i want someone from all those IGR noise making states to show me just one picture from their states that is as clear and brown roof free as this. even if it is their best GRA

Pls stop this goading and obsession with brown roofs. I’m impressed with this thread, it’s beautiful and has revealed a lot about Owerri as a city and the fast paced and amazing development ongoing.

Don’t ruin it by unnecessary comparison with other cities or inciting others. It’s not necessary.

This picture is for none igbos especailly ignorant untravelled Afon, who assumes that igbos show pictures of only rich areas and not where the ordinary man lives.

Now, zoom and look through the picture below, what do you see? A forest right? Yes! That’s what it is. Those are the ordinary citizens. They buy land, build their taste, and before you know it, the whole place organically forms a collection of beautiful looking residential buildings. This is not a GRA, it’s just different individuals Who bought the land years back, probably when it was cheaper and now ready to build their homes.

Some of these areas don’t even have good roads, but trust that the neighborhood and buildings are dope. It is after a long time government remembers them, to build their road and drainage. In some places, the landlord contribute to build their roads...

This is why igbos are called DEVELOPERS. Changing the landscape of anywhere they find themselves, with real estate development.

If you come back here in 5yrs time to snap pictures, when most of this place would have been developed, you will think it’s an estate or Gra, naaaa! It isn’t. It’s just a hood.
Your topic is different from what you just wrote here. I've traveled quite around the country, I'd say something similar and even more to what you wrote if I'm asked to describe my experience about the east, but how do you guys feel turning every topic of discussion into tribal/religious fights? From bicycle ride to this?

Are you blind to the multiply threads they open on a daily basis to mock the East as being undeveloped and how Osun state generate more IGR than the combination of all the SE states, and how Anambra is poorer than Osun state, going by their fake NBS report, headed by an Afonja man?

Please spare me your sermon.

Owerri is well planned, all thanks to Sam Mbakwe. Not like my Awka, which doesn't have initial master plan, and people started building houses indiscriminately everywhere.

This is the problem with Onitsha and one of my the reasons that Onitsha residents relocate to Asaba, Okpanam etc.

Enugu should key into this. We need our urban/regional planners and estate management experts.
I still think that Polo Park shouldn’t have been tampered with. Shop rite should’ve been relocated elsewhere to promote development beyond Enugu city metropolis.
New artisan quarters is ruining the efforts of those who invested and own properties at Independence layout.

Ituku Ozalla need urgent attention, there should be a master plan and builders and developers should strictly abide by this. People have started building indiscriminately around the area. If this is not halted and corrected, we will have a problem in the nearest future.

Around Meniru Street, we have this problem. CC Onoh sold lots of plots of land there, Meniru/ One day..close to the hills. The activities there are embarrassing and this happened during the time of Chimaroke Nnamani and Sullivan Chime...both governments were oblivious of the development going on there. Ugwuanyi need to look into this before it turns into an epidemic.

You people should face your useless and dilapidated Owerri in peace and stop talking down on others. Is Asaba more populated than Onitsha? Or is Owerri or Asaba half as planned as Onitsha? Or how did Polo park Enugu concern this thread? You guys are the reason Imo threads don't fly without distractions.

Face your useless Imo state and stop courting trouble that you can't handle when it start. Maybe you guys are just deceiving yourselves with some selected pictures here because when the real Owerri pictures are posted here that's when you guys will learn to be humble and face your thread.

The last I checked Owerri is not different from Aba in filth and dilapidation roads.

Also, I'm 200% Sure you've not moved out of the SE, that's why you feel elated showing those repeatitive pictures of the whole SE and think it's special. That NBS statistics pained you all to bone marrow which is why you've been calling out Yorubas since then till date. you will all be alright
How can NBS data pain someone.21100 out of more than 200 million people was use as a measurement when we all know that Nigeria is not u.s,u.k or top western countries where things are done accuratly.Or have u forgetten that Nigeria's MOTTO is corruption is our birthright.

What's this one yapping? You guys would never mind your shithole Owerri. Do you really wanna see the real Owerri here? Owerri and Aba are related in bad roads and filth. Most of Owerri is dirty dilapidated unplanned disjointed and littered with shanties and slums. Don't come here to compare it to Awka that's decently advancing in development.

Abro, I'm not from Imo State, I'm from Anambra and I grew up in Awka. So I'm perfectly sure of what I'm talking about, I've lived in Awka my whole life, but it's no where comparable to Owerri in terms of master plan.

The town planners we have here are doing little or nothing in terms of improving Awka master plan. You need to see how Rochas transformed Orlu that used to be slum. We need someone that will replicate what Rochas did in Orlu in Awka

Inner roads in Awka are too tiny(not wide enough), Even the major roads aren't wide enough either. You see houses built close to drainage, some are almost touching high tension cables smh.

Awka needs total overhaul, serious one.

I am from Imo state and I lived and schooled in Owerri. Firstly Awka has by far a better and wider road networks than Owerri.

Owerri has some of the worst roads ever in SE maybe at the same level with Aba.

Most of the roads in Owerri are tiny dilapidated and always waterlogged.

There's little or no planning in Owerri because once it rains the roads are blocked. The drains are poorly planned too.

I am very certain what I am talking about. Owerri generally should be completely redeveloped if it cannot be totally demolished for proper planning and development.

What we actually need in Owerri is what Obiano did at inner streets of Awka, and building of flyovers to match. These are things we don't have in Owerri. Inner streets of Owerri are some of the worst I have seen anywhere in Nigeria.

Owerri needs total demolition for proper planning and development. In Owerri they built houses indiscriminately without planning, and onto the drainage thereby constitute more chaos and flooding in the town.

These are some of the Awka wide roads with well grassed dividers and flyovers that Owerri can never boast of even in the next 200yrs. You can never compare Awka to the shithole called Owerri.

Recommendation: Owerri is in shambles and should be demolished completely, then planned and rebuilt from the scratch.

I am from Anambra state and a more confirm Igbo man than you. I have seen hustle past you boy.

Forget this my moniker... I have been on this forun since 2007.

Your antecedents has always been very very bad. Even if people are saying bad about our state, why not focus on the good part of it and show it to the world? Why not just ignore them?

You people are the reason some immature yoruba and hausa people insult us in this hopeless nation.

At my age, I have a house in the village and building one in Umuahia. Can you boast of such?

Thats why when Afonjas and Almajiris call us baby factory people, Fan yogo hawkers, gala sellers... The goal is not to reply them or get back to them.

The goal is to shame them with success. Let the morrons see that from Gala hawking, one can put up a decent bungalow in the East.

As old as you are, you should know that when younare fighting your brother, outsiders will be watching with delight and happiness.

Anambra state is not the only progressive state in the East. Anambra is not the leader of the East. Every Eastern state is equal.

I want you to take a day and go to Ikenegbu in Owerri. Go to world bank. Go to new Owerri... You will see what Anambra men are doing there.

Please be motivated and rise from this dust of always rubbing shoulders with port Harcourt, Imo, Abia etc.
