Manwarrior55: They are a one stop bank. There is a high likelihood that the first person u meet at the customer service understands your investments request or enquiry without tossing you around. On negotiation of bids, they are also at the fore front 1 Like |

unite4real: Please educate me on how you calculated the difference of 5.1M to be paid following the low yield and time to maturity. This is for a 55M 12.75% bond maturing in April 2023 having a yield of 8.44%, Many thanks |

unite4real: Thanks a million, you've done well for breaking this math for me. How do you come about the 5m premium fee on the 50m investment? And do you think this (fbnquest) rate makes sense, or is there a chance to get a better rate with stanbic? Also, is it possible to get less than 3yrs tenure from stanbic? It's my first time with fgn bond, merci 2 Likes |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 9:14pm On May 14, 2020 |
Akin3891: Sorry my calculation is wrong, you should get something higher. Bond is a bit tricky, your stockbroker will give you the exact figure |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by unite4real: 9:29pm On May 14, 2020 |
Akin3891: emmanuelewumi is right about bond price being a tricky thing. It's kind of complex. What u got from me is kind of approximate but at the close of your deal during settlement, u get to see the exact figure. The 5m I mentioned is not a fee and it won't be treated as a separate entity. What happens is that you are buying a bond for 50M..the yield has dropped so the seller makes more money at your expense so you pay more for it. If the yield was higher than 12.75%, say like 15%, you will be paying like 47M for the 50M bond. In this case, your coupon payment will be calculated on 50M, your principal at maturity will be 50M as well. The yield, time to mature, number of coupons left drive the price up and down. You hear stuffs like clean and dirty prices. You can get any advertised bond with Stanbic IBTC. With 50M you can deal in the primary market, although most are presently reissued bonds. Only with a new bond you can get it as advertised. I have always seem Stanbic to better fbn in bids. Lots of our members on this thread can testify to this but if u have ur money in fbn, just go ahead difference cannot be too significant. I hope I didn't leave any questions out. 5 Likes |

emmaodet:Okay thanks. These are my questions. According to your previous post, is it possible to receive moneygram in dollars in Ghana? Secondly.. the sender from Nigeria, does that have to be you, or u have someonelse send it to you while you go pick it up Thirdly, do you have to come back to Nigeria after every transaction, aren't there bdc operators at the ghana border? |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Theconglomerate(m): 10:01pm On May 14, 2020 |
kristien4:No bank is going to send your dollars in dom accounts out of Nigeria in times like this. How it is done is this; -You take your naira and buy any stable(independent of oil) country's currency that has a direct exchange rate with Nigeria naira. -You go to the country physically with that cash in hand,go to their black market for fx and purchase dollar,Euro or pounds. -Carry that fx physically and return back to Nigeria and sell in Nigeria black market too and make what you can make in the name of profit. Things you should know; -Your life and money is in danger because if authorities catch you, either they kill you and take your bread or they take the case up and you go to jail, which will make you still lose your bread because that is when you will find out that you have to pay import duty on currency before you can move it in. Also if robbers catch you too, then it is sorry for you. -Also,it is a volume business because you will find out that the difference of purchase price of the dollar between these countries(Nigeria and country of purchase) is very small,so you have to hold good money in order to be profitable.Mostly $100k and above. Also it is a very fluctuating business as rates change everyday so you might want to pick a country you can go to and return the same day so as to make projected profit instantly. You might gain or lose from fluctuations. -)It is a very shady business too as they can sell you counterfeit fx,so you have to know your dollars or trust your sources. Look men,it is not a business for the faint hearted but if you have made up your mind, carry on... The countries that you can do this business in,I will not say. It is left for you to use your brain There is NO BANK involved,it is an all cash,BLACK MARKET transaction.Let no one fool you!!! 6 Likes |

kristien4: No sir, you will receive it in ghana cedis but at their government exchange rate which is very good. Sepending on what you fill on the form, if you want to be the beneficial and collect it, you can but if you have a trusted person their, he can withdraw it for you. You will change the ghana cedis at the ghana bdc to dollars which is at a good rate and bring the dollars back to nigeria to convert to naira. It's a bit stressful bro. Not as easy as we are saying it on nairaland but if the money is a bit much, the stress is worth it. Going regularly to accra is not easy. See the attached pix for one i did then, just saw the receipt. 2 Likes

Theconglomerate: cc kristien4 Bro, you said no bank is involved but mine was. You just need a banker that can be pushing more money for you because per account is $1k per 3 months so the banker knows how he will be getting accounts for doing the transactions for you. On $10k, you will make atleast 500k profit but it's kind of stressful jare 2 Likes

emmaodet:The window for western union was very small at the time too.How did you do it? As at 2015/2016,you could only access western union portal from 8am to 8;05am in the morning with plenty network issues and a limitation of $1k transaction/quarter for each account. So you will have to get 10 different accounts to move $10k weight over a window of 5 minutes daily with all sorts of network limitations that might end up taking 1 month to move and you call that arbitrage? Also you can't move dollars at the time via WU to Gh from a dorm account na,you would have to purchase cedi with your naira via WU and use the cedi to purchase the dollar in Ghana na. Not that it was stressful but I think the method was impractical. If you want to do arbitrage or round tripping, get ready to carry cash and a whole lot of it.. 1 Like |

Burchester: This was done in 2016 now, do i need to post date so as to trace me? From that transaction, i made 35/40k profit but i did about $3k that week which gave about 150k after all expenses. |
