That must be an old refurbished ship. Isn't that a Mikano generator conspicuously displayed at the back? One hit in a war situation and the entire ship goes into black out. 1 Like 1 Share |

12 aspid missiles for air defence and the most sophisticated air defence fire control radar in the world. Pride of West Africa https:///PxojZiv11F Most what in the world? Was it built in Nigeria from scratch to finish? No! We Procure it. So it’s not the most sophisticated air defense fire control radar in the world. Thank you. |

Vivian16: The Obasanjo administration I think but delivered during the Shagari regime. I have boarded it once and had lots of mags sent to me on subscription from Voss, the ship builder. Used to be badass in those days with Exocet missile capabilities from MBDA, France. But c'mon that is too long ago. The vessel ought to be retired by now. 1 Like |

Re: Flagship, NNS Aradu Undergoes Repairs At The Naval Dockyard Lagos by Nobody: 9:47am On May 20, 2020 |
Racoon: I never knew Aradu is still operational. It should have been decommissioned long time ago except it is being used as a training vessel for NDA cadets and officers on courses. Going to dockyard is not news, the purpose of naval dockyard is to service ships. Aradu is a customer at that dock, this is not her first time of going there. 2 Likes |

Re: Flagship, NNS Aradu Undergoes Repairs At The Naval Dockyard Lagos by Reference(m): 9:56am On May 20, 2020 |
Thetruthalways: Na. The cost of maintenence wiil not be worth it. It is like taking a Volkswagen Beetle on a cross country journey. It can do it but you must be prepared to sleep in the bush. Ships are not only engines but systems too and these are manufacturer specific and will no longer have parts to replace. Remember, this ship was bought about the time we were purchasing Russian Mig 21 aircraft and T-72 and even before the Alpha jet series that have all been retired. It is a very old ship. Good job to keep it floating all these years but at 40 years old this year, it should be retired. What Nigeria should be doing with this ship is to retire it and send it to our Naval Colleges for study towards reverse enginering. That is what China and India did. That is how they started building their own massive military industrial complex. 2 Likes 1 Share |
