A driver on rentals or HP will most likely not have this choice.

Mainland has so many traps though grin
You are right bro. To survive driving on the mainland without getting into trouble will require extra effort from the driver. In fact you can’t escape it grin

So I decided I'd join this ride hailing hustle February this year after I lost my job and I couldn't get another. I sourced for funds to pay for drivers license so I could go on with other processes. I paid for the license march and then we started coronation in Nigeria. I learnt there's a driving school certificate that must be obtained and road safety claims the portal to verify the stuff has been closed since lockdown was issued. But lockdown has been eased and these guys now go to work, I wonder why the portal could not be activated, I mean these guys, government workers generally are so indolent and non challant when it comes to work. Person just dey waste for Here. How portal go still dey closed after una don start work. I think rapture should happen in Nigeria alone abeg

You just have to know ur way around. There are traps everywhere in Lagos though.

Mainland own is extra. I once paid 20k in 2016 just because I carry head enter One-way. I begged them to let me reverse out since I was less than 10metres into the one way road, they didn’t listen.

Places like Yaba, Shomolu, Oshodi, Lagos Island and VI have enough One-ways grin

If an Uber driver is not sharp, plus having God's mercy, dem go chop am

One way to know if somewhere is one way is to see how the cars are parked, and if you aren't sure, just ask.

Trust Lagosians to always help in such times of need

I am not so good with names of places in mainland. There’s one road like that around Isolo that you can use to link Aguda Surulere, I don’t know if you are familiar with that area. It was around that area. The road scatter for my face that year chai.

I tell you.

Do everything and anything to protect your money, or else....

I can't count how many times I've told my riders that I just started driving on Uber the day before, so they can direct me (especially ladies) grin

Me: Ma, I'm sorry but I don't know where we are, and the map isn't working

(Its a lie oh. I just want to be sure we are not making the wrong turns) grin

Her: Are you not an Uber driver? Can't you use your app?

Me: I just started yesterday, and I came to Lagos last week. So it's not been easy learning the ropes

She becomes empathetic

Her: I'm sorry. Just turn left

....and then the directions begin cheesy

I do this too. Since the day I took a rider I was supposed to take to Opebi to Mile 12 grin I don’t hesitate to ask to them for directions.

The man I took to Eco bank Akin Adesola yesterday. He asked if I know Akin Adesola, I said Yes. He asked if I know the Exact place where Eco Bank is on that road, I said No.

He updated the address from Eko Hotel to Eco Bank Akin Adesola, I got the notification on the App and I quickly loaded Gmap, Gmap was now saying we should goto lagos island grin

I'm sure it's near that Brown street they caught you. They fix One-way signs overnight in that area

Photocopy another and move on brother grin

Avoid Oshodi trips for now. Anyday you get chance, go there (without your car) and appease them. By then, dem go accept the #2400

You mean he should go back and collect the photocopy ? What could be the implication of ignoring it.
I done leave my photocopy with police once, but never cared. I have 3 copies in d car.

But the one that bothers me is FRSC

I was given a ticket because d babe beside me didn't use seat belt.
Ticket 2k they took the original vehicle license (I just renewed it that week). Told me to go and pay on Monday because it was a Saturday.

Went to first bank to pay on Monday , cashier checked and said road safety site or link is down I should check back next day.
Two days after I went same story. I tried another branch same story. Na so I forgot about it, but Fortunately i wrapped d 2k cash and first bank teller together.

2 months after as I was driving out from stadium towards Iponri/ Eko bridge, their car was just parking and they were coming out. So I was the first car they saw and just stopped me and the man behind me.
I was sweating inside AC ...

immediately they said oga bring your papers I just jejely brought out the ticket, teller and cash that it's bank network o.

The man say ahhh I said bring your papers u bringing ticket ? He now looked and said, oh we have arrested you before and u didn't go to pay na so he call him oga say see this man bla bla. Na so I begin beg oga say I no dey Lagos I just come back and na bank cos am, dt I filled the teller.
D oga said my money will be increasing every day and I will pay more to collect my papers.

To cut long story short I couldn't pay, till I misplaced d teller and spent d money.
I renewed my license d next year and moved on.

But I feel concerned, don't know if they still have it in their records though, it was 2016.

ThAts why I'm asking why you want him to still go back to collect photocopy

Lol

Yours is a different case. Your papers have been renewed back to back. So they must have forgotten the issue, and I don't think it can still be retained in their system

As for him, I just felt that his papers in the wrong hands could be dangerous. He doesn't know the officers that seized it, and maybe they didn't even drop it at the station.

I just felt he should try to collect it. If his offense was properly documented like yours, I would have asked him to forget it
