Hello Omorwumi....

Its not a Must, though some sch. Requires it, but most sch. don't require IELTS exam from an English Speaking Country like Nigeria, Ghana...

ITS ONLY WHEN U ARE APPLYING FOR THE likes of Permanent Residency (EXPRESS ENTRY, PNP) u will be required to do an IELTS EXAM

U can just get an English Test Waiver/Exemption letter from the skool u graduated from I.e LETTER OF CONFIRMATION OF PROFICIENCY IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

My one coin is: request for GCMS notes for your application(am glad you have done that already to understand reasons behind your denials).

Reapply and pay your full tuition for the first academic year and have sufficient funds for your living expenses maybe this time you might consider getting a domiciliary account and put your 10,000 worth of Canadian dollars there and have like 2million or more in your personal statement of account for your travels and other things, you know they appreciate it more if it is from direct sponsor that is what I feel though(open for correction) once is relative or uncle or frnd, I'll advise you to tell the person to pay the full tuition for your program and transfer other funds to you! Because they feel like the person will take his funds back once you are approved.
So it's always advisable to encourage your sponsor especially when the sponsor is uncle or
aunt or others to pay full tuition for that year not even first semester but first semester can work but full tuition is stronger in my own opinion, and carefully get a letter of sponsorship from him or her stating why he or she is funding your studies while you work on your SOP or LOE. (That is if you wish to maintain him or her as sponsor o, otherwise use your hubby as co-sponsor)
Let it be somewhat of self sponsor on your second application and while your husband stands as your co-sponsor, your relative can be paying small small money to your husband account Atleast balance of 3m in your husband account can do, he might choose to pay in one million Naira into your account for your flight or transportation, at least his own support while you can have the minimum of 2m in your personal account and show proof of the money hus transferred to you even if he has 2m left after making the transaction, no problem. They don't care if your account runs in billions you just need to be real and show a great sign or interest that your really want to attain that qualification though.

Pls back it up with prayers..

All the Best!.

Thank you so much for this. Will do as you said. I was just worried about paying tuition because I didn’t want to start dragging Oyibo for refund. But I checked the school website and tuition is fully refundable. I will make arrangements to make the school fees payment.

Once I get my GCMS notes. Though the website said they are having more than usual requests so it may even take longer than the normal 1 month.

Hello all,

Please I plead for responses.

Someone I was discussing with put an interest of studying in Canada to me recently. He told me some which I need to sort clarification from you guys.

He said I should look at getting a professor from a University in my field and that I should work on a very good and convincing thesis and they could sponsor me from their huge grants they get for research.

I don't have any sponsor or anybody with a large bank account like that so I've only been looking for fully funded scholarships online.

Please I want to know if it's possible to study in Canada this way? Funding my thesis seems feasible to me but what about accommodation, feeding, tuition fees and others?

I plead for responses from everyone with experience so that I don't get my hopes high.
Yea it’s possible to find a supervisor willing to sponsor you and the funding would cover a substantial part of tuition and living expenses. All that would be left is flight itineraries.
If you finished with a good grade, have research publications, your interest is similar to that of a professor, then you are good to go.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by NwanyiOkpa(f): 10:15am On May 13, 2020
Luckymama:
Reasons for refusal were the same generic reasons:
1. Not convinced I will leave Canada based on current employment status.
2. Not convinced I have enough funds.

Sponsor (close relative with same surname) is a business man. He has transferred the entire tuition and upkeep for the 1st year into my account since January. Supported with his business account with very healthy inflow and outflow of over 50m each month, and his personal account with over 40m balance. So I don’t know what other funds are required.

So sad.

Hello @Everr

The first challenege for u to overcome is u getting a Supervisor

So u gotta mail Supervisors of different universities in CANADA first... Then if dey accept to supervise u, U can now come to the forum and state that So so Prof./Dr. Of so so University has agreed to supervise me ..(Don't give up when u get a Mail from a Supervisor that he can't supervise u or not accepting student for supervision, Try and look for other supervisors)

Then someone in the forum (who might have experience of sure bank universities with easy admission) would now be able to give u suggestions and ideas .

Note: Its after a Supervisor has accepted to supervise u that's when u will now process the admission and pay the Application fee..

Make sure any sch. U decide to choose is a Designated Learning Institute (DLI) and also eligible for PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit)

No your spouse and kids don't have to undergo a medical examination if they aren't accompanying you to Canada in this present application. When it's time for you to file for an open work permit for your spouse and visitors for the kids, your husband in particular will be required to undergo a medical exam prior to a visa issuance.

