaliki. It is not only Afikpo town that does not have electricity. I mean Afikpo north, Afikpo south, Ivo, Ohozara LGAs and many more. #restoreafikpolight

Indeed, Abakaliki shouldn't be the only major town in the state, however you should note that the state has designated the Afikpo, Ohaozara and Ivo, if I'm right about the later as revenue generating towns. And these towns perhaps, don't have light might be cause of the fact that Dave and TCN are aiming to develop another power plant to serve these areas, other than the one at the capital. I hope this issue would be swiftly resolved.

Then on the ownership of properties,no doubt the politicians are mainly the rich around with properties, but I can tell the nouveau rich are gradually coming up. The changes are obvious, despite the fact that lots of the youths aren't as rich as compared to their counterparts in other states.

Truth be told, the educational standard of the schools are poor. I have to fault Dave here seriously, but that doesn't mean parents are not putting effort to send their kids to sch, at least the privates are filling the loophole left by the government. Also, I'm pretty sure you have seen the vocational sch opened by the state government. They are serious there, seen them assembling 'electrical keke', coz I wouldn't call that production. Though is not a cause for rejoicing nor a huge achievement to massage our ego. But the vocational school, would uplift and encourage the human capacity development you have said here, at least in its own little way.

Then you also have to align your thoughts, with what the lady has been saying in question. No sane investors would dare to invest, in a state without government providing major necessities. It ain't rocket science. I believe Dave maybe a failure in some stuffs, but in these so called 'cosmetic development', I'll give it up for him, as far as the end goal brings in investors.

P.S: Don't be impressed about my civility, is a normal thing out there amongst Ebonyians. That your previous chit chat fella, was uncivil doesn't mean we all are. I pray you, don't judge her. No sane human being, wouldn't wanna fight for his/her turf, when he/she has been always antagonized by others.
