Am happy with the JF-17 purchase, provided we get as much as 15 jets in the next few years.

And we still need at least 1 squadron of air superiority fighter. A 4++ gen, twin engine, long range, fighter/strike jet. Until then, there is still a capability gap in the NAF.
an SU-30 or 34 preferably

Imagine nonsense. Arrant senseless post... We should surrender to the UK, imagine someone's comment. A Nigerian saying we should surrender our country to another country, without a fight. ... na wao. Na wa.

Nigeria is 4× bigger than UK, yet someone would surrender his patrimony without a fight. Ah ah, for wetin. A very cowardly and undignifying comment for any man.

What kind of people are here by the way?
why won't you surrender? not like you have never surrendered to them before! remember how they dealt with your emirs and kings? they even exiled Jaja of Opobo to the Caribbean Islands! cheesycheesycheesycheesycheesy They can do it over and over again, this time, maybe your Buhari will be sent to the ICC for allowing British soldiers to kill innocent Nigerians as a result of the war.

Massive airstrike against Boko Haram terrorists. A must watch!
OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE AIR TASK FORCE NEUTRALIZES SEVERAL BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS, DESTROYS THEIR FACILITIES IN MASSIVE AIR STRIKES AT ALAFA YAGAYAGA, BORNO STATE

1. Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in the Sambisa Forest general area of Borno State have been set in disarray as a result of massive air strikes conducted by the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE on 15 May 2020. The operation was executed based on credible intelligence reports as well as series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which showed that the terrorists had upscaled their activities in the settlement by importing additional fighters and increasing their logistics stocks preparatory to attacks on troops’ locations and surrounding civilian settlements. Consequently, the ATF dispatched an enhanced force package of attack aircraft and a surveillance platform to engage the location.

2. Overhead the target area, significant activity of the terrorists was observed in different parts of the settlement. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets took turns in attacking the target area, neutralizing many BHTs as well as destroying their logistics facilities and other structures in successive passes, thereby further degrading their will to fight.

3. The Armed Forces of Nigeria, operating in concert with other security agencies and stakeholders, will sustain the offensive against the enemies of our Great Nation. We shall not relent until peace and normalcy are restored not only in the North East but also in every other troubled region of our beloved Country.

I think we all should wake up from day dreaming. Lets discuss other matters at hand. We find it hard cutting supplies to Boko Haram terrorist, and we are here wasting our MB arguing about cutting logistics supplies to super powers. grin grin grin grin
If UK alone decided to invend us, the best we could do is to surrender in peace as for now.
There are many ways to win a war but not from day dreaming, because it could turn to nightmare grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

I understand where you're coming from. Afterall a wise woman called Margaret Mitchell once said "Any fool can be brave on a battlefield when it’s be brave or else be killed."

But remember that a hen who fights a lion to protect it's chick will serve as dinner. If she surrenders the chick and take to her heels, she lives to fight another day.

My brother even in the days of our forefathers, the European came with Dane guns and sold them as slaves. Even the Beni kingdom was not excluded. What will happen when they come with intercontinental ballistic missiles, aircraft carriers, long range missiles, Superior fighter jets, better trained soldiers, etc. Those guys are far ahead of us now than before.

One guy here was talking of using howitzer to fire ships in Atlantic ocean. The guy made me believe we are cursed in this country.

When Nigeria invaded Gambia recently, it was with no action from their military. A whole president of a Nation was removed and the military didn't fire a bullet.

The gap between USA and Nigeria is wider than the gap between Nigeria and Gambia militarily. I wish some of us can just be realistic sometimes.

Guy no dey wyn ya sef, tag me na, you dey fear?. Mention where i say may we use howitzer sink ship? Comprehension dey hard u i swear.

I made emphasize on beach landing. I said we could use the ceaser as costal defence. No dey misquote my talk may our two no get issue o, wida ya eyes na.

I guess you will use Cassava and palm oil to pay for all that military upgrades and jets huh? We aren't even talking about the tech transfer and know-how needed.
The moment Nigeria start amassing superior military capability( even during peace time), the West will do everything they can to stop it, these are highly jealous and insecure people, we won't get far before they try and stop us, and there are many ways, they don't even need to fire a single shot
clueless people. No power would want another potential power popping up, that put their position at risk, we already are seeing that with China.
Nigeria is so far behind, so stop dreaming.
I'm sorry, are you 8yrs old? I had to ask. But hey, good luck

NuclearBomber:

You guys always blurt things, smh.

The NAF needs 1squadron of deep strike jets, because we are surrounded by foreign military bases. We need that capability to be prepared in case of eventualities. This point is valid.

Our arguing friend involved aircraft carriers, 500,000 troops and NATO as reasons why we should not equip our NAF with the strike jets. That is what brought argument. Imagine undecided

I swear, the quality of people here is a cause for concern.

If the N-Koreans and Iranians had this mentality, they would have surrended their country to the dictates of US and NATO. But rather, they have adapted to the threats they face and developed.

Yes, US is very powerful but the defeatist thinking is not manly. And even expressing such views on a public forum is shameless and undignifying. I am still wondering the kinds of people here.

People like those cannot become Leaders, because when leaders give up, followers are corpses.

Nonsense. ...Because of aircraft carrier and NATO, we should not buy deep strike jets... Arrant nonsense.

We should but 200 jets instead. Smh.