Hello Mr Frankrobbn1 and other gurus in the house.Forgive me if you're not mentioned.
I'm currently going gaga.

I applied first in Jan and got denied in Feb. Refusal Details being: "current employment situation and family ties in home country and in Canada"

Here's my profile:
I'm 23(24 by October) No tertiary education yet, i have an 8 year gap from end of secondary schl up till 2020.
I've been working since 2016 as an ict staff at an energy company, learning software dev. And volunteering at a local book club
SOA= 11,200usd + 13M =about 62KCaD or so, sponsor is mum, 2yr fees + living expenses= about 40KCAD and is way less than the total of what i presented so money shouldn't be an issue.
I gained adms at NBCC for a 2yr diploma in network administration for Fall 2020,
I had my sponsor write a letter too including my SOP , waec, family properties including a land Doc in my name, mum's last designation and salary increase.

I reapplied on 4th of march with all info above and added
Proof of family ties which include: Dad and mum's employment proof, my birth certificate and that of entire family, each member of family's local govt of origin cert
I also added proof of employment which include : Employment letter, confirmation letter, ID, Leave approval for duration of study from my employer and also indicated that i hv been denied bfr above.

Today i got denied for the second time and I'm sad and demoralised.

Reasons being:
travel history
Family ties in canada and home country
Current employment situation
Personal assests and status
Purpose of visit

Man y'all help me please
And also how do i get the gcsms notes

I regret to hear your study visa was rejected. Please put yourself together as this is just a stepping stone to your next Visa approval.

I have taken my time to carefully scrutinised your profile and the list of supporting documents you had submitted in the last application. I can deduce that there is no logical progressive step between your academic plan and career background. What have you been up and doing for the past 8 years? Have you attained any professional certifications in your field even though you don't have a degree yet?, why do you think that when granted the privilege to study in Canada, you will perform well in classroom assignments and projects? Given that you've vast study gaps. These are crucial points that needs to be properly explained to the visa officer's comprehension in your next visa SOP.

In light of this, I would advise that you apply for an undergraduate program preferably a bachelor's degree in an IT related discipline.

While preparing for a subsequent re-application, I would suggest that you should apply for an admission at University of Regina or University of Saskatchewan. This would increase your chances of approval.

Finally, always seek counsel from knowledgeable folks on this thread. Cheer up, I see you getting your visa the next time.

It will end in praise.

Thanks for responding.. What should be the title of my letter to the VO? LOE or SOP. Pls what's the difference between the 2?

Don't worry about visitor visa refusal. You are applying for something else. Don't even mention it.
They will ask you on the form tho, all you need to write there is this.

One rejection in Canada on Date.

Yes madam, the principal applicant (you) is allowed to submit a police character certificate at this present time. Although, it's an optional document for study visa applicants.

Please gurus, answer this one

Pee2Jay9:
Team, pls what's the maximum amount of money above which you'll have to explain to in the VO. Salary will definitely have payslips, how about side businesses cos I have those. And should I include the agreement documents as well?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Tstunt: 11:05am On May 13, 2020
Hian! Wahala dey o.

Austacus:

Hi,

It was formerly known as CAIPS FILE.
CAIPS FILE/GCMS NOTE are the same thing, it is used for application made outside Canada like Canada visa offices or consulate whilst FOSS is used for applications that are made from within Canada. So if you're already in Canada, you don't need Caips/GCMS, you'd rather apply for FOSS.

If you apply for GCMS notes and you declare your siblings in your application, FOSS report would be carried out on them and might be added to your GCMS notes.

If your sibling came to Canada to study and divert to refugees for quick PR/citizenship, or have a criminal record in Canada, it's not advisable to declare them in your application.

You must explain every lump sum deposits that occurred in your account statement. Lump sum are funds deposited in an account without any previous financial history. It's a serious offence and may lead to visa refusal if you don't provide valid or verifiable explanation to the Visa officer as to the source of the money.

Note all statements/clarifications as regards lump sum payment in your account must be backed up with adequate proof. This can come from sales of products or property, and business transactions.

Hi,
I also think the purpose of visit clause is also a significant one. Based on my understanding they usually give this reason when they feel your reason for the masters does not make sense e.g the masters does not align with work experience or undergrad course. So it’s also good to check the SOP to make sure that the story flows and makes sense.

Please I suggest you take off your brothers details from the letter of rejection. It’s not safe to have your details on public forums like this
