Good afternoon! Please am new on NSE. Although I downloaded trove 2 weeks ago, but I don't know if I should continue with it. Please EXPERT here, help me shed more light on the app. And am having issues on how to set the duration on the application. God bless you

Trove is good, if you don't have up to 50k to open a Stockbroking account.

Trove also give you access to foreign stock.

But ......

1. Trove is not a Stockbroker, they work with other brokers(ARM).

2. With Trove you don't have a dedicated CSCS number, the broker (ARM) handle the CSCS.

3. Dividends will not be paid directly to you, it will go to the brokers account and the broker will share the dividends to everyone.

4. Your name is not on any company registrars .If you buy UBA stock on Trove, it is the brokers name that will be on the UBA registrars (Afriprud)

If you have 50K, I will advise you get a proper broker with your CSCS number.

In calculus or mathematics generally the best approach to solving complicated mathematical issue is to use the first principle. It's normally longer but gives a better navigation to the solution. I will advice you first open a stockbroking account with a regular operator and trade on their platform before going to apps. Mind you I'm not discrediting any app. As a newbie learn and understand before getting into a more complicated stuff. I am sure if you have been trading on any of this regular platforms the app will even enhance your skill. Right now the app is like a more sophisticated tool in the hand of a novice the tool will be under utilized.

What you wrote here is different from my experience with another app CHAKA..all the companies that paid me dividend, from Gilead to Altria, and recently AT&T,Verizon too,all of them paid my dividend straight to my wallet, then i exchanged them on the platform, then withdrew to my bank account. This is for US stocks
Then for local stocks, i dont buy there,i use Meritrade and ARM..but people buy Nigerian stocks, cscs and chn numbers are sent to them.. they now DOWNLOAD E DIVIDEND MANDATE from relevant registrars, fill and sign, stamped by their bankers and sent to registrars OR submit at their bank. Many have gotten their dividends this way. May be Trove is different.

Who owns the Stocks?
Are this assets even held in my name?

Written by Tomi
Updated over a week ago

You own the stocks through your account with Trove and DriveWealth.

DriveWealth manages the books and records and stocks are held in custody by ICBC Financial Services, New York.

Nigerian Securities are held in custody by ARM Securities or in your name depending on what you opt for during your on boarding process.

Why should my stocks be in the custody of ARM Securities, I need my CSCS and CHN, I should be able to monitor my stocks through CSCS online

I took my time to post tree different links to this same news so that no one will come here tomorrow to tell us that they were not adequately informed that was why they miss the opportunity. That was how some people miss the opportunity during ccnn and bua merger.

I will increase my holding today so that UACN will constitute the 99% of my portfolio from the current 96%.

Ideally, dividends should be paid into your bank account, not your wallet.

Your CSCS is specific to your broker but CHN can be the same. When opening the other stockbroking accounts, ensure to specify to your new brokers to use the same CHN number you already have if not another one will be created for you.

You are doing too much to market this UACN or is there more to it? Maybe you should break down the profit you envisage in monetary terms not just share exchange. grin

Apart from UPDC REIT which is on a good footing. I dont see any other solid company in that group for now. UACN is struggling for market share for example portland paint marketers have been calling me for a week now but i have opt for local paint producers in view of this COVID disruption, while UPDC is a loss making entity heavily invested in a saturated market.

NB: I have a friend in the mangement team of UPDC.

Chaka provides everything that Trove doesn't offer, CSCS and CHN inclusive, but my take is that anyone that wants to trade global stocks should look in the direction of Chaka(or Trove) but should stick to the regular stockbrokers for local stocks.
