Use the optional mail address you registered with during the registration of the gmail.. U can also use the number you register with as well

It all started when I got a new phone three days ago. I made sure I backed up my files on Google Drive before formatting and disposing my old phone

Now, I tried logging into the new device and I was told my password was incorrect. Yeah it's possible I missed some letters in my password, so I tried to recover my account using my recovery mail and recovery phone number but the response I got each I input the code sent to both my recovery mail or recovery phone number is that Google cannot verify me as the owner of the account

Guys, I have tried attempted all the recovery options yet I can't access my account. It seems my account has been locked out for some hours for suspicious activity and I have written to Google support but they seem to be replying with their normal traditional FAQ links

Please I need the gurus in the house to help me

If you can get ur old phone for 30 minutes, use it to recover ur account, also do that in a location you normally stay to login the most.
I'm currently in the same location where I normally login my account with the old device

@tosyne2much my guess is that it has to do with IP address. It’s possible the geo location you registered the account is different from the location you’re trying the recover the account. You may have to reach out to google through the support forums and provide them some more details


The recovery mail and phone number is still intact and I can still receive the recovery code but the response I get when I input the recovery code sent to my phone number is "you can't sign in on this device"


But the response I get when I use the recovery code sent to my recovery mail is "sorry Google can't verify you as the owner of the account"

Just open a new acct. Since u logged in with a wrong password on a new device at the first attempt it will be difficult to accept any other login with same account. Google is very overprotective lately.

I will advice you give them like 48 hours break. Then try login from a PC possibly chrome browser on a PC

I had a similar experience with one of my gmail accounts. I am no longer using the phone number I used to open it so they kept asking me to use the phone number to receive the recovery codes. I couldn't do that as I have abandoned the line more than 6 years now. I was just frustrated and abandoned the account.

Try to get ur old phone if it's possible, that will be the easiest way to retrieve your account bro. If u are still in contact with the person u gave the phone to, Talk to him, he'll understand n make d phone available...Google will easily recognize the device

First allow it for 8hrs before trying again, then use another network (data connection) to log in...

You can as well go to your recovery email and search for the mail goggle sent you the first day you add the mail, follow the link to log in it will go through.

If you can lay your hands on your old phone, get it and login to your Gmail with it. Yes Gmail recognizes your old phone.

While logged in on your old phone, still log in on your new phone and you'll receive a mail from Gmail on your old phone telling you another device is trying to gain access to you mail.
You'll be asked to allow it if you recognize the activity or report a complain.

I understand, that’s why I think it has to do with geo location. Did you open the account from a different country than the one you’re trying to recover it from? Sometimes even with correct password and all, google refuses to verify based on geo differences, though it doesn’t literally say

Same thing happened to me sometimes ago, even though you are sent a recovery code it will never work if your password is more than 50 combined letters alphabet & numbers.
I letter found my password where I stored the picture in my gallery.

Why do people add gmail.com when entering credentials on Google

Or yahoo.com when entering on Yahoo.

Just put your user name, the system already know you are gmail or yahoo.

This happens because of your IP. Your IP has been used for things Google hates.

Unfortunately, Nigerian internet providers recycle IPs, they don't issue clean IPs to their subscribers, which is bad.

Try to access your gmail with a different device that connected to a different network!
