Are you food secure? Here's how to know Food security exists when all people at all times have physical, social and economic access to safe, sufficient and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs in order to live an healthy and active life. The problem of food insecurity is deeper than mere food availability. To address the food insecurity in this nation, we must not only deal with food availability. This is why most government attempts to curb food insecurity fails. For Nigerians to be food secure, four criteria must be met; Food availability: increased production, physical available of food in an area at all times. Food access: Social and economic access to food that is, is the food affordable to the common man? Food utilization : how the body utilizes the food. Are the people healthy enough to utilize the food produced. Food stability : consistency of food regardless of war, political instability etc. You can have food available but no money to buy. You can have food available, money to buy but not be in good health. You can have food available, money to buy and be in good health but due to covid 19, you aren't able to get food. If you can't fulfill all these criterion, you are food insecure. So in my opinion, Nigerians are not food insecure due to food availability alone, we are food insecure majorly because many lack economic access to food. If we must achieve food security, here are the most important to address. Good roads, to link farm produce and consumers this addresses issues of food availability and stability. Hospitals to ensure good health which tackles the issue of food utilization. Good economy to ensure the food is affordable for the common man. Lalasticlala ... Myndd44 Dominique 55 Likes 6 Shares |

Good headline but the normal issues that resist the fair actualization of such schemes is still very much around and abounds. That's about N400, 000 millions to 5 million farmers or rather N80,000 per farmer in agricultural logistics like ground preparation, harvesting and cultivation. 2 Likes |

Always targeting or promising. We may not hear anything about this program afterwards. They’ve been diversifying the economy since 2015, yet dollar trades for over 450 to the naira today. Abeg cut us some slack on this diversification you guys have been shouting. A serious government would have invested heavily in other non-oil sectors, but no; oil money dey sweet them. Lazy ass politicians. 38 Likes |
