Not common. Almost impossible by my own understanding.
However, if qualification date falls on public holiday by error of commission or omission, grin the following trading day would be the markdown.
In actual fact, public holiday makes no difference here because no trading will take place on public holiday. So it's still same thing. Just like weekends.
In another thought, if qualification date falls on public holiday, the coy would be notified and an amendment may be done to the date.

Thanks, it's likely that 25th and 26th May, are gonna be public holidays for Sallah, the qualification date for DANGcem is 25th May, So impliedly, markdown will be extended to Wednesday.

I have been looking at the market in the last 3 trading days. It has been difficult to pick my targets. Dangote Cement at N130, MTN at N108, Africa Prudential at N3.50, Ucap at N2.25, and Zenith below N14

shift your goal post ma'am ... Oh! Sir grin

No idea sir.
This is where we'll miss OGG the more. He's always having these kind of privileged info.
I wonder what anyone will gain by attacking him.
Even if he's helping himself, he's still helping Nsempas the more. He's such an invaluable member here.

I really wonder why somebody who has a portfolio here should attack such helful fellow

UPDATE ON STOCKS TO BE AVOIDED BY NEWBIES

Please I still look forward to our contributions on the above. We want to list "COVID STOCK". These are equities that will deliver pain to buyers in the long to medium term. I have stated my own conditions which I refer to as test kits.

Let us contribute to this, we do not want people to buy stocks like Skye bank, probably after buying on Wednesday, only for you to hear on Saturday that FGN has liquidated the bank and unfortunately you have nobody to come to your rescue. However a list like this can be a preventive measure to help our fellow investors from falling into some of the traps in the market.

To be frank, there are bad equities that I know, but due to some connections I have, it will be technically inappropriate for me to mention in a public forum like this (no wonder the likes of "Stocklook", let us just assume that is the name, I am taking clue from advise I received from onegentleguy sometimes in the past of those days, have nobody watching them again" as the advertisers know what to do if they are mentioned in this type of list).

Please below is still the current list (I am not the originator of the list ooo, the list was just compiled by me after verifying most of the list using reports on NSE website), before you rely on the list you can equally do your own additional due diligence). But what I see is that some of the lists are already confessing on their own. I saw one hitting a new low and another giving update on a foreign popular news website).

Caveat Emptor

Can I DM you please?

Banks suppose don begin move.

If you noticed, they are all reading within a narrow band. They seem to be gathering energy.

Today there seem to be unwillingness to sell sef. This could be seen in the volumes transacted.

May and June should see a rise, IMO.

Lol. The remote is still with the ogas on top, they're controlling it from under the mango tree.
We will need to hear what they are planning from the Oracle ma.....we just hope they'll release it. grin

Just hold tight.

I don't see any major selloff.

Definitely there will be frustrating trades( up today and down tomorrow ) so that people will be tired and sell off. It happens.

The reason is because the price candles are still in the cloud with exception of FCMB.

See the screenshot of the chart sent earlier. There I explained the possible path the stock price could take.

If it had taken the bolder arrow path, it will be short and quick to eject from the cloud.

But it is taking the longer path: a horizonal travel which will be followed by quick vertical rise.

Attached is the current chart of GTB showing the horizontal travel first.

I am expecting some vertical movement starting maybe tomorrow or Friday.

This is why i am a believer of emmanuelewumi's Long-term investment school of thought, i dont bother tracking things daily anymore. There is an adrenaline that comes when you are online, you will be tempted to buy or sell something. This was how i sold 100k unit of Zenith that i bought at N11 for N13. I still cant forgive myself till now. Bless your soul Rabbidoracle, you are good at what you do.

Please house,
What's your opinion on mobile banks like opay, vfd microfinance and kudda bank.
They are licensed by cbn but is it safe to leave a large sum of money with them?
Their interest rates on savings account are reasonable.

I understand the feeling but you don't need to be too hard on yourself. Zenith is still a good buy at N15 if you really need to buy it back. I also bought Zenith and GTB at the March low prices, and I already disabled the sell buttons for these two giants.

This is what I call careless JIJO.

I avoid JIJO with any stock in the following categories :-
1. Pays good dividends.
2. Doesn't reverse to previous low price.

JIJO is good on Stocks with high Volatility

Hello ooooo, this is not correct

Except am not understanding the meaning. please help me explain the narrative below. thanks

SMEs (small enterprise- turnover of less than NGN25 million annually, medium enterprise- turnover between NGN25 million and NGN100 million annually) constitute the bulk of businesses operating in Nigeria. The Bill proposes a number of incentives to encourage growth of SMEs in Nigeria, as follows:

Profits made by small scale businesses are to be exempted from tax. Furthermore, dividends received from small companies in the manufacturing sector are exempt from tax.

The same cash is king cliché that made so many miss Zenith, GTB, UBA, Nestle, DANGCEM, MTN etc when they bottomed out in March. Well, I'm also waiting for Zenith at N5 and GTB at N7 or even 20kobo( grin ). However, note that before this scenario plays out, some of us would have increased our cash reserves and join the #CashIsKing geng later in the year. cool
